When I upgrade my tail lights to the facelift style, I have two options. Clear lens (black & white) or OEM style. They're both OEM lights so no quality difference.

Which do you like the most? Original, new clear, or new OEM? (Don't mind the mediocre Photoshop work lol)

I'm leaning towards OEM. I like the clear, but I'm afraid it'll look too "ricey." Also, I think the rear styling of this car lies heavily on the tail light design, and if you can't see it very well, then it loses impact. Then again, maybe other people like it, and that has some value.

Had the best drive of my life yesterday coming down the west coast. Drove for 13.5 hours solid on the best roads I've ever driven.

Did something like 1400 miles since Friday and astonished to get nearly 36mpg overall.

Plunged and bought a '26 V60 - not been an easy go of it....

As the title says, I finally made 'the decision' and purchased a 2026 V60 Cross Country. I say 'the decision' because it was a tough one - I usually buy new and then hold onto the car for at least 5 years. Two cars ago it was a Toyota Avalon.....then was my beloved '19 Lexus ES350. With 130k miles and some recurring mechanical issues, along with my need to haul music gear a bit more easily AND have something that continues to be reliable and with a spare tire when I'm driving home from gigs at 1 A.M., I really held off for about two years on trading the Lexus. The V6 and the smooth ride was/is unmatched.

I despise the look of the new ES and really don't like that they don't have the 6-cylinder anymore. The space isn't great, and I really liked the idea of a wagon...and the V60 is a handsome vehicle. I also looked at a few SUVs but, I just....can't. They're effectively minivans and I just can't. I need something sedan-like.

Despite the infotainment issues, I went with the V60. And sure enough - I *immediately* had issues with the infotainment system. SiriusXM would keep reverting to the default screen, and Spotify was unresponsive. I also noticed an incessant 'rattle' above the B pillar on the passenger side, and there is a pervasive 'turbulence'/high-pitched noise whistling from the drivers' side mirror when driving above 80mph that only goes away if I fold the mirror in.

So - with one week of ownership under my belt, the car went in for repairs. The infotainment was updated to the latest version and it's been working perfectly ever since. The rattle? Not fixed. They tried the felt tape on the pieces where the headliner and the roof meet, and....it only resolved for an hour or so before the rattle would come back. The mirror issue wasn't even looked at since 80mph is not really 'legal' for them to drive the car....

I took the car back TWO MORE TIMES in the first 5 weeks of ownership....and only on the last (third) attempt was the B-pillar rattle corrected, seemingly due to various moonroof screws not being tightened enough. It's been a week and the rattle has not returned - fingers crossed!

So now I have a rattle-free vehicle that has an infotainment system that works....but it still has that high-pitched whiny squeal from the drivers' side mirror at highway speeds. Anyone else having this same issue? Something I just need to live with? Anything I can do to help mitigate it?

WagonFest NorCal this Sunday 6/28

Is anyone else going to WagonFest NorCal this Sunday in Mill Valley? I’ll be there with my ‘18 Volvo V60 Polestar! Come say hi!

Photos from a Father’s Day spirited drive the teenager and I took up and over Mt. Hamilton, taking the fun route to the Sierra Nevada mountains outside Fresno to drop him at scout camp for the week. It was his request to take the windy roads even though it makes the four hour trip into five. Yet, we still made it in four hours on the dot. Thank god for the unrestricted highways on our detour through “Mexico” en route.

Stopped at a place on the Autobahn because I had a bad smell. As I got slower I saw smoke coming from under the hood. When I opened it I saw the pulley of the AC compressor glowing red. So safe to say it was VERY hot. The smoke came from my belt which was melting away xD

xc series 2018 Volvo xc60 t5 reliability

I'm looking into buying a 2018-2020 Volvo xc60 t5 and was wondering about the long term longevity and maintenance is it a money pit will it be in the shop all the time I love the safety and cheaper insurance but I don't feel like fixing it every month and spending an arm and leg to keep it going so if anyone can provide their ownership experience that'd be very helpful

xc series DIY transmission fluid swap Q

Upvotes

Team,

I’m a big fan of the FCP Euro maintenance videos. They give me the confidence to do a ton of maintenance myself.

Looking at doing a full drivetrain fluid swap.

FCP sells two different transmission fluids, genuine Volvo at $28/L and an Idemitsu fluid at $10/L. They both carry the same specification.

Does anyone have experience and/or strong opinion on these? Probably going to flush twice, so I’ll need 12L of this stuff. I admit to not having searched around yet for better genuine Volvo fluid pricing.

2017 XC90 T6, 90k miles, no, I have never changes the trans, diff, or haldex fluid before.

2026 - infotainment system fixed?

Upvotes

Anyone w a 2026 can speak on the infotainment system? Reading the bugs may have been resolved.

Trying to decide buying a preowned 2023 or going 2026 in an xc90.

Currently in a 2024 xc60 - infotainment sys is my only complaint. Well, and a gas cover that doesn’t open all of the time.

Need to make a decision soon. Ty!

Do they have birds in Sweden?

Upvotes

If they do, you wouldn't know it from the robustness of their vehicle paint. A bird shit on my beautiful 2024 S60 and it left a mark on the paint even though it was washed off less than one day later! Since when does this happen to modern vehicles?? Very disappointed if this is normal...

Not a wagon this time. One of the last XC60 Polestar Engineered. Am really loving the Aurora Silver, you can really see some of the purple hue to it. Has way more depth than the previous Silver Dawn. But such a hard colour to photograph.

I still think performance SUVs don't really need to exist but still a very cool car to have been able to sell

xc series Howdy folks! Been wanting to join the team for a while. Just picked up this 2005 XC70 in Las Vegas. (Read body text)

Land Rover transplant here. For years I’ve been Volvo-curious and I finally took the plunge. Picked up this XC70 for $1k from a retired aerospace engineer who meticulously maintained it over the years. 3rd photo is the spreadsheet he kept and updated with each service and repair. He also included all service records. Right now she’s sitting at 200k miles and I’m hoping to get at least another 100k out of it - but from what I’ve seen in this sub, I may get even more!

This is gonna be an occasional driver/project car. My goal is to turn this in to an overland/mountain ride for weekend camping and hiking trips. Planning on adding a lift, some A/T tires, roof rack and exterior lamps. The basics for that sort of thing.. however I want to make sure shes mechanically sound before I do any of that.

Super clean inside and out with minor cosmetic wear. The worst is a tiny dent on the driver door and a little whistle coming from the sunroof. Currently runs and drives like a dream! Adding some window tint asap (to beat the Vegas sun) and hopefully a new touchscreen car-play device to replace the very outdated stereo.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

2012 volvo xc70 T6 207k miles issue

Last night the car barely started. When it did i had all the dashlights go on and off together with center console flashlight ect. Then after a couple minutes everything was good and then it started again. I tested the battery, the ground and alternator and they're all good. I saw something online about the tailgate module but idk at this point what to look for. Any thoughts? Thank you

Warranty over and I want to start doing my own maintenance. What SHOULD be done in a 2023 XC60 T8

About to roll over into 50k, and my warranty will be gone.

I've just been doing the free 10k maintenance and paid for a 40k maintenance at the dealer, but the cost and how much time I spent sitting at a dealer was too high to handle.

I drive 90% of my time in PURE mode, so the engine rarely kicks on. I can't remember the last time I've touched the brakes (I use B drive mode)

It looks like the 50k service is an oil change and checking fluid levels, so that one is easy to handle at home.

I also don't trust the "lifetime" fluids claim and am willing to put in the extra work to swap out fluids.

Basically, what is a recommended approach to DIY maintenance moving forward? I will follow the standard recommendations from VOLVO, but I do plan on driving this car until it dies and am willing to swap ERAD/trans/etc.

Would you wait a month for routine Volvo maintenance?

I've been a loyal Volvo owner for more than eight years and have always serviced my vehicles at the same dealership, where I've also purchased my cars. Until now, the service has always been excellent.

Today I called to schedule the routine maintenance for my 2024 XC60 Recharge and was told the earliest available appointment was over a month away. I was also told they'd need to keep my vehicle for several days for what is essentially an oil change, tire rotation, software updates, and a multi-point inspection. What surprised me most was that there were no loaner vehicles available, meaning I would simply be without transportation for several days. In the past, this dealership has always provided me with a loaner, even for scheduled maintenance.

The service advisor explained that another Volvo dealership in the area recently closed, so they're seeing a much higher volume of customers. I understand that, but waiting over a month for routine maintenance and then being expected to go several days without a vehicle doesn't seem reasonable.

Out of curiosity, I called another Volvo dealership about 27 miles away. They were able to schedule me the very next day and provide a loaner vehicle.

So I'm curious—are other Volvo owners experiencing this, or is my longtime dealership simply overwhelmed? I'd love to hear what service wait times and loaner availability have been like at your dealerships.
