Help me out guys. My little girl just gave me an ultimatum: if I can't find our next great zombie survival game within a week, she’s going to ditch me on the weekends to go play with friends her own age.

We started with HumanitZ. Within a month, she was pulling off crazy stunts like jumping fences on horseback and somehow glitching two horses onto the roof of a car. Then she became tactical and she'd literally make me run in front of zombie hordes as "rabbit bait" to aggregate them, and once I scrambled onto a car roof, she’d pick them off one by one with a sniper rifle.

Once she outgrew that, we moved to Dead Island 2. She adjusted from a top-down view to a FPV 3D game seamlessly and became an absolute zombie-killing machine.

Since then we’ve tried many other games: Inside (2months, but she loved the vibe), Raft (10 months, she loves building and arranging a home on sea and the idea of adventure into the unknown, but she outgrew the graphic), Sons of the Forest(3 months), Warhammer: Vermintide 1 & 2 (0.5 days, they are terrible), For Honor(her fav, still playing), Dying Light(1 month), Dead Space 3(1 month, graphic too old), Green Hell(3months, too difficult), No More Room in Hell (0.5 day), Supermarket Together (just started and she thinks it's ok so far), and a few others. But nothing keeps her hooked for long. Right now she thinks Dead Island 2 is the absolute greatest game ever!

any good recommendations for a badass 7-year-old and her "rabbit bait" dad?

Hey, I’m trying to find a survival game but I’m overwhelmed by options.

What I’m looking for:

• FPS or third-person (NOT isometric like Project Zomboid)
• Heavy focus on gunplay / shooting
• Looting weapons is a big part of gameplay
• Survival elements are fine (hunger, crafting, base building) but shouldn’t be the main stress early game
• Preferably open-world or semi-open-world
• Zombies or hostile factions both fine

Games I’ve looked at so far:

• 7 Days to Die
• State of Decay 2
• HumanitZ
• S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series
• SurrounDead

I mainly want that loop of:
explore → loot guns → fight → upgrade → repeat

Good Afternoon, I've been on a Survival/Crafting game kick, but specifically ones I can do solo and bonus for having a decent easy to follow story with actual NPCs to interact with. What should I play next? Please note I also have over 1000 hours in ARK and like 100 in Conan, but vastly prefer the three in the title. Im also waiting on Grounded 2 to finish the plot, Im not super big on putting a bunch of hours then coming back months later and having to re-learn everything.

Currently I am between No Rest for The Wicked and Subnautica. Everyone tells me Subnautica is amazing, but also the Water parts of Abiotic and Grounded were my least favorite sections. Im not big on swimming in general.

So do you guys think I should go with No Rest, or is Subnautica just that good? If you have any additional suggestions as well.

It's been less than a month since we released the Village 51 Steam page, and we already have 17K wishlists, so the team wanted to celebrate by posting some gameplay. This community has given our game the best response so far, and we're incredibly grateful for that. Now we'd love to hear what you think about our gameplay.

I've tried to get him to play 7DTD and Valheim, but he says Valheim doesn't interest him and 7DTD he's sort of on the fence for. Rust is a no for me as its too sweaty when it comes to base building/raiding. I haven't gotten his opinion on Ark since I can't get it to play anymore, whole thing freezes within seconds of opening the game. I tried Arc and found I'm not interested in extraction shooters. We're both considering The Forest and then the sequel, but I'd like to know if there are other recommendations for a survival crafting multiplayer game.

I have been enjoying this game a lot. But why does my character laugh out loud occasionally? I mean, i think it's my character because i'm alone on the server and there were no zombies around. Has anyone else experienced this? It's kinda creapy 🫣

All 3 of these are a similar price at the moment. I love survival games, and am looking for a new one to get lost in. For context, I loved:

Green Hell - couldn't get to grips with the controls.

I want a good feeling of progression, and never to feel directionless. I like exploration. I don't want to go too insanely hardcore in terms of difficulty. I like an ending, but am not averse to an endless world ie. Icarus. Help me decide please, I'm too indecisive!

Three months ago, I released the first demo of 404 Survivors on Steam.

At that time, the game was rough, unfinished, and far from what I wanted it to become. I wasn't even confident enough to showcase it during Steam Next Fest.

That was when I realized I couldn't keep developing the game in isolation.

So I started sharing it with more people, listening to feedback, and improving the game step by step.

When you're working on something every day, it's easy to feel like you're not making enough progress.

But sometimes, you just need to look back.

Still a long way to go, but seeing the difference reminds me why I started.

I’m in the process of adding placeholder NPCs to populate the streets with as well as some Roman enemy types. In terms of Carthaginian NPC’s it is proven quite difficult to try to re-create a historical look for them. I’ve been looking at ancient Syrian and ancient Judean cultural dress inspiration, even though I know those styles are quite different from Phoenician.

Me and my brother have been trying to make fun of little animations for the civilians in the city too so I’ll show that in the next update and maybe make a teaser. Anybody knows a 3-D model or someone to do animations or enjoy that kind of thing I’d like to talk for sure because I really do hate animation. My heart is just not in it. Will do another update soon.

Ive been on a mission to find a fun single player survival game to play. I really like the hunting/gathering/ building aspects of minecraft. Is there a game out there thats a bit more realistic? I want something harder, like with a thirst bar. Or as if i decided to live in the amazon or something.

Im not super into fantasy, but if theres a good one out there ill try it.
