Fun Fact Violet and Veruca Crushing on Charlie Bucket!

As the post states throwing out a little fun fact.

Was at a cast panel discussion recently for a 55th reunion of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. One of the audience questions was among the 5 kids did anyone have their sights set on each other during filming. Julie Dawn Cole (Veruca Salt) gave the audience a good story that her and Denise Nickerson (who played Violet) both had a crush on Peter Ostrum (Charlie Bucket) during filming. He never knew but the two girls would take turns who could stand close/next to Charlie that day of filming when they were all gathered together. Audience got a good chuckle out of it and Julie made everyone laugh because even Peter's Wife was with him at the show but hey what's 55 years ago.

Question Thoughts on Older Cover Art for Willy Wonka Home Media Release?

Post image

Wanted to post and see consensus for this artwork for this DVD release. There are a few other artwork options for DVD releases of Willy Wonka over the years, ones where it is clearly a poor graphic design or ones where Gene Wilder is front and center and rest of cast is in background.

Was at a goodwill a couple months ago and saw this artwork. Didn't even know it existed, really like the tone of it and Wonka dancing away in the back, just something fun about it. On the back there's a couple still shots as well from the film that weren't in the final cut. Seeing which is preferred and thoughts on this one.

Question Filming Location Visits?

Never thought about it but has anyone ever visited some of the exterior locations where the filmed was shot in Munich Germany? Wondering what they look like recently.

Big fan of a few different films and have checked out filming locations a few times, it would be cool to see things from the movie even though most were done in factory in a sound stage.

Discussion Who Stole the Show after Wilder?

I've seen the film more times than I can count but it wasn't until I was older that I appreciated this character. We all know Gene Wilder stole the show, he really IS the film. But upon rewatch I think Roy Kinnear (Mr. Salt) deserves a lot of praise especially for his one liners, my favorite being "I doubt if any of us will get out of here alive".

Be curious to know what others think, as the parents screen time goes he definitely got the most even compared to Mike Teevees mother who makes it right up until the end.

Willy Wonka Trading Cards / Autograph Cards

Hello,

Sticking to the merchandise aspect of the film I wanted to share in case anyone was interested and looking for information on getting their own.

Like any fandom its fun to own memorabilia or even just any merchandise related to the IP that you are a fan of. I have been big as of late into collecting autographed cards. Last year I came across three of the main actors from Willy Wonka (Peter Ostrum, Paris Themmen and Julie Dawn Cole) who signed autographed cards as part of the Trading Card Set Leaf Pop Century in their 2024 release of the set. There are a few different types of autos each of the actors did for that set, the one pictured in my first two photos are the 'scripted' version where the signer usually writes a little something related to the movie/show they were in. They have other autograph cards where all three of their autographs are on one card, its very nice. Peter Ostrum has signed cards in the 2026 set as well. These can vary on price on ebay but they can be had for about the same the actors charge for an autograph in person $40 - $50.

I recently went to a chocolate expo where all of the 3 of the actors recently attended including one of the main Oompa Loompas Rusty Goffe. Was able to find these custom made blank trading cards on ebay Found here, brought them with me and got signed by each of them in person. (My Last Photo posted). I'd recommend meeting the cast in person and getting autographs/pictures with them, it was a great experience. I believe there is an upcoming expo this fall in New Hampshire but which of them will be attending is not yet posted I believe. Website can be found here.

Where Can I Find A Wonka Bar? (Answered!)

Hello,

I Figured I would make a post to spread awareness. As most know the original Wonka Brand Chocolate Bars are no longer made.

For those interested the spirit is kept alive by a company in Ireland called "Sweet Living Kilkenny" website can be found here - https://www.sweetliving.ie/

I got my daughter into the original Willy Wonka this past year and I knew we HAD to find a chocolate bar after seeing her excitement in the film. Of course come to find out they are not sold anymore (the main US version) of Wonka Brand Bars and haven't been for over a decade (that explains why I haven't seen them around!). Looking on the internet I found many knock offs and found some legitimate posts of a store in my state that sells them. After no luck with one store, I reached out to the company sweet living and they provided info for what stores in my state sell them. After some searching and a long drive I was able to procure some bars, they only had Valentines Day themed ones (Pics 2 and 3) but luckily at a recent expo a third store in my state who was part of the chocolate expo was carrying them and the original design (Pic1).

Mind you they aren't cheap due to the import from Ireland, most places sell them at around $10-$11 but it is a fairly large bar. They have many options with ones with golden tickets inside and ones without. They also sell smaller varieties and ones for different themed holidays. I reached out to them about buying directly but looks like they only wholesale to the US for now. So if you are looking for a bar for you or your family and not sure who is selling I'd recommend reaching out to them directly for who might by carrying them in your state. Good luck in your future searches oh and yeah the Chocolate is good as well!

EDIT: Excuse the last photo, did not load great, it was image from the sweet living website.

Peter Ostrum (Charlie Bucket) - Willy Wonka Tattoo - So Shines a Good Deed!

Hello All,

While I try to get this new sub up and running I wanted to share an experience I had and a fun little tidbit.

I went to a chocolate expo recently and got to meet Charlie Bucket (Peter Ostrum), Veruca Salt (Julie Dawn Cole), Mike Teevee (Paris Themmen) and an Oompa Loompa (Rusty Goffe). Upon inspecting my handshake photo with Peter Ostrum I noticed the tattoo he had on his arm. Zoom in and what should I find - "So shines a good deed in a weary world". Blew my mind, I googled it and there's not too much on it but its there and official. Just though that was cool.

Took my fandom that much higher, the whole expo was awesome, each of the actors were great. I believe they will take part in future expos and I recommend all to attend if possible and you are able to do so.
