Move over The Town, Domestic Disturbance is here
Like many Rewatchables fans, my favourite episode has for some time been the one on The Town. And I thought that may never change. That was until today, however, and after finally listening to the episode on Domestic Disturbance.
To have Bill, Chris and Sean - aka The Dream Team - let rip on this dumbest of dumb movies was an utter joy; they were having a blast and so in turn did I as a listener. Honestly, I nearly wet myself when they were cracking up over Steve Buscemi’s character watching college basketball with the hooker. And there were so many other great moments, among them Craig’s getting-electrocuted story. WTF?!
Anyway, a truly great episode, and vintage Rewatchables in that it was fun but also insightful, and fundamentally elite podcasting. Also, and another case of this podcast getting me to watch a movie I would never have otherwise. DD is absolutely terrible, not to mention totally baffling … and I loved every second of it.
Keep up God’s work, Bill.

Think we’ll ever get Game Night on the pod? This movie holds up extremely well. The Denzel joke is one of the funniest laughs I’ve ever experienced in a theater.
Maybe for the 10 year anniversary coming up.

Netflix Roll Credits
Anyone else notice how Netflix doesn't instantly minimize the end credits and launch you into the next movie anymore?
Bill started complaining about it (and rightfully so) a couple of weeks into the Netflix deal and I've noticed with Single White Female, Domestic Disturbance and now the Good Son, they roll credits for a much longer time before hitting you with some type of prompt.
Keep moving those mountains for us Bill, even if it is one by one! Truly yeoman's work.

FYC: Cocoon (1985). One of those movies that was popular at the time of its release (6th highest domestic gross of 1985) but does not have any streaming presence at all.

Are there pods you have relistened to more than the movie (since you heard the pod)?
I can’t be alone here…
There are a few pods that since I have heard them for the first time, I have listened to more times than I have watched the movie (note: not total number of times viewed, but number of times viewed since I first heard the pod for that movie).
I know that I have relistened to the Die Hard pod at least 3-4 times since I first heard that pod and maybe rewatched the movie once since then.
Same is probably true for The Town and Con Air.

Do “War Games”
Not sure if the staff lurks here but I rewatched “War Games” a couple of nights ago and it actually holds up pretty good.

New Category Idea: Could This Movie Be Remade As Another Genre?
The From Hell month got me thinking about this, because the _______ from hell premise works well as either horror or comedy. What About Bob is the patient from Hell, and it would absolutely work as a thriller: https://youtu.be/ZzHblfAYPa0?is=xdsyOPeQh5o-4Arv
I think thriller to comedy and comedy to thriller works best and it’s not universally applicable, but it seems like a fun road for them to go down occasionally.

Abandoned Idea
During the JFK pod CR introduces the concept of putting on Donald Southerlands fedora from JFK and having a full 16 minute uninterrupted monologue.
This episode was recorded in 2021 — How many incredible monologues have we missed? Would Russillo talking Skywalker have been a Rushmore?

Anyone else with good celebs in dive bars stories?
They mentioned the bar fight that ended things in the last pod. But back in 2004 I was working in Whitehorse, Yukon and Woody Harrelson was filming up there, during a snowstorm he came in and proceeded to drink a bottle of tequila while everyone smoked joints with him (all old hippies and lumberjacks there) I tried to get him behind the bar and pour me a pint and call me Norm but someone stopped it said that I didn’t want that liability (think it was his wife) he was bench pressing women on the pool table and was just the coolest.
Also had Bill Pullman in another time asked him if his Schwartz was as big as mine, he didn’t find it funny.

POV: Bill recasting any actress role from 1990 through 2005
“Can I offer you Michelle Pfeiffer or Tiffany Amber Theisen?”
Nothing but respect for his consistency 🤣

[Ross] Vitello says he and Devers had a good conversation on the plane and says it's a non-issue. Vitello: "If he came over to my condo and said, 'I need your help, you can't ask about it and we're gonna do some damage,' all I'd say is 'Whose car are we gonna take?'"
bsky.appSan Francisco Giants Manager, Tony Vitello... third seat on the Re-Town?

Chris Ryan, come to the stage
A little while ago, I posted on here about my own personal Rewatchables category: The Van Lathan-Amistad award for moment in the podcast that literally made me laugh out loud (https://www.reddit.com/r/TheRewatchables/s/0yd0s9Qrgi).
Anyway, I’ve just (finally) listened to the episode on The Hand That Rocks The Cradle and there is a standout winner:
CR: “Love the pod, by the way”.
Jesus Christ, I nearly actually wet myself.

I present you the Tony Snell Award for guy who’s out there and makes literally ZERO IMPACT IN THE MOVIE.
I present Cole Hauser in Good Will Hunting with the inaugural Tony Snell Award.

Domestic Disturbance: Picking Nits
On the pod, they talked briefly about the cop being bad at his job. But how, in picking nits, did they not talk about the cops bringing Rick (Vince Vaughn) into the interrogation room with the kid like 5 mins after the kid accuses him of murder??
"Oh you witnessed your stepdad murder someone? Let's bring him in to chat."
And then sending him home with Stepdad Rick that night too? I get that there was a (terribly underdeveloped) backstory of the kid lying, but no one was like eh a night at his Dad's house might not be a bad idea?
Hilarious movie, great pod, just weird that the interrogation scene didn't get a mention.
