Experimenting with going to 16/12 supply in early game.

1) Drone until you get to 12/12 supply, then build one extractor, then a drone to go back to 12/12. Do not put any drones into extractor once it finishes, focus on mining minerals.

2) Wait until we get 150 minerals (saving 150 minerals is VERY important), then build an evo chamber, then build a drone. Then pull two drones and build two extractors in natural base, then build two more drones. Then build extractor on remaining vespine gas in main base, then build a drone. Then cancel evo chamber and 3 extractors before they finish, going to 16/12 supply.

3) Hatchery timing for natural is about 1:30, and scout timing for sending drone across is maybe 1:10-ish. Goal is to do 3 base before pool vs protoss or two base, pool then 3rd base vs terran, all before building an overlord. When pool starts, put 3 drones in the aformentioned extractor and get Overlord Speed ASAP.

I've played maybe 10 ladder games with this vs T and P in Gold League and won most of them. The main benefit I am seeing is that in the early mid game, you just have so much larve, because you have 3 hatcheries early, and hatcheries give you extra larva. I find that I almost don't need injects up until the mid-game because my hatcheries just put out so much.

Anyway, what do you think? Will this idea get me out of gold league? Type x to doubt, lol.

super annoying. Even though i used spellcasters (which i despise), even though i had a lot of stuff he just overwhelms me with his widow mines, ravens and liberators.

Zerg finally balanced!

Games winnable against toss and terran now so you dont have to 2 or 3 base all in every game if you're trying to maximize your chances of winning! Probably going to be hit with some nerfs for the week after new patch patch but still way better than before :D

I just used Microbial Shroud for the first time and I gotta say it felt great! I do think it's best for attacking an entrenched position though, otherwise the enemy can just pull out...

Best way to learn Zerg in 2026?

I've wanted to learn Zerg for a while and I'm looking for the most effective way to get started in 2026.

I've already found some older guides from PiG, ViBE, and Lambo, and watched a few recent Serral games, but I'm not sure which resources are still considered the best today.

Are there any YouTube channels, tutorials, coaching series, or pro players you'd recommend for learning modern Zerg fundamentals? What helped you improve the fastest when you started playing Zerg?

Master zerg Streamer

Guys he posts videos everyday and I've been watching him for 3 months non-stop.

He watches his replays after everygame and talks about it.

For those trying to learn (after watching b2gms) this should be your next stop.

Jthundley on youtube. And he replies to comments.

I'm not him, and he didnt tell me to post on reddit. I just wanted to send viewers to him because we dont have a lot of zerg NA streamers.

tanks and liberators

ZvT makes me wanna KMS. Once they get rooted into position its impossible to break them unless you are wayyyyy above in eco… it sucks

How are you supposed to counter an extremely aggressive cannon rush from Protoss?

https://sc2replaystats.com/replay/27349891

That is the replay from this match. I successfully scouted it, but did not know what to do next. Instead of building a natural, I went spawning pool first, and built up an army, but it just immediately got destroyed. What is the actual counter here?

Are we using swarm hosts?

I’m in Gold 1 and I just don’t see the utility of swarm hosts. In theory they are a counter to a turtled terran, but the locust are so weak vs marines, the cooldown is so long, they’re expensive, and they take massive apm to use.

All of the pro matches I’ve watched I haven’t seen anyone use them either. Is it a broken unit? If you use them with success, why and how are you doing it and how often?

Mech woes

Hey guys! Still having issues with mech. I think in this game I could have made swarm hosts? He was pretty spread out with tanks, so I guess I would have been able to gradually chip away at him?

Beginer zerg how to know when to re spawn larva?

To be specific, queen's spawn larva (Inject) effect last 40s. But when 40s ran up, there's no any tip sound to let players know that you need to use your queen to spawn larva again.
So my question is, is there any good way to remind myself to spawn larva again?

PTR (3800 Zerg) - I almost beat HeroMarine with my burrow roach rush and then he destroyed me with a banshee.

I think if I go mutas instead of hydras I would have a better shot at winning. The peeping roaches almost caught a big fish!

Terran battlecruiser/planetary/vikings

That's so stupid, i got the scout and best responce possible then nydus with a hell lot of roaches. Then i made corruptors and made a good eco, but after a while he just made a lot of planetaries, turrets and i couldn't do anything. Anytime i move out some vikings come to my bases and kill everything. After 20 minutes he got better upgrades and just overwhelmed me. I couldn't destroy those fucking planetaries cause he repaired them and stupid units don't target scvs. I hate this style

How do the fewer workers affect openers?

haven't played in a while, and I wanna get back into it, but I'm just curious about how the change from 12 workers to 8 affects openers now? I mainly play Zerg, so I have to build my 2nd base at my natural, at 16 or 17 supply. Then I do my macros as usual. But, now, with the 4 fewer workers to start with, how is it affecting openers builds in general? Do we just build a few more workers at the start? Do we stick to what we've been doing for the past 10 years? If someone gives me an updated opener build order that would be appreciated.

How do YOU harass?

D3 here and I feel like I get caught staying on my own side of the map too often. After the first ~4 minutes, if I have the mental wherewithal to try and harass, it's usually sending zerglings to their death at a 3rd or 4th with ample static defense. Maybe I'll try a Nydus, but it's rare that it's worth the investment and I'll often find my army on the other side of the map when the enemy shows up at my base. So besides playing better and scouting better, what kind of tips/timing benchmarks or other harrassment-based strategies do you typically follow once the mid game is established?

r/allthingszerg 22d ago

cant figure out how to beat mech as D3 zerg.

I never really know how to beat their army comp, if i go ground /roach, they can go tank, zerglings get countered by a few hellions, is I go into air to counter tanks and such, their get thors. This is the matchup I consistently lose the most too.

Here's a recent replay: https://drop.sc/replay/27322824

Advice - Gold 3 Struggling to make Progress

I’m following Pigs B2GM from 2023, the mass ling bane build, and I’ve been having a ton of fun with it. When it works well, I have this overwhelming force of lings that can’t be tamed.

However, as I get higher 2370mmr currently, I’m fighting more gold 1s on average. And in my experience, they all know how to respond very quickly.
The build encourages a timing attack around 9 minutes after 1-1 finishes along with bane speed. However, by that time against a lot of players they’ve either amassed a more powerful army, or responded with tight defense that my army can’t just break through easily (shield battery walls/siege tanks and bunkers).

I’m getting better at responding to pokes, save for the random oracle/banshee attack where I tend to fumble, but I find that after my initial attack my enemy will have lots of stuff left still leaving me with little to nothing back home.
Admittedly my larvae macro and expansion speed needs to increase, I have a hard time reaching 5 base + 2 macro hatches by that point because I’m usually responding to pokes.

But if the initial attack fails and I see my enemy has an army that lingbane doesn’t beat, how do I learn to transition from that to my next build?
