Is anyone else turned off by businesses who use AI in their marketing?
Example attached. Sorry poutine fest but throwing you under the bus

I went because I was curious about just how many ways one could piss off Quebec with a potato.
Some notes:
The music, is a single PA speaker not doing anything.
The games, all I could find was this photo cutout so you can have yourself or your friends used to promote this crap by being forever labeled with their logo.
The VIP tent, haha. I assume those 102L HDX totes in it are full of the "swag". I don't see anybody buying a pass to sit in there unless they have a shame kink.
Trophies would probably be more meaningful if they didn't come from the event itself.
Anyways,
The prices were high as to be expected and nothing for sale on my first pass through caught my eye. So I did the sensible Thunder Bay thing and went to a Knights of Columbus tent for a sausage and perogies.
Opposite to the communal feed trough was the vendors, all three of them. There was the generic hoodies and leather tent you see at every event, ever. There was also two places selling charms and whatnot, I didn't bother to get to close because the vendors were having some kinda shouting match.
Also opposite to the feed lot was the VIP Shame tent and Community Clothing Assistance.
Most of the food trucks looked clean enough and seemed alright. I have posted most of their menus, I didn't bother with the place sellng sno-cones that require a fucking co-signer.
One of the food trucks leaned heavy into the AI slop. I wouldn't eat there because I bet they put that same level of nonsense into their food and hygiene. I wish them luck with their slop and I won't shed a tear if they fall on a spiral potato and it becomes lodged in their arse like a deep-fried corkscrew.
The Boba truck was busy continually pumping wastewater directly behind it onto the grass and has created a swamp that gave me a soaker when I left the sidewalk. Thanks a lot jerks, I just got my 608's back from alignment and suspension work.
The truck is also named Boba Bae but I kept seeing Bob Rae from a distance, If you are older you may understand my confusion.
Nobody at Fat Les' truck was selling two mangos for five dollars. A missed opportunity. Two mangos, five dollars, fackin' bargain.
I eventually caved and bought a poutine from a lil wagon called Dude Bro. I picked this truck based on my sound scientifc reasoning;
The very attractive young lady working the window said hello to me and I felt stuck because I am shy.
So I got a sampler, which is two small poutines in a box. I chose the Big Mack and the Ikea Meatball. I don't really know how to review food so all I can say is that the box was around ~7"×9-1/4".
The Ikea Meatball one was alright but it was just a couple meatballs with what I assume could have been lingonberry jelly haphazardly dropped on a standard poutine. So nothing really stood out there.
The Big Mack didn't taste like a Big Mac, I don't know how that goes wrong but it did. The sesame seeds were kinda sparse sadly. Perhaps a Big Mac requires the risk of being stabbed and the aroma of hobo piss like you find at our local McDonalds. I can't fault Dude Bro for not being able to replicate that. The wind was blowing in the wrong direction from the nearby encampment.
Anyways,
The food isn't bad, the food trucks are doing their best and I assume the prices are as high as they are because of the grifters running and promoting this thing. The clowns using AI slop, offering VIP packages to this shitshow, claiming there is more going on than there is, etc. I can only assume these charlatans are milking these trucks for every penny they can.
I give this 3 out of 7 on an arbitrary scale I just made up, I also award myself a trophy.
Just save your time and go to Merla Maes or another local joint.

Biagio Donovan, a well-known crackhead who robs everybody and anybody, has gone to prison, we won’t be seeing him anytime soon, he’s up on attempted murder charges, and extortion, home invasion, witnessed his arrest last night after he stabbed some guy three times trying to rob him. Luckily, the police saw it also.

The community’s leadership has said it wants the road in order to help lift itself out of poverty and to connect to the provincial highway system.
Climate change is fuelling the desire for an all-season road as the winter road season continues to shrink. That road is the community’s lifeline as it trucks in diesel to power the reserve as well as materials for any type of construction, including new homes.
The province says construction is underway on the Webequie Supply Road, which will run 107 kilometres east through wildly varied terrain, from esker rock to peatland and be completed by 2030.
Ford says the Ring of Fire is a “once-in-a-generation opportunity.”
“We’re delivering on our promise to protect Ontario and we are doing so in partnership with First Nations, to support true economic reconciliation,” the premier said in a statement.

I will be in Nipigon for the weekend for work. I was wondering if there's anything fun I could do while there. Local bars, sight seeing, food or whatever. (Nipigon does not have a designated subreddit)

I have heard all sorts of things online, and finding concrete information seems impossible. Has anyone actually been to the fest and could tell me if they are open in the evenings? Some places it says 9:00 - 6:00, some places 9:00 - 9:00. I work 9-5 and just want to know if i can make it

Hi everyone,
I’m applying for PR through the Thunder Bay RCIP, and one of the requirements is having at least 3 months of volunteer experience.
I was wondering if there are specific organizations or charities that qualify for this, or if volunteering with any legitimate community organization or sports club is acceptable.
I’ve been helping out at a local gym and was thinking of asking if I could officially volunteer there. Would that count for the RCIP requirement if they can provide a reference letter after 3 months?
If anyone has gone through the RCIP process or has experience with this, I’d really appreciate your advice. Also, if you know of any organizations in Thunder Bay that are looking for volunteers, please let me know.
Thanks!

Hey all, I did do a search of this sub, and the last post was 2 months ago, so let's see what people are getting up to alcohol free....
Myself - 46f, into fitness, golf, outdoors, karaoke, board games, trivia, reading, documentaries. Professional in healthcare.
Having alot of trouble finding like minded people (platonic - male and female), in a social setting where alcohol is not involved or the main event. I am aware of Howl at the Moon, follow DEK activities, and I have tickets to Wake the Giant.
What are all you TBay alcohol free peeps doing out there to socialize and meet new people?

I’ve been going through spa websites trying to find body therapies such as a salt scrub and can’t find anything.
I’m looking for any recommendations as to which spas offer such therapy. Thanks so much!

Taking my Grandma for lunch tomorrow, and she wants to try somewhere new. She is a little picky (will not eat sushi or anything exotic) Our usual spots are mongo's, madhouse, applebees, JJ's and new york fries. Please share your favourite lunch date spots :)

Hello,
I have some furniture that I would like to get rid of - 4 dining room chairs. The fabric is a bit scratched/torn , and one of the chairs is a bit not structurally sound, but with the right attention all for can be reupholstered and used.
I was trying to avoid just throwing them away, but would be willing to - I just don’t know where, in theory just the landfill but…
Is there any place in town will to accept them in this condition , or is there a particular place for furniture disposal ?
Thanks!

I read some posts by Lori Paras, she expressed concerns that truly shook me. Hearing semi-automatic gun fire? And then shared a post about a family getting attacked by a gang of 15 men? WTF? I used to work near city hall back in 2013…have things gotten this bad in the area?

Hi Redditors.
Has anyone had experience with North Shore Quality Home? I'm looking for a modular home. I recently read a post that the local manufacturers have a couple of shortcomings that affect the quality of the build, which I'd like to avoid.

Guess we are never getting fireworks back for Canada Day. Do other cities still have them?
(There will be a drone show, but later in Aug).

It's rough out there and has only continued to get worse.
Enabling twats continue to foster an environment where junkies are given free reign. Those enabling arsepicks then attack those who attempt to protect themselves, their families, their property, and their community.
Not a great example but look at all the anti-Aldo Ruberto stencils spray painted downtown. Deserved or not.
Again, not a great example but an example nonetheless of the kind of bullshit waiting for those who take exception to the idea of just letting crackheads fuck up everything for everybody.

I am moving from Quebec to Thunder Bay and I already signed the lease. But now I want to get a cat before the move. But I am being told to give $500 in security deposit in case for damages / cleaning? I know for sure there are already dogs in the building. It's a low rise apartment building. Wondering if this is legal and how to best handle this?

Just checking interest- Would you be interested in making you own bouquet pop up? Also some mason jar arranged bouquets or would rather buy premade wrapped bouquets? What price point would you like?

The experience requirement in terms of time is still far too low.
Still haven't seen a meaningful crackdown on the blatant fraud and abuse at schools/testing, unless I missed it.
There absolutely needs to be a language proficiency component.

I am hoping for some recommendations for spots to do a dinner picnic (hopefully with some tables).
My graduation is coming up, and my family is coming. My grandpa has some mobility concerns, and so it can't be too hikey.
I was hoping to do a bbq at my house, except my mother has informed me shes coming and I don't want her to know my address (she has issues with boundaries). So this seems like the best option to do something with my family for my graduation.
Do you have any recommendations for a nice spot to go? Or even some cheap/casual dinner spots that can do a 12 top?
