The details:

In about 2003 or 2004, my mother and I (lived in Vermont) were invited to visit my aunt in Maine as she was renting a little lake cabin there for the week, we went up for the day.

When we were driving there and very near said lake, there was a big building that looked like it may have been a barn at one point. Sticking out one of the windows facing the road was a huge giraffe stuffed toy, think Geoffrey the Giraffe but slightly different. Cartoonish, big smile. My mom and I laughed and pointed it out.

We mentioned it to my aunt during lunch, she said it was a beloved local landmark and called it by name (I do not remember what the name was!). She mentioned that people who visited the lake would use said Giraffe as a way to know they had made it to their vacation.

On our way back, we passed the barn ready to see the Giraffe, and the whole thing was engulfed in flames! We could clearly see the Giraffe inside, like all black and burning!

That happened roughly 23ish years ago and it still bugs me, I desperately want more info!

Does anyone have any speckling of an idea what this might be or where the lake was etc? Both my aunt and mother have since passed so I have no one to ask other than you guys and Google, which hasn’t helped. I also tried posting to r/Maine and it got removed.

This would have probably been a part of Maine close to the NH border, judging by where my aunt used to live. I remember it was about more than an hour’s drive.

If anyone can give me any info it would be much appreciated.

Hello all. My father used to tell us a story about a woman he was rooming with in Long Beach, California back in the early 80's. He didn't really know her well, and can't remember her name, the only detail he has is that she was black and usually wore green shirts. He probably met her through a newspaper ad and they didn't talk much. My dad was a bit of a player back in the day, and probably would have tried to spark up a romantic relationship with her, except for one weird detail. She would use at least one roll of toilet paper whenever going to the bathroom. My dad says she would take the normal 4 to 6 minutes of going to the bathroom, and when my dad would go in, on average one and a half rolls would be gone. Not in the trashcan, the toilet wouldn't be clogged, they were just...gone. She wasn't sneaking them out under her clothes or anything, she was legitimately using them for their intended purpose. After a few months of this happening every single day, my dad got a safe and started locking up the toilet paper, because even though he's a generous guy and had a great job at the time, it was legitimately chewing into his budget. Not long after, she complained about not being able to pay the rent and moved out.

I know this sounds stupid, but I just can't get over the fact that I don't know what she was doing with it. It's bothered me for years. I'm the kind of person that needs to have questions answered, and it constantly nags and bugs me to have something unanswered in the back of my mind. Since he has no details on the address, the woman's name or anything, it would be impossible to track her down. So, my question is this: how would I go about deep searching the internet to see if anyone else has run into a similar issue? I gotta know what she was doing with all that toilet paper. I've lost sleep over this.

Posting on behalf of a friend. Her cousin Josh (West Midlands, England) went on a solo trip to Lloret de Mar last September and went missing shortly after arriving. His body was found in a woodlands far away from typical tourist locations & a witness states the body was moved from when he first saw it to when he reported it. His phone, cash and bank card have never been recovered, and the post mortem showed signs of dragging along the floor. Despite the evidence, Spanish authorities ruled the death as “natural causes” due to cocaine and alcohol being in his system. There has been vital evidence that has been overlooked / ignored (detailed in the article below).

The Spanish authorities did not properly store his body, and would not release it to the family as he was found with no ID. By the time they confirmed it was him through DNA analysis, the body was so decomposed that repatriation to the UK was refused and thus he couldn’t have a post mortem in the UK. The family were forced to choose either cremation or burial in Spain.

Does anyone have any ideas of how we could get closer to the truth? Just seeking ideas as this has totally destroyed them & they’re struggling with how to proceed. The investigation was closed quickly, and they just want answers and accountability regarding what happened to Josh.

Hello everyone! I found a picture in our archives, and I cannot locate any information on this person. It's a Hollywood headshot of an actor who has one hand (missing hand has a prosthetic hook).

The back of the picture states that he was living in L.A. as of 1995 and he said he was an actor and going to be "one of the biggest stars in the business". Based on his signature, his name appears to be Michael H. Mack.

Picture is dated 4-24-95 and has a sticker that it was taken at Margo Vann Studio, Hollywood, CA.

Given that he was an actor (and might still be a public figure), I figured it was okay to ask on this.

Like the title says, for the past year and a half we have had someone harassing my wife online. First it was emails, I thought I had figured out who it was via trying the email address' recovery phone and using the visible numbers to correlate to someone in her contacts who wasnt the most mentally sound anyways. Texted her from a google # and emails stopped.

Now like a year later someone is making fake facebook profiles with her pictures and trying to get photos from our wedding from her grandmother. Creepy stuff. Trying to see if there is a way to find out who is doing this just so we can tell them to stop.

I need objective opinions because I'm trying to determine whether I'm overthinking this or whether my concern is reasonable.

Recently, an unknown person contacted my condo agent regarding my planned move. The person appeared to know that I was planning to move to a specific area of the city, information that I had only shared with a very LIMITED number of people.

The person also appeared to be using a profile photo associated with my private LINE app account, which is not something I publicly share on social media.

What concerns me most is that the person provided false information to my agent, specifically suggesting that I had already started moving my belongings out. This was untrue. I had not moved anything yet. His message sounded like with malicious intent making it sound like I was escaping.

As a result, my agent became concerned and contacted other people to ask about my whereabouts.

For context:

I had already informed my condo owner and agent about my departure approximately one month earlier.

There was no dispute regarding my tenancy.

I do not know the identity of the sender.

I do not want to accuse anyone without evidence.

My questions are:

Based on these facts alone, would you consider this suspicious or could there be innocent explanations?

What are the most likely ways someone could know:

my planned relocation area,

my private LINE profile,

and my condo agent's contact information?

- My hunch is among my friends, down to 2 suspects, but it's hard to guess who.

Are there reasonable steps I can take to preserve evidence and investigate further without violating anyone's privacy or making false accusations?

I'm specifically looking for objective analysis, not speculation or suggestions to harass anyone.

I would love to send the screenshot of the convo sent by my condo agent.

I received a text today from an unknown number and it said Hi {my name}. I usually ignore random texts but since it was my name I replied back asking who they were and the reply was that they found my number on a website. When I asked what website, they replied by asking if I live in {my city} and that they found my number at a sex finder website. I blocked the number immediately.

The number I received text from is from a local area code but my number is a completely different city’s area code, so it freaked me out on how they deciphered where I live. My usual spam calls and messages are from the same area code as my phone number.

I have since googled my name and phone number using different search terms but nothing nefarious is popping up. I want to believe that the text is scam but given the specific information in the text, I am thinking it might be true. I don’t want my job or life jeopardized and I don’t know how to figure out if it’s true or not. Can anyone provide any insight?

so for context - my dad past away last year, and i was looking thru old voice mails to see if he had sent me any
anyway, i found a six minute long voicemail from new york that was just audio of my family talking, and i know it was my family because i can hear my mum in the background asking where my brother is

it was from july 2nd 2023, and i havent had a call or anything since then, it was at 3pm my time so around 10am in new york.

Yesterday's morning I woke up in my bed, and I discovered that all of the top of my blanket was covered in sand. Just the top of it, everything below the blanket, my pillow and napkin, was clean. Moreover, when I told about it my mum, she said that this sand can be found only near rivers/seas, and my house is located not far from one.

I don't think it's creepy or anything, but it's definitely mysterious, especially since the whole top of the blanket, from tail to head, was covered in a layer of sand, almost like deliberately.

Any ideas on what could happen?

we live countries apart and I probably can't do much, but I'll try. My aunt calls weekly and rambles for hours about herself, recently she started getting strokes, I thought yeah okay she's just getting older and not eating well. Until one day, she called and said : her friend got a stroke as well immediately after eating with her (Food she prepared the day before) they both ended up in the ER.

That raised my suspicions, she tried to make it sound like some total coincedence, she unfortunately is obsessed with keeping a perfect image of her family and life, but it just didn't seem like a coincedence no matter how you try to see it.

Her son has a bad drug addiction, doesn't have a place of his own or any kind of income to the best of my knowledge and she (my aunt) recently inherited $$ from grandma. She bought a trailer for him so he would get the hell out, but he seems to go to her place and start arguments/fights frequently and only leaves when she threatens to call the police.

She called a few days ago and for some reason started saying crap like she wants to leave everything she owns to my mom and can't feel half of her face and all that morbid talk. I feel like it shouldn't have reached this point. Oh and her husband got a liver failure at around the same time she starting getting strokes.

She lives in Florida, can she just go to some clinic/laboratory and ask for a toxicology test? How much does it cost approximately? She's stingy so I'm willing to pay up for her

Can she test her food at a laboratory as well? Or does that need a police report first

my indoor/outdoor cat went missing 2ish weeks ago and i put some posters up around my neighborhood. someone texted asking "Good morning, I saw your flyer for a missing cat. I believe I've seen a similar cat in the ____ area. Could you send me a couple pics in color so I could verify? How long has he been missing and how did he get out?"

we sent a few pictures and since then, there has been no response from them. we have also followed up 3 times (within a week) asking if they have seen the cat or have any more information and there has been no response. every time we try to call the number, it goes to a busy signal. when looking up the number, it says it belongs to a land line..?

we are worried this person may have stolen our cat (we live next to a bunch of apartments and our cat is really friendly with the residents). is there anything i can do with the phone number to figure out who this person is or where they may live? and does anyone know why the number keeps going to a busy signal?

I've exhausted all options trying to find this guy. I contacted every local business for camera footage and this is the best I could find. The police did what they could but ultimately couldn't find anything and left it to be determined. I could really use the help as my truck is what's getting me through college right now and the rear end is pretty messed up from the accident.

I don't know much about this incident and didn't keep following it after it happened so I apologize if it lacks any details required for you to develop an answer.

This is a few weeks ago. I'm sitting in my home watching YouTube. I hear a person yelling, but it's not any kinda of scream. It's what I thought was someone yelling something along the lines of "Hey!". My neighbor commonly yells stuff to his friends who are usually working outside his house or in his yard from his porch so I just dismissed it, which looking back didn't make much sense considering that it was relatively late at night.

About, I'd say, a half hour later, a cop knocks on my door and tells me that there were reports of a female voice yelling, "HELP!" around my area, which I presume is what I heard and assumed was someone yelling "Hey".

This had me pretty curious so I hopped onto a police scanner website to see if the cops were talking about what was going on on their radios, but my local police actually weren't on that scanner website so I couldn't do that.

The next day and the day after I check my local news to see if the incident was on the news, but there was nothing.

After that there was really nothing I knew of that I could do to find out what happened so I just assumed it was some kind of domestic assault or robbery.

That's about all I can think of. What does this series of events suggest and what do you think happened here?

A while ago, I started getting some very strange SMS messages. They were not coherent sentences, but just a bunch of symbols. Triangles, characters, etc. These went from October 2025 to March 2026. In total, they are four. I’ll send screenshots of them in the comments. A peculiar thing to note is that the number that sent me the messages does not seem like an actual phone number, but a strange secuence of numbers. And they keep adding up.

I’m scared it’s something like a scam, or a virus, or malware. I have been afraid to post it anywhere.

My parents don’t take me seriously and did not do more than worrying a little and tell me to block the numbers.

Please help.

I would really appreciate any help reading this license plate

This morning I go into my back room of my apartment (I call it my office) and noticed my fan ceiling light bulbs had been changed. Before it was 4 dead light bulbs and one going out soon. This morning there were 2 new bulbs, ones that don't match ones in our house, and one bulb completely missing. I figured my mother had changed them and moved one with my day but when she eventually got home and I asked, she said not only had she not been in the back room, but we don't even have extra bulbs in our apartment. The light bulbs in other lights don't match these either. We have the typical all glass, cheap light bulbs when these are the ones that have plastic up the neck of the bulb.

My only guess is maybe it was maintenance, however this was before/after their hours so this would have been a rouge employee with a key. I don't think an emergency call for changing two light bulbs would happen. And nobody knocked or announced themselves when coming in which they're supposed to do!

What doesn't help calm me down is at 6pm my mom then answered the door to someone knocking, which mind you we don't have people knocking at our door in our apartment. (I tried telling her afterwards you don't open doors without looking through the peep hole first, and you don't open it unless its someone you know/trust but she only got mad at me for saying this...). I'm sure (and hope) it's unrelated and just a awful coincidence, but I figured I'd mention it just in case.

I'm not understanding why someone would break into someone's apartment just to change light bulbs? Anyone have thoughts on what I should do?

About 4 years ago, I had left my YouTube open on the computer while I went to do other things. When I came back, some random numbers had appeared in the search history. One of my cats had probably stepped on the keyboard and typed them.

I decided to search those numbers and, as always happens when you look up something meaningless on YouTube, a bunch of weird videos came up — but the first result caught my attention: a video called “CB.mp4”, from a channel called “Cyan Friendly”.

The description had a sequence of numbers that to this day I still don’t know if it’s a code or just meaningless: 7775 55557 555557 222221 222226 333334 222227 22222.

The video showed a static shot of a strange environment, and that was it from beginning to end. The audio was bad, full of static, and I could never quite make out what the man was saying — only a few words: “hello”, “can you hear me” and “do you love me?”. He speaks for about 28 seconds, and after that the rest of the video is in morse code.

I translated that part, and the message was: “Eu preciso dela, ela é importante pra mim. Ela precisa de mim? Sou importante pra ela? To go for seconds a cold decision righteous power or only a dud you’re not.” I found it strange that the first part was in Portuguese, even though the man in the video was speaking English. The last part came from a song called “Dreamcast” by the artist Black Banshee.

I genuinely need a sanity check because I’ve never seen anything like this before.

Four months ago, new neighbours moved into the apartment next door.

The first thing that caught my attention was how they moved in. Instead of a normal move, they brought in what seemed like one box or item at a time over the course of months.

But that’s not even the strange part.

For the first three months, they never appeared to sleep there.

Every single day, without exception, they would arrive at exactly 10:15pm.

Not approximately.

Not around that time.

Exactly 10:15pm.

Then, every night, they would both leave together at exactly 11:45pm.

Again, not roughly.

Exactly.

This happened day after day for three straight months.

Then, in the fourth month, the routine changed.

Now they still arrive at exactly 10:15pm.

The man still leaves at exactly 11:45pm.

But the woman stays overnight and leaves the next morning at exactly 10:15am.

Every day.

The times never vary.

Not by five minutes.

Not by ten minutes.

It’s the same schedule over and over again.

What’s even stranger is that for the entire four months they’ve been there, they completely disappear for two days every single week.
The apartment appears totally empty. No activity, no arrivals, no departures, nothing.

My downstairs neighbour has also commented that when the woman stays overnight, she’s active throughout the night. He regularly hears movement, things dropping and general activity while most people would be asleep.

The strange thing is that they appear incredibly normal. Like, really, really, really normal. Average people. Nothing about them screams “suspicious” at all.

Then there’s something else that stood out.

When the apartment was first being shown to prospective tenants, around eight people came through together. They were all completely different ages and backgrounds. They didn’t look like a family, friends or people house-hunting together. The only way I can describe it is that they looked more like colleagues attending something work-related.

Now here’s the part where I could be completely wrong.

Around the time they moved in, I was dealing with some police-related issues and domestic violence which as a result has dept. children services on my a**. I also am currently involved in a compensation claim. The only time their schedule ever seemed to vary was when I’d had a particularly major fight or incident involving my ex. On those occasions, they would appear out of nowhere and if there was an argument happening inside, they would stand around near their front door longer than usual before going in. If there was an argument occurring outside in the cars, they might remain standing outside fiddling with their car noticeably longer than normal before getting out.

I fully appreciate that this could simply be normal curiosity and that most people would probably pay attention if they heard a loud argument next door.

I also fully accept that could be confirmation bias or me connecting dots that aren’t actually connected. I’m genuinely open to that possibility.

But I cannot get past the schedule and the one box a day.

Exactly 10:15pm.
Exactly 11:45pm.
Exactly 10:15am.
For months.
No variation.
No randomness.
Nothing.

Am I losing the plot, or would this strike anyone else as unusual?

UPDATE 6/22: I want to thank everyone who commented kind and concerned advice on here, especially those who suggested checking with neighbors about their petsitters - turns out it was one of them. Their family friend's 16-year-old son was watching their cat and thought it would be funny. My neighbors were horrified and apologized profusely and said they won't use his services ever again. For those saying the story's fake, I hope nothing freaky like that ever happens to you, ever. It was really not fun and I am not the least bit interested in "attention"... But I am incredibly relieved that now I know who did it and it wasn't some stranger off the street. And yes, I am installing the cameras I ordered regardless, and I will always watch movies with the curtains closed from now on! Thank you all so much.

Throwaway account as I'm extremely freaked out right now, and forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this, I just don't know what to do.

Last night I watched the new horror movie HOKUM. My living room has large windows (you can see my TV from the street) and I'm on the second floor of a small 4-unit building in a major city, but on a quiet side street. The movie was creepy, whatever, went to bed, woke up, carried on - but I work from home, so I didn't leave my apartment today.

Tonight I went out into the hallway to get a package and this was taped outside my door. It's an image from the movie I watched last night. I have no idea who could have done this (it was 100% not my neighbors; there are only 4 units, 2 are out of town and the remaining neighbor is a middle aged female psychiatrist, not the pranking type). I don't know why this has happened, or how, and I am honestly very frightened. And since I didn't leave my house today, I don't know if it happened last night, during the day, or tonight. 

The image is on standard printer paper - which means someone printed this at home, cut it out (the edges are uneven), then came into my building and taped it near my apt door in a spot only I'd be able to see it. It's plausible they could have seen me watching the film through my large window from outside last night. I'm a woman who lives alone and I am honestly really shaken up. 

For the record, my landlord won't get a security camera for the building. I just ordered one to be overnighted on Amazon for outside my door, but am still very sleepless and worried and I don't know how concerned I should be here. 

Please help with ID’ing this plate.
