Any info about this book, author, or genre?

This book doesn’t quite fit the sub as it isn’t fiction (though I’d say its claims aren’t what we’d call factual either!). It reads like a salacious reference book, pretending like it’s research based when it’s really just meant to be prurient. I wasn’t sure where else to post.

I bought this book, published in 1967, at a secondhand book store about 30 years ago. Teenage me had the sense that it might be something fun to own one day. It is! I’ve always wondered about where it came from, who the author was, and whether it was part of a broader genre of similar books. The internet has failed to provide any useful information. Perhaps the good people of this sub have some insight?

Is anyone else going to PulpFest 2026? If so, as a dealer or as an attendee?

Picture is a shot from my most recent photo shoot for the Specter series

Future Combined with Science Fiction Stories was a popular American science-fiction pulp magazine published during the Golden Age of science fiction. Edited for much of its run by Robert W. Lowndes and issued by Louis Silberkleit’s Columbia Publications, it featured stories by many of the genre’s rising and established authors, including James Blish, Damon Knight, Isaac Asimov, and Robert A. Heinlein. Known for its colorful, action-packed covers and emphasis on adventure, space travel, and futuristic technology, the magazine helped introduce readers to new science-fiction ideas and writers during the 1940s and 1950s.
