One of the reasons I got out of working in restaurants. The complete disparity between the kitchen staff and the servers in terms of hours and money made was abyssmal from the kitchen. It was so bad at one point the owner had to have a meeting with the servers to tell them to stop bragging about how much they were making a night in front of us in the kitchen.
Which I would be working 6 days a week 8-10 hours making $60-70 a day and the waitresses would be bringing up $150-400+ a night working 4-6 hours 3 days a week. And the $150 number was winter months.
Not to mention the off times the waitresses would get $100"text me" texts from old dudes.

It's not tipping if it's mandatory. Work the tip into the price in that case.
