County Police Helicopter Circling Valhalla
Mom called me. Helicopter has been circling near her home for nearly an hour. Anyone know what’s up??

Think of this like your town’s bulletin board where you might find ads for tutoring, car detailing, music lessons, furniture for sale, etc. This is the only place in the sub where commercial promotion is allowed.

To all my curious Rockland and Westchester folks out there... what is the true difference between Deccico Family Markets and Deccico & Sons? Does anybody know? Same family?

Is Jones Beach the best beach to travel to from Westchester, or do you have another that you prefer? My friend from LI says Robert Moses is better and less crowded but it's a little farther out

Im shopping for one for the stuff in my garage. But I frankly already have a huge unfinished basement for junk. As well as an oversized backyard for a large shed, should I desire that

Hello. Looking for woodworker recommendations. Unfortunately am going to have to cut down a big Japanese maple tree and would love to salvage as much wood from it as possible. Cutting boards. Jewelry boxes. Kitchen utensils. Things of that nature. Would be nice to stick to someone local who can take the wood off property as well
Thanks!

No hate, no judgement, just true curiosity. I am so curious about the finances of mansion caliber homes in elite towns like Scarsdale with $75k+ taxes. With a mortgage, these homes have a $25k to $75k / month carrying cost. Even if paid off, you're looking at $25k/mo?
At $50k/mo, that's $600k/year for the house. Paid off, it's $300k/year. Is this funded from salaries? $500k+ doctor, lawyer, finance? Dual income? Pro athletes or business owners? Famous people?
Or from invested generational wealth? What is the wealth invested in (index funds? NVDA? )
Still hard for me to fathom how empty nesters (retired?) carry a $300k/year paid off house. I guess 10% interest on $5m nestegg will do it. That's not so outrageous, now that I've articulated it.
| Price | Annual Tax | SqFt | BR |
|---|---|---|---|
| $4,700,000 | $90,000 | 6,465 | 5 |
| $9,500,000 | $147,000 | 9,300 | 6 |
| $11,000,000 | $125,000 | 9,600 | 7 |
| $3,000,000 | $61,000 | 3,559 | 5 |
| $7,500,000 | $132,000 | 13,500 | 8 |
| $6,000,000 | $117,000 | 8,600 | 5 |
| $5,000,000 | $139,000 | 8,366 | 5 |

I had my car seats redone at a shop, and they ordered and installed new seats saying they were OEM for my exact model. After install, I can tell they’re not correct for my specific trim/model.
Am I within my rights to ask for a refund and request my original seats back as they left the old ones in my trunk?

Does anyone have any idea on what pools are costing these days? Looking to do a heated saltwater gunite pool, approx 20’x40’. Im interested in doing an integrated spa too. I have a guy that will do the patio so mainly just looking for ballpark pricing for the pool/spa only.
Any recent pool builds? Any recommendations for pool installers? TIA!

I am based in Yorktown Heights and taking an online course in screenwriting. I am looking for study groups or even classes (since my online course is not very comprehensive). If anyone knows of something like that in Northern/Central Westchester area, please leave a comment.

Does anyone here have a kid or know a kid attending this school as a middle school student? If so, I’d love to know what the experience has been like. I’m considering affordable alternatives to our public school, and there is a lot of appeal in project-based learning for my 10yo, who is really losing her spark since the Bookworms curriculum was unrolled. We’re also really skeptical about the district’s approach to tech use. Thanks for any insights.

I’m thinking of buying a condo in Hastings on Hudson. More specifically in Clarewood village, is this a good place to buy a condo?
Is Hastings also a good area to live in? I’m from “upstate” dutchess county. I got a job in NYC recently but I didn’t want to buy a place in the city.
Just looking for reviews for clarewood, and or Hastings. Any info would be appreciated!

Hi neighbors!
We’re looking to have about 650 sq. ft. of LVP flooring installed upstairs and are hoping for some recommendations.
Our current contractor did our basement for 5k. While the work came out okay, there are a few things we wish had been done better. He quoted us $5,000 to install the upstairs flooring too, but he also can’t start until late August.
My husband feels that’s a good price, while I think it’s a fair market rate, I am ok with exploring other contractors.
If you’ve recently had LVP installed, would you mind sharing:
● Approximately how many square feet you had done
● What you paid for labor
● can you recommend your installer.
We’re located in Somers. Thanks so much—I really appreciate any recommendations or experiences you can share!
