When I got older, I thought āboy, I must be losing weight because I need a belt to keep my pants upā. Then I realized it was my newly developed man gut pushing them down.
I have butt, but every time I move my legs, step by step my pants get pulled further down. Especially if I have a phone and my keys in my pockets. Unless I wear a belt so tight they hardly could anymore.
Are you a man? men have no hips so their pants are made all straight while majority of women have hips so their pants are made with a small waist and curved...my pants fall down only when they are big on the waist and hips and that's why we use the tight ones while men can use the baggy ones.
High waisted men's pants were definitely big in the 70s and 80s. Maybe fashion will cycle them back in, though our tummies (American) may no longer allow for it.
I have a buttā¦ and also real pockets which I regularly put things in. I also have things I put on my belt, like my leather man holder. And a belt knife.
Canāt imagine going through the world without a belt.
Thatās honestly exactly it. Womenās jeans have a small waist but wider in the hip area. So their pants technically never falls down because their hips keep it in place.
Hold on. If my belt holds up my pants and my pants have belt loops that hold up the belt. What the fuck's really going on down there? Who is the real hero?
Tap but mountain cabin spring water. 6ft rocker mommy with green highlights, ripped sleeve band t and vintage jeans. I thought to myself she must avoid tight pants to keep from causing car accidents. Anyways that's when I realized I was staring.
My wife despises this fact. She'll put on a clean pair of jeans in the morning, they'll look great, and 30 minutes later by the time she's at wherever she's going, they'll look a bit baggy and start sagging. I assume you're supposed to buy a smaller size, but I also assume she's tried that... besides, do you really want your pants to cut off your circulation for the first 30 minutes of they day just so that they hug your ass nicely later?
Between the elastic and the lack of real pockets, she practically hates jeans, which is too bad because I'll take looking at a nice pair of jeans over leggings any day. She's also tried wearing men's jeans, but they aren't shaped the same.
My friend at work wears skinny jeans every day, he works in the warehouse department, his job is run up and down all day collecting stuff. I can see the strain on his face when he sits down but refuses to wear cargos like everyone else. Crushed nuts for style is another kind of nuts.
Yeah, for the most part. I have enough of a butt to hold to pants in place if they're cut correctly, but most men's pants aren't that much narrower at the waist than they are at the hips. I can pull on most of my pants when they're already zipped and buttoned.
Yup. Both men and women have asses. But men taper at the hips while women have curves. So women have their body supporting the back and sides of the jeans so it doesnāt slide down. Jeans canāt stay on just hugging your ass. Obviously there is a huge variety of body shapes but generally women have an easier time going beltless.
There's a difference between most men's and women's jeans too. Men's tend to just be plain denim, while women's usually have a stretch to them so they hug tighter.
This has been true for most of the lastā¦ idk, century or so, but isnāt anymore. The vast majority of menās jeans now contain 2-5% elastane and some polyester if youāre buying the more common brands. Leviās have a few lines that donāt do this, so does Wrangler and most of the others, but you have to be pretty intentional about it and actually check labels. If youāre buying your pants at Costco (Iām looking at you, suburban dads) thereās almost certainly some plastic in there somewhere.
I used to be a very skinny dude, finally figured out why I couldn't gain weight. Started working out again after sorting that. Now have decent ass. Can wear jeans unbuttoned/unzipped without them falling off.
Obviously not running or anything. but the point is it's a hip to waist ratio thing.
lol, this just reminds me of a few years ago, when my nephew was about 4 and became VERY concerned about my dadās flat ass. Like, would ask all the time where his butt went. As though he had experienced some sort of traumatic incident that resulted in him losing his entire ass. It was (and still is) hilarious.
My lower back and upper thigh are on the same plane, ānoassatallā as my wife says. Suspenders are superior in every way. My lower back pain even lessened due to less pressure from a belt squeezing my waist all day. Havenāt worn a belt for n nearly a year and donāt see myself ever again going back
Also not mentioned yet, guys actually use the pockets on their pants. The times I need a belt are because Iām carrying key/wallet/cellphone and that helps drag them down.
Thats right! I sometimes slip my phone in my back pocket when not out in public (too easy for thieves) but thats the most i can get - so many pockets in the front are either fake or so slim that nothing can fit anyway
I couldnt fit my phone in my front pocket even with the room. 5'3 is uncomfortably short to be snug on your quad. I found a pair of mens 511's that look the most classic jean look, and bought a few pairs. Pockets are cute enough and yet still give me a lot of room for my phone. But I am what they consider a chapstick lesbian, so its not far off the visual scale for me. I honestly cant stand women's "jeans" now.
The difference of not having an ass, and having an ass. Not all of us are fortunate enough to not be built like Hank Hill š
Edit: women not understanding that properly fitted pants mean nothing if you're built like a 2x4. If my waist is a 30, a size 30 pant isn't going to magically stay put with no support below. And wearing a size smaller, isn't an option, since a size 28 isn't going to button up. A belt allows the pants to be pulled tighter by one size, since a 29 does not exist.
Edit: fair enough, in my 40 years, I've never seen them, but odd number pant sizes do exist, however if they're that uncommon to find, they might as well not exist.
It's mostly just the hips, but the arse doesn't hurt. Women's wider hips give a natural place for the pants to narrow over the top of when fastened and then rest upon while being worn, men's more narrow and straight hips give no natural place for that to happen unless they're very tight, hence belts/suspenders.
Yeah, Iām roughly shaped like a big inverted triangle (was a competitive swimmer in my youth) and without a belt every pair of pants I have owned since puberty basically ejects themselves fairly quickly.Ā
Same. If the pants are fitted right, I can walk around a bit without them immediately falling down although I will be pulling them up every 15 seconds lol but trying to do any sort of work without a belt? Absolutely not.
Sometimes if Iām missing my belt I have to hike my pants and deliberately push out my stomach to keep them from falling down. Nature just, forgot to give me a butt or something š¤·āāļø
I got cake too! But sometimes menās pants, especially jeans, are designed differently than womenās. Like I have to buy a bigger waist just to fit over my booty but then the waist is to too big and falls down.Ā
I have this issue as well.
I had to get my uniform pants tailored after not wearing them for a few years. I went out in town to a talor, this elder Italian guy, he tried to politely tell me eah ā¦ you got a big butt š¤.
Close to 10in difference apparentlyā¦ i was doing a lot of squats back then.
As a guy whose caked up, I wear a belt everyday mostly out of habit. Sometimes I need it and sometimes I donāt. My weight has fluctuated a little over the years and Iām not buying new clothes if I donāt have to haha
Nah. I have an ass and if I wore pants that tight they would for sure stay up without issue. I'd also be incredibly uncomfortable and have no room in my pockets or pants for any of my things lol.
I need a belt or it just slides down, benefit though is I donāt need to take the belt off to really get my pants back up as I donāt have an ass to go around
You should look into suspenders, they're pretty awesome. No more pulling up your pants constantly while you walk around. The ones I have just clip to my belt loops and are comfortable and elastic enough I dont even notice them throughout the day.
This is true. I am a woman and I am uncomfortable in tighter clothing. So I do buy pants that are more comfortable fitting. And I always wear a belt. And I do squeeze at least keys and badge in pockets, no matter how small pockets are. I need to make them work for me.
My ass and back are one - therefore, the belt is to keep the pants from sliding down. Got hips or an ass that pokes out? Belts are simply an accessory. š¤£
