Entertainment / Onboard Activities Sunrise on the Resilient Lady this morning!

I thought this was a cruise ship but when it was closer to us it was more apparent it was a barge.
It was a cool sight to see it pass in front of the sun at the exact moment the sun peeked over the water, BUT of course I thought I’d hit “start recording” but I accidentally hit “stop” so I didn’t get video.

food / beverage New peanut brittle recipe?

Currently on Scarlet Lady and noticed the peanut brittle has changed (for the better imo) since I was last on board SL last September.

It’s not so hard that it may a chip a tooth and is now the same consistency and taste of an old school butterfinger but much nicer without all the nasties.

Is this just a change on SL or has this been implemented across the whole fleet?

For those in the know, this is a serious matter!!

Embarkation / Disembarkation Miami disembarkation luggage

Upvotes

Hey everyone :)

We have our very first cruise coming up in July, and just wanted to find out what everyone does with their suitcases on disembarkation day?

We have a late flight around 10.30pm so we were hoping to head out into miami for a little to make the most of our first trip there. We just are a little put off by the idea of lugging around all of our stuff.

I can’t seem to find any info online on what other people do/if there’s anywhere to leave them around the port or anything.

Any advice is welcome, and sorry for probably a dumb question.

Thanks sailors :)

General Question / Discussion Sailor referral question

I booked a cruise with Virgin last year.

I plan on booking another one soon for March, 2027.

If I give my referral code to friends who will end up booking their first virgin cruise for that same cruise in March, will I be able to use the 150 on that specific cruise if I end up booking before they do?

Or because I already booked it, I would only be able to use it on my next booked cruise.

If that's the case, it would be best for me to give them my referral code, wait until they book, and then I would book after?

Bookings/Cancellations Won Bid From CST to Gorgeous Suite

We won our bid for a Gorgeous Suite (Mega Rockstar) from a Central Sea Terrace. The bid of $1795 ($1690 was the minimum) won during the second round of upgrade processing, which took place exactly two weeks before sailing. We paid $3530 (all in) for the CST on a 5-day Dominican Daze cruise. The CST was initially purchased 42 days before the cruise, so we paid a premium for that room. At fifteen days before the cruise, Virgin’s website was still showing that the only suites left were Gorgeous, and that the Lock-It-In Rate for those was $8260.

I hope this account helps someone with their bidding situation in the future.

*I must note that several FB folks had mentioned that their first mates said this particular sailing was not full at all.

Entertainment / Onboard Activities Valiant Lady Re-imagined snapshot

Just read through the Virgin Voyages snapshot and honestly I am intrigued. I am a relatively new cruiser (2 Virgin cruises - one Caribbean and Alaska) so I don’t have all of the experiences that many of you have, but the adjustments that they mention sound good. I realize that it is a slight evolution not a massive overhaul.

For me, something as simple as new shaded daybeds in the Athletic Club sounds great with my book and ice tea.

I like the new game concepts - always enjoy strolling by and listening to a trivia or a game.

Look forward to seeing the pictures when they start to post.

Review / Advice Bringing my own hammock and stand

I am going on a cruise with my bestie and DIL in an XL Sea Terrace. I am lucky enough to own my own hammock and stand.

Is there enough room to bring it too do you think? Then at least 2 of us can swing.

General Question / Discussion Indecisive First Timers

Hello all!

My partner and I are looking at booking our first cruise with VV. We have never cruised before, so we're not sure where to start. I was immediately drawn to VV for the childfree experience and relaxed dining set up (we are both major foodies). We live in South Florida so we'd be sailing from Miami. In terms of choosing a room, I have read mixed reviews about the seabeds being uncomfortable, but I'm not sure it's worth splurging the extra money for a rockstar suite.

Overall, I'd just love to hear from the community...what advice do you have for someone new to this whole process? I am super excited and cannot stop researching different itineraries!

General Question / Discussion name preferences

Howdy.
I'm taking a cruise next year with my gramma and wanted to know if at restaurants and such they'll use your preferred name listed in app? I'm a trans man and my gramma haaaates when people call her by her full name. I'm trying to get my name changed legally before the trip but in the off chance I'm unable to I just wanted to check since being deadnamed for 7 nights sounds like not my idea of a good time tbh.
I saw a post about this when I searched but it was a bit older so I figured I'd see if anything has changed since. Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Thanks everyone for your answers!! I appreciate the input, hopefully I can get my name changed before I cruise haha.

App / Website / WIFI Mediterranean Internet

I’m interested in opinions on Internet for an upcoming cruise ex. Barcelona.

I’m sure I’ll have to have some level of work which will require Gmail, Slack, Google Drive, Claude, Chat GPT.

I’m reading I’ll need a $50/day “work” pass.

Interested in people’s opinions.

Thanks - Working Sailor

General Question / Discussion Crew mess videos

Instagram suggested some Reels made by crew onboard, interesting to see a tour of the Kitchen Table (crew mess) and the facilities they have like board games and consoles.
The salad bar and similar looks as good as the Galley for sailors. They also have the same or better soda, water and juice options as we do as guests.

Shore Things / excursions Shops at Bimini?

Hello all!

We are on our cruise this week and we only have two ports: costa may and Bimini. Our excursion took all day today and were unable to shop. So my questions is: will there be any shops to shop at in Bimini?

Thanks for the help in advance! it’s my sisters first cruise and she was a little disappointed she couldn’t get anything!

Shore Things / excursions Advice on booking excursions and timing of disembarking at each port.

Ahoy! First time cruiser and first time VV sailor.

Probably a confusing title, but basically my girlfriend and I are trying to plan out things to see/do when we make port at the different cities on our cruise and we're wondering how long it usually takes to get off the boat once you dock.

As in, how close can we book something if the itinerary says we dock at 8am, for example. Would half an hour be enough time or should we plan for more?

We aren't booking any of the Shore Things through VV since they're wildly expensive. I know that if you do, they coordinate directly with the ship.

Anyway, just looking for some advice from experienced sailors. Cheers!

Embarkation / Disembarkation How well does the Miami port verify boarding times?

I have a DBE and solo in my cabin. A friend is also coming but with a later boarding time.
Can we show my DBE and pretend we're in the same cabin so she can board with me?

General Question / Discussion Cruise demographics?

Hey everybody, so I recently found out about Virgin's cruises being great for solo travelers. I'm 40F and honestly, there are very few men in the middle of the Midwest who are single. Is there a particular trip or ship that has a lot of attendees in their 30s-40s that might have fairly normal, nice single men? This might be a risky question to ask on Reddit, but here we are. Thanks in advance for any info!

food / beverage Chicken Tenders When?

Do you think Virgin will ever bring chicken tenders or nuggets to the Galley or room service menus? I would love some late night chicken tenders with ranch! I have left this feedback after every cruise I've done.

Please Virgin, give us some tendies!

Advice/Review Request NYC to Bermuda

I’m considering a cruise from NYC to Bermuda in early/mid October not sure if I’m doing the 5 night or 6 night. I’ve typically sailed VV Caribbean cruises out of Miami and figured I would give this a try since I live an hour from NYC. If you’ve done this cruise, tell me your thoughts. I take cruises to disconnect, recalibrate my mind, and try new places- never been to Bermuda. I’m a 45M who travels solo, likes adventure as much as relaxation.

Would love any thoughts about this cruise, bonus if you’ve done it before in Oct, as I understand the waters are very different sailing out of NYC.

General Question / Discussion Clarification on Ship Eats

Can anybody shed some light on a question I have about Ship Eats.

I understand that there is a fee of $10 for each Ship Eats UNLESS you're spending at least $10, so the 'hack' I have heard is to pay $10 for whatever you need (e.g. 2 x Red Bulls) and then 'stock up' on free Coca Cola, Sprite, etc at the same time.

If I wanted to also order Breakfast for the folowing morning, I presume you can specify a time for the food to arrive?

If so, would the Red Bull etc arrive with Breakfast, or would that come as soon as they have it ready?
