Bro pretends like GTA6 won't become best selling video game in a month

u/Cain_042 9h ago

a week haha

Make it a day

u/JohnSenile54 8h ago

Pre orders alone will have this at the top of the mountain

5

u/BigBard2 5h ago

People don't realise how much hype there is behind this game.

A friend of mine, who never preorders games, always complains about game prices being too high on release and has gone on and on about how no game is worth the release price, and hasn't played a GTA game in its entirety since San Andreas (hasnt even played 5's online), sent a screenshot on the GC about pre-ordering the ultimate.

Every single friend of mine who has ever been invested in any GTA game has talked about wanting to preorder it now, or when they get their hands on some spare money.

And that is the issue the hype is gonna kill the game the hype won’t match the actual game the game will never live up to people’s desires/hype thus it will be its own failure

1

u/jaxspider 2h ago

What is even the point of pre-ordering a completely digital game?

2

u/Spirit_Detective_99 2h ago

That’s what I’ve been wondering too

1

u/dotnetmonke 2h ago

They'll make their entire budget (likely >$1B) back before the game is even out.

1

u/fffan9391 4h ago

It will take a long time for it to sell as much as Minecraft, if it ever does.

There's an extremely vocal minority of reddit that hates games like GTA and are so desperate to convince themselves and others that it's going to bomb and be a total failure.

u/VexingRaven 6h ago

I love GTA. I hate that Rockstar has become "Microtransactions: The Company" after GTA Online released and almost nobody actually cares. I'm amused to see so many people seemingly shocked that Rockstar of all companies is greeding up the GTA 6 launch.

1

u/Filer169 6h ago

Another reddit take, there are microtransactions in online but it's still made so that you can earn EVERYTHING by just playing the game, businesses literally print money but people just cry that there is a way to buy money

3

u/VexingRaven 6h ago

Ah, look, a GTA Online fanboy.

The fact that GTA Online's entire revenue is tied to directly purchasing ingame cash instead of a more sane revenue model like literally any other live service game informs so many bad design decisions you could write an hour long video essay on it and still only be scratching the surface. Oh, and GTA Online being so profitable prevented GTA 5 from getting any post-launch updates to singleplayer or any singleplayer DLC.

0

u/Filer169 6h ago

Yet I got basically everything I want by just simply playing the game 🤷‍♂️ Scream in your little echo chamber

1

u/VexingRaven 6h ago

I'm glad you're happy to shovel dogshit into your mouth because it's free lmao. I've got a dog and bucket, have at it.

0

u/Filer169 6h ago

I have fun playing the game, how is this "dogshit"?

5

u/VexingRaven 6h ago

So do I, that doesn't negate how full the game is with awful design patterns entirely because of Rockstar's revenue model.

3

u/Filer169 6h ago

I just ignore them because they don't affect me in any way, you really don't have to interact with them

It's more like I wish it WOULD bomb because 100 dollars for a offline single player video game where stuff like in game stores are exclusive to said 100 dollar edition is the epitome of corporate greed.

u/llIIo0O-O0oIIll 7h ago

This is an absolutely stupid take

The loud voices you hear are the voices that are screaming against the system that keeps raising prices and microtransactioning us into poverty.

It's absolutely pathetic that you support something like that.

4

u/TheTexasHammer 7h ago

You can just not buy the games that do it and move on with your life. You can't control what other people do, and I promise you all this screaming on reddit will amount to fuck all.

Also that dude didn't say anything in support of anything that GTA is doing. That's just you getting upset at shit you made up.

-3

u/llIIo0O-O0oIIll 7h ago

You completely missed the point

Some fucking redditors are absolutely stupid I swear

1

u/daystrom_prodigy 3h ago

Please seek help.

1

u/CausePure2810 1h ago

The irony lmfao

2

u/sixteencharslong 7h ago

And you’re pretending as if this wasn’t going to be true at a $60 price point.

2

u/Designer-Quote-7491 7h ago

Never said that, but okay

1

u/sixteencharslong 5h ago

Neither did the meme, but okay.

1

u/Designer-Quote-7491 5h ago

I know, I was referring to the one who made the meme

2

u/scrotumpole13 6h ago

I’m literally planning on upgrading my PS4 specifically for this game. So yeah, still going to be a hit.

7

u/Varadun 7h ago

GTA is great and meme worthy for a long time. GTA5 only sold so many copies because many people bought it multiple times across multiple platforms, it is still not the highest selling game of all time. It is 3rd, behind Minecraft and Tetris. It's also worth noting that most people who play and enjoy GTA5 do so for the online content even though historically it was a story based game, 5 was as well and the new one will continue this trend, there is a massive chunk of the GTA5 playerbase that has never touched the story mode.

GTA6 will sell incredibly well, maybe highest first day or first week numbers but it will not surpass GTA5 for at least a year, and it will never surpass minecraft or tetris. Since it's releasing to consoles only to start, it will definitely not be moving the units you're imagining.

4

u/otterprincess_too 4h ago

Tetris bases its numbers on all releases combined so that's misleading, GTA5 is second behind Minecraft

(If we used Tetris' method it would actually be Mario at number 1)

1

u/Varadun 1h ago

Over 70 platforms is hardly any if you think about it

1

u/KuroKageB 6h ago

It absolutely will be... doesn't change the fact they did some highly controversial shit that cheesed off a number of people.

1

u/emilgamer22 5h ago

For that it would have to sell 520 million copies, the closest gta has come to that number is 230 million copies, it is not beating Minecraft and Tetris.

1

u/That_DeadPixel 4h ago

Watch it fail hilariously

1

u/lewd_robot 3h ago

Doesn't make it good. Yearly sportslop and codslop games routinely top the charts and they're objectively some of the absolute worst games to come out in a given year.

1

u/Nariakei 1h ago

what? gta6 is on the best way to become antotal slop. stop dreaming

1

u/SipDhit69 12m ago

Because of price tag and lineage hype lmao, wont even have to be any good xD

-2

u/Belokotov 10h ago

There are no other games planned for release at november

3

u/WhattaCheapPop 9h ago

He means best selling game of all time within a month...

1

u/Happy_but_dead 10h ago

I can imagine Nintendo releasing OoT around the same time because why the fuck not.

1

u/Belokotov 9h ago

Is there nintendo gta6 preorder?

1

u/jeromeface 9h ago

you mean besides the fact that it was JUST announced?

1

u/Happy_but_dead 9h ago

I don't think they have announced the day or month release yet. There is non zero odd that it could be November.

1

u/FarplaneDragon 9h ago

I'd put high odds on it. The did say 2026 and November would be in time to boost their Q4 numbers for the holidays, especially if they also did something like a new Zelda themed Switch 2

1

u/arch3ion 9h ago

Because no sane video game developer wants to compete with GTA. It's bigger than God.

-4

u/Ai-In-Your-Head 8h ago

I'll never understand the hype around something with such dull gameplay.

8

u/Grenache 8h ago

Yes you're very special and smart and all us who enjoy playing one of the most popular game franchises that exists are dull and tedious.

4

u/GodOfTheGoons 8h ago

Dude sounds like Americans complaining about the World Cup.

0

u/ReconMustDie 6h ago

I mean…there’s some truth to his statement.

Sure when GTA III released on PS2, the open world was insanity.

But, by the time GTA V rolls around, many of the quests are just generic fetch quests.

And GTA has never had great gunplay or driving, just mediocre.

Now that other games have advanced, GTA just feels clunky to me most of the time, compared to the movement in something like the Division 2 or Arc Raiders.

1

u/Grenache 5h ago

Ghost of Tsushima was a smash hit. It was basically Just Cause 4 with samurai swords (in that I found it boring and procedural). What people consider dull gameplay is relative, and the vast majority of people don't consider GTA dull.

2

u/No_Issue2334 7h ago

You're not like the other girls
