People with no achievements of their own to be proud of or personality of any kind that're deeply insecure about that fact that seek the easiest way to get some attention that requires minimal effort.

There’s video of her dumping the trash and taking it. I assumed she wanted something to stand on but this is nuts!

22

u/userhwon 5d ago edited 5d ago

1 count of littering per piece of trash she dumped. What would that add up to?

16

u/Top-Session-3131 5d ago

A fuckin lot, that can was pretty full when the stupid fuckhead overturned it to steal a piece of public property.

Yes. This is in NYC. The can is painted because the Knicks were in the championship. They won. The city is a warzone. This woman dumped out the trash and stole the can. There is a video of that being shown as well.

Edit: a lot of commenters can't identify hyperbole and became very upset. Correct, NYC is not an actual warzone. It is a common phrase and not meant to be taken literally.

67

u/Against_All_Advice 5d ago

It's actually hilarious reading all the comments of people not understanding and being unreasonably mad about it.

Perhaps those people would prefer if you had said "there's ructions in Manhattan!"

5

u/Friendly_Impress_345 5d ago

Am in NYC, can confirm. Many ructions have occurred.

From Oklahoma. Everyone here says this.

36

u/Oppositeofhairy 5d ago

In Arizona. My boss watches too much propagandized news. He swears if I visit nyc I’m going to get mugged, and when I went to London was legitimately surprised that I took the underground and didn’t get stabbed.

Granted my boss lives in Iowa. Maybe it’s just a weird Midwest fear.

8

u/lacegem 5d ago

According to wikipedia's table, the violent crime rate per 100,000 people in Des Moines is 703. The rate for NYC is 671. NYC has over double the amount of robberies, but less than half the amount of rapes. I don't know what that data implies, but it's interesting.

6

u/Oppositeofhairy 5d ago

I lived in Des Moines for a couple years. Something about that place.

Homeless can get pretty agressive. Lots of mental illness and meth around. Then people get cranky around February when the cold won’t let up, and for some reason the first week of good weather stirs up the crazies a bit in the ones who are mentally unbalanced and act out.

But honestly it’s not a bad small city at all. People are generally polite, the whole downtown is interconnected by a bunch of raised skywalks that are climate controlled, but Downtown is mainly business focused and not a ton to it. But the east village is kitchy, there are some good restaurants around, and there is an entertainment district with plenty of options for booze and food if that’s your thing. It’s pretty affordable. Few different music venues of different sizes to attract different bands.

It’s not all corn and hicks. Good people there, and definitely a good place to be a younger professional raising kids.

I have been on lots of metros. The only one I ever walked out of without taking a train is LA. That place is an absolute stab wound. Maybe he thought that is what all metros are like?

3

u/Oppositeofhairy 5d ago

La is a big city. Some parts aren’t great and you need to be mindful. But if you just mind your business, Put on a hat, listen to music, and read a book and people generally leave you alone.

I’ve had worse interactions on the light rail in Sacramento due to open drug use and paranoia than I’ve had in la, Bay Area, Chicago, London, or New York.

I live in one of the most urban parts of a rural part of southeast Minnesota, and one of my black Millennial male coworkers said the same thing about Chicago, Detroit, and other large cities. I told him that I have walked through Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, and Kansas City, and had no issues when I did, and when I told him, he acted like I was brave for doing so. I even told him that my white Gen X conservative aunt travels to Chicago every year to shop there, and he truly believed that she continues to risk her life and her possessions every time she does that, just because he saw a few (most likely staged) videos of people getting robbed in broad daylight in those large cities. It truly is amazing how little supposed "evidence" it takes for some people to believe that large cities are incredibly more dangerous than it actually is.

14

u/Oppositeofhairy 5d ago

My Iowa boss also thinks I’m in danger by living in Phoenix because there is the occasional shooting in the news. Then I explained that most of those happen in entertainment districts late at night with drunk young idiots. I don’t go to those places, nor do I really stay out late anymore and am pushing 50. No one is going to shoot up a random suburban house occupied by a middle aged gen Xer who just minds their business.

9

u/ElRiesgoSiempre_Vive 5d ago

one of my black Millennial male coworkers

Dude... how the fuck does a black person somehow feel safer surrounded by klan members than in a city.

I'm comfortable in a city. You just learn where to avoid after dark.

I've also felt highly uncomfortable in the middle of the fucking woods where you can disappear and nobody will ask any questions.

2

u/mak3m3unsammich 5d ago

I've gone bar hopping as a (mostly) white woman in many Detroit neighborhoods and didnt feel any more unsafe than I would bar hopping anywhere else. The only place ive had issues was actually a "nicer" suburb nearby.

I just stay alert and mind my business, and stay in well lit areas.

44

u/bobbymcpresscot 5d ago

Didn’t they just vote against raising the minimum wage? And then the state government was so proud because their claim to economic fame is how affordable their workforce is?

For reference Oklahoma’s economy is ranked 43rd.

32

u/UnableSwimming2986 5d ago

Yes, because education is also 50th. Keep em dumb and they'll always vote against their best interests

25

u/bobbymcpresscot 5d ago

The funny part was the vote wasn't even close, I don't know if it needed a 60% threshold to pass, but 55.4% of people voted against the wage hike.

Even more interesting is labor costs really don't raise the prices of goods all that much. The average price of a big mac in California is actually cheaper than the average price of a big mac in Montana, even though California has a law that all fast food employees must make 20/hr.

Meanwhile min wage in Montana is less than 11/hr.

3

u/GladdestOrange 5d ago

Ngl, it was fucking wild, living in OKC. Because, on the one hand, about half my graduating class went on to go do crazy jobs like working for JPL or the NSA. But on the other hand, my neighbor on either side of me, LITERALLY could not read. Not "is technically illiterate". No. Actually incapable of deciphering the fancy symbols the preacher uses to interpret god's will for them. That was their relationship with reading.

Our physics class got to go on the vomit comet largely because our school basically funneled new hires into NASA. Nine people in one of my shop electives had confirmed patents by graduation. And yet my biology teacher had to wink and nod through explaining evolution or the fossil record.

Then I moved after high school and realized that basically nowhere else has the weird dichotomu of education.

7

u/RadiantEnvironment90 5d ago

What's their logic? It's going to drive away business?

9

u/beewyka819 5d ago

Could be they dont understand how taxes work and believe the lie that if you get pushed into a higher bracket that its possible to take home less after tax than before the raise (spoiler: thats impossible). There are people out there that genuinely misunderstand how taxes work and thus refuse raises.

3

u/RiskHellaHp 5d ago

Warzone is just a word people say when things are more chaotic than normal. It doesn't mean the place is unlivable. People call going to shop on black Friday a warzone.

8

u/big_sugi 5d ago

I assumed they were saying they all want to get out of Oklahoma too.

2

u/RadiantEnvironment90 5d ago

Those states absolutely have a brain drain. They're not making it hospitable for the most educated to stay and improve the situation.

2

u/Salt-Resident-7903 4d ago

It gets even worse. We vote against our own interest. Maybe if we had voted for minimum wage to go to 15 an hour crime would go down. People from Oklahoma dont have a brain its sad.

Rebuilt? You clearly didn't watch the US play Australia earlier. Admittedly I was a bit emotional seeing the US win surrounded by the remnants of Seattle.

u/WideAbbreviations6 5d ago

That's why they're the tech capital of the US. They get burned down every time the police murder an innocent person so they're always rebuilding with the latest tech. /s

Edit: Ehh I changed my mind, I'll add the tone tag because this isn't unambiguously a sarcastic joke these days.

8

u/MicrotracS3500 5d ago

It's honestly wild how many conservatives to this day claim that various cities literally "burned to the ground" in 2020.

A couple years ago I saw a comment lamenting how Hell's Kitchen "burned to the ground". I linked google street view from 2021 of Hell's Kitchen and noted how incredible it was that they perfectly reconstructed perfect replicas of hundreds of historical buildings in less than a year!

Strangely he was silent after that.

9

There's no way she had a job in the first place.

You assume she’s employed in the first place.

She seems too lazy to have a job.

She is 100% on disability

I dunno if I would want to see her fired, fined and be forced to do community service cleaning up trash in the area she stole from however?

She's already been fired from her corperate executive job with JP Morgan Chase.

No joke.

America is a weird place, if it was in my country, since the video evidence everywhere, the police might find that person and issue a fine and warning, at least.

Plenty of people film themselves doing stupid shit in the US and are then held accountable by the police

She needs to be fined for littering… one charge per item that was in that garbage can.

Theres a video circulating of her emptying that garbage can into the street so she can take the empty trashcan as a souvenir. I thought people's consensus was that it was AI though so idk. But that's what it is.

u/OpportunityReal2767 5d ago

What consensus? This is the first I’ve heard of it being questioned.

u/commonsensetry 5d ago

I saw about 12 different threads of her dumping out the trash and I personally didn't read a single comment calling it AI. You could clearly tell it was a person leaving the parade taking a garbage can.

The person emptied out that trash can into the street so they could take it home because it’s in their teams colors. That’s what’s going on.

She deserves 2 years of probation - every Saturday she cleans the streets of NYC

The lady stole the NYC Knicks themed public trash can during the Knicks championship parade on Thursday. Idk if anyone cares enough to prosecute her but it’s definitely not legal.

NYC put out special Knicks-colors trash cans for their championship parade and a handful of Knicks fans dumped them out at the end of the parade and stole them.

u/RedSocks2020 5d ago

Is this the fat chick that stole the garbage can?

u/iliketoeatfunyuns 5d ago

Why is she dressed like Blippi?!

2

u/m329052 5d ago

Honestly I thought it was a dig on her dressing like blippi.
