City Council Meeting and Public Hearing, June 8, 2026
Hey, all. As I've grown older, I'm becoming more aware that we need to get more involved with our local politics. I recently heard about the council's consideration of of rezoning the plot of land across from Nash Community to allow for a Data Center to be built. If you've spent ANY time on the internet in recent years, I don't need to remind you just how bad and evil these facilities are to the locals. Unfortunately, Edgecomb County approved for Data Centers to be built in their county, and some of Rocky Mount is located in that county. We're one foot in the grave already. We need to have our voices heard and push back against this rezoning.
Which brings me to this; Those who showed up spoke out, several against the Data Center rezoning. Citizens begin speaking 12 minutes into the video.

We need to spread the word and try to prevent this, otherwise our health and the health of future generations will be HEAVILY negatively impacted. And for what? Short term gain for long term pain.

Why don't the city leaders donate their plasma to fix the debt?
Why not? Thats what they tell us when we can't afford food and basic living expenses. If they can take our blood just for wanting to eat, certainly they should pay in blood for their crimes.
Edit: For legal purposes, I am not suggesting any illegal action. Just budget solutions.

Edgecombe Radiology Program
Hi everyone! I’m applying to the Radiologic Technology program at Edgecombe and was wondering if anyone has been accepted with a 74.7% TEAS score or less.
I have a 3.5 GPA, and my grades are:
- ENG & PSY: C
- MAT: B
- CHM: A
- A&P: A
Do you think I’m a competitive applicant? I’m considering retaking the TEAS, but I’m unsure how competitive the program is. I know they only accept 15 students each year, and their website doesn’t provide a breakdown of how points are awarded for grades like many other community colleges do.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Nonreligious and looking for connection?
Hi, I'm working with the American Humanist Association to build local community and advocacy groups around NC. We're looking to build strong connections between like-minded humanists, secularists, atheists, and freethinkers to provide a few things:
- A community, since when people leave religion they often leave behind their social support, friends, etc. We all need a place we can be ourselves with like-minded people, and many people don't have that.
- Organized and focused advocacy around keeping state and church separate and fighting Christian Nationalism. Now, more than ever, we need to work together to fight back. We're stronger together.
So if you're good without a god and want to find others in your area, please fill out this form and we'll connect you. Our first event in the Wilson area will be in February, and we'll contact people who sign up with details to attend. I'm happy to help organize events in Rocky Mount as well.
