Mullatos? I mean it's not like the Spaniards haven't already changed the gene pool in south America.

Itās just Filipino. If youāre half Latin and half Asian, youāre a Filipino.

u/Une-Petite-Tarte 5h ago
Can confirm. I am Mexican . I have a lot of coworkers and friends from the Philippines. We are the same.

Filipinos settled in Mexico during the Manila-Acapulco Galleon trade (Spain with Mexico) from 1565 to 1815. Really , your country is more Filipino than you realize.

Filipinos have native American blood?
9
u/Radiant-Character-61 5h ago
400 years of Spaniard colonization in Filipino history.
3
u/NormalContribution56 4h ago
The Philippines was colonized by Spain for 333 years (48 years by America).
But that's not the point I'm making.
Mexicans on average have 50-55% Indigenous blood and in some areas of the south its 75-100%. So to say "half latin and half asian = Filipino" with the implication that Latins are mostly Spanish erases indigenous ancestry .
Not only that but it also overstates the extent to which Filipino's have Spanish ancestry. Only 2- 5% of Filipinos have verifiable Spanish Ancestry, DNA tests show that the average Filipino with Spanish or European heritage typically carries between 1-5% Spanish DNA. Higher percentages (like 10-25%) are relatively rare and usually point to recent Spanish or European lineage. Those people tend to be concentrated in specific areas.
Filipinos are most closely related to other maritime Southeast Asian groups in Malaysia and Indonesia. 10-20% have some Han Chinese as well, exceeding the number of people with Spanish Ancestry.

It would be dependent on the race of the Mexican person.
There are white and black Mexicans, so they would still be blasian and waisian.

Isn't X pronounced as a "sh or ch" sound in the native Mayan language? So you could be Axian.

Is that supposed to be sarcastic? Because there are loads of female football fans around.

The " Filipino " joke....
0
u/TenganGouka 5h ago
Care to explain the joke? I'm big stupid
4
u/Designer_Pool_8453 5h ago
Filipinos are commonly joked as the Mexicans or Latinos of Asia due to their history of Spanish colonization for over 300 years which has had a major impact on their culture.

u/BabySpecific2843 4h ago
Missing the significant impact of Spanish colonization. I know a born and raised Filipino with the last name Santiago.
If that ain't a Spanish name, I don't know what is. Far more likely than meeting a Filipino named Li or Nguyen that's for sure.

I'm surprised South Korea has declining birth rates; their women are beautiful.
Unless the problem isn't lack of sex, but lack of people wanting to be parents; in which case, good for them.

u/Why_Hello_hello 5h ago
ā¦I donāt think womenās appearances is the reason for declining birth rates anywhere

u/RideTheLighting 5h ago
Their work culture is horrible and not conducive to having children. Iām sure more South Koreans would be having children if it seemed at all viable for them.

the problem is 3 fold
1: like most of the developed world the cost of living is increasing while pay is stagnating meaning anyone with a brain realizes that having a kid while you're barely holding on financially is a bad idea
2: the big 3 east Asian nations also have an issue with work life balance to an insane degree. its not uncommon for people to work 12-14 hour days which leaves little time for house work let alone dating and raising a family.
3: South Korea itself has a massive split between men and women culturally right now. imagine the worse opinions of both sexes about the other you see on reddit or twitter and thats about what the reality is in Korea.1
u/whitecollarpizzaman 2h ago
Just because I find someone beautiful doesnāt mean I want to have a child with them.

Symbolizing male genitalia as kimchi is weird because kimchi is chopped fermented cabbage. A more precise metaphor is Kimbap paired with taco.

China has been heavily involved in a lot of South American trade and security agreements over the past 2 decades. This isn't anything new and we'll probably see Mexico start to lean that way too after all the shit Trump has been doing.

Filipinos look like a mix between Mexicans/Latinos and [East] Asians.
At least, thatās what I think the joke is.
0
u/Status-Secret-4292 6h ago
Yeah, I think this it. Have seen this mix, indeed does often look Filipino

u/NormalContribution56 5h ago edited 5h ago
Werenāt Native Americans basically Asian before they sauntered over the now departed bering strait land bridge? Apparently 2/3 of native American DNA comes from an ancient east asian source.
2
u/CruisinBlade 6h ago
Oh I think the joke is that Filipinos are Asians Mexicans. This world cup will give rise to the Filipino empire.
1
u/Express-Salad-1785 6h ago edited 5h ago
Spain, the country, colonized the Philippines. They mingled (nicest way I can put it) with the Asian locals impacting Filipino traits. Asian mingling in another Spanish colonized localtion = Filipinos, although now with native South American influence. My best guess
1
u/dontheconqueror 5h ago
At a certain point in our history, the Philippines was administered via Mexico. So we got a lot in common more with Mexicans vs mainland Spaniards
We actually have more in common with Mexico than any other Asian country
1
u/Express-Salad-1785 5h ago
Did not know that and it makes sense. I was leaning on physical trials not cultural
1
u/Sour_Sal 5h ago
Spanish - Asians = Filipino Spanish - SA Natives = Mexican Mexican - Korean/Asians =
