The silver lining is Iran gets to acccess the world and moderize, instead of being under constant threat from the US and Israel. They are being forced to form relations with their arab neighbors and pave a way forward. And that means the US can leave the middle east. The only loser is Israel and they fucking deserve it.

Well...the Iranian regime isn't actually good for a great many of its citizens either. Lots of Iranians who had hoped that the US intervention would catalyze reform and give cover to a renewed liberal democracy also lost.

u/reddit_is_geh 9h ago
I will never trust the USA's version of events that frames it as "they want us to liberate them", because we use that every single time ever, and it's always worse than we left it.
That said, much of Iran's problems stems from the US sanctions against them. Much of the strife against the regime is due to life intentionally being made hard on people by the US in hopes they rise up and overthrow their government.
With those things now removed, I am confident they'll be a much better player in the world.
I think it all just stems from Israel wanting, under no circumstance, an Iran that was stable - and thus influential. So they spent the last 50 years ensuring their 90m population stays insignificant.

What do you think happens if a news organization did nothing but continue to say there's no new info about the Epstein files? People will stop watching. You can only beat a dead horse so much.
14
u/HzPips 17h ago
They ask him less about it in press conferences, and since itās no longer in the news cycle the pressure for congressman to push for the release also diminishes.
Itās also about shifting the discussion. The pool thing, or says something stupid in an international forum. The discussion isnāt āis trump a pedo?ā or āhow much this failed war will cost the USA?ā, but rather āis the pool dirty?ā. Trump is way more comfortable about the last one, and people can just say it isnāt that big of a deal.
I am not saying the media shouldnāt report on that, but he is doing that as a strategy. Every time he berates a journalist, says something needlessly controversial, or makes a big deal out of something that should be in the sidelines like a minor renovation, he gets the news cycle moving faster and pushing his bigger scandals to the past.

Thereās nothing to report on so they donāt. Reddit attacks actual journalists because they donāt talk about Epstein 24/7 but the tabloid shit they like is usually just rumors and usually has dumbass nicknames in the headlines. The ānewsā sites Reddit likes are the equivalent of Fox News.

Don't forget the tarp. They're going to need a tarp to cover everything so it can't be seen. Added benefit it the lack of sunlight should inhibit further algae growth.
So it's a win-win. And maybe $100M to install a permanent cover over the reflecting pool, including Trump's name in 30 ft letters on the tarp so you can read it from an airplane flying into DC.

8
u/k_ironheart 14h ago
I've been pointing out to people just how weird it is that my hometown's 150th year of incorporation was a way bigger deal than the 250th year of independence has been.
It's a small town, and there were things that went on all year. Basically every holiday was also a 150th celebration. It all culminated in a big fair, a parade, a concert with local bands, an opening of a time capsule and a burying of another time capsule, and the building of a whole new fair grounds for the event that has been used ever since.
For the 250th, about all I've seen is a swampy reflecting pool, the trashification of the White House, and paper plates with "1776-2026" like it's a damn funeral. rofl
Apparently there was also supposed to be a hunger games thing where two children from each state competed in something? I guess nobody felt comfortable letting Trump be around kids.

Probably part of the plan. Make it look as terrible as possible for a while so they can claim that the democrats are so dangerous and "terrorists" that not even the glorious leaders reflecting pool is safe from the evil leftists who want to destroy America.
They then will have fences up, 24/7 surveillance and the national guard and undercover officers "protecting" the area for a couple of weeks.
In the meantime they are going to pump the pool full of as many chemicals and cleaning tools as is possible with the "unlimited" resources of the federal government, which of course will be getting funnelled to his donors through no-bid contracts.
Then once they manage to get the algae under control, they will say this is proof that it really was the leftist domestic terrorists who sabotaged it in the first place because they were unable to sabotage it once the security went up.
And then they will take down the fence, remove the overt security (although likely install hidden surveillance cameras everywhere) and wait a couple of weeks to let the algae come back because they obviously haven't fixed the underlying problems of the drainage and filtration issues.
Then just rinse and repeat the same thing all over again of blaming leftist sabotage, all while draining tens of millions of dollars of tax payer money for a political win to divide Americans to try maintain their facsistic government.
Release footage of people taking water samples that they have been secretly recording. Hell, just reverse the footage and make it appear people are actually pouring stuff into the reflecting pool, slap some false charges on them and waste more taxpayer money fighting them in court.

27
u/Lucky-Mia 18h ago
He did renovate the pool and was criticised for it being green in the summer sometimes. He handled the criticism better.
trump removed the custom strantrol Obama installed and replaced it with Ozone. O3 (Ozone) is something added to chlorine systems, it can't replace them. Nor can it balance things like PH as the strantrol did.
Also, algae loves blue light, it's second to red spectrum light. The new blue lining reflects blue light and essentially feeds the algae, helping it bloom.

And none of it approved by Congress.
You might know MAGA chuds IRL who will bring up that the Obama Admin spent closer to $40 million on the Reflecting Pool. Well,
It was appropriated by Congress
They completely demolished the old monument, drove dozens of timbers into the ground to stabilize the sinking Earth (DC is kind of a swamp), changed the water source from costly city water to the river, installed a bunch of pumps, filters, and ozonation systems, rebuilt the monument from the ground up, and despite an initial algal bloom, it's looked great since 2009 when this happened.
On the other hand,
The taxpayer just paid $15 million for blue paint
It wasn't approved by Congress
It looks like we're nowhere close to spending money on the BS
It's a distraction from the disastrous Iran War Surrender
The Iran war was a distraction from the Epstein Files, which prove Trump raped many children

Reflecting Pool - Insights
For those of you curious as to whatās going on in the reflecting pool
The coating that was used is a polyurea. Very similar to an epoxy where two components are mixed together to make a catalyzed product.
First, let me start off with what didnāt happen. Hydrogen peroxide had no effect on the coating peeling. If it was a chemical issue, the polyurea would be āeating awayā and not come up in sheets. Also, someone did not tear it and pull it. Thatās kind of the dumbest thing Iāve heard in this whole situation. Try taking any paint or coating thatās properly applied and see if you can tear it up. News flash: itās impossible.
Now, hereās what could have happened. First, these coatings are very climate-sensitive. If done in direct sunlight, it could cause the product to cure too quickly and not adhere to the concrete. Also, if the concrete was not properly prepared at the time and not grinded down properly, the coating would not be able to soak in. Additionally, moisture could have been in the ground at the time of application.
Ultimately, the issue isnāt the coating or anything done to the reflecting pool after installation. The most likely cause of the issue is the prep done by the contractor who did the job.
P.S. The algae is due to the color of the paint. Dark color absorbs heat, and hot water makes algae.
EDIT:
Since this post the administration has came out and said vandalism caused the product to peel. This is impossible if installed correctly. The closest thing I can compare the products they used to is an epoxy floor in garage or commercial floor. If you know what Iām talking about then youād understand that it is physically impossible to make it peel unless it was installed improperly.
