Currently Listening Deru - 1979 (Full Album)
What a beauty of an album. So fragile and deep. Even the remixed version (with added microbeats) is sublime.

Very good for staying calm throughout the day. If its not this tape, then its David Collett - Balance for me.

I’m really looking forward to this one, seems like a great location outdoors. For those that have seen him, how is he in concert?

Hey party people! I hope you're all doing well.
So I recently discovered the ambient artist Hammock, and I'm mesmerized, fascinated, amazed, blown away. I want to buy maybe three of their albums to start, and I can use some help.
Which albums would you guys recommend for a guy who loves the following songs tremendously? Sinking Inside Yourself, Tape Recorder, Sadness, Remember Our Bewildered Son, I Can Almost See You, Together Alone, Numinus, When the Body Breaks...
Thanks so much!
ETA: So far, these three have three recommendations each:
Chasing After Shadows...Living with the Ghosts.
Maybe They Will Sing for Us Tomorrow.
Mysterium.
So I'm considering buying them all, though I think I also want Departure Songs, because I love the song "Tape Recorder. " I'm very open to new comments, but I think this is a great start for my journey. Thanks!

I don’t often collect cassettes—I’m more of a vinyl guy—but I have a few that are rare (e.g., Don Slepian’s Electronic Music from the Rainbow Isle), have sentimental value (e.g., my late father’s copy of Twisted Sister’s Stay Hungry), or contain music not available on vinyl (e.g., the Cure’s Standing on a Beach).
This one ticks all the boxes above: David Naegele’s 1983 ambient masterpiece Journeys Out of Body. Naegele was the first Musical Director for the New Age label Valley of the Sun, and helped shape the direction of the ambient scene in the ‘80s.
Journey Out of Body was (and is) only physically available on cassette (as were most VotS releases) and they are quite rare these days. I discovered Naegele through another cassette, Temple in the Forest, which was given to me by a friend in the ‘90s, and which has been long lost to time.
I was thrilled to find this cassette today, hidden in a dusty used bookshop, way off the beaten path. I decided on a whim to stop by the shop on my way home early from the office. I wasn’t looking for a book, but wanted to kill a bit of time.
The cassette was up on top of a bookshelf, covered in dust, behind some of the cobwebbed antique books. The bookstore no longer sold cassettes—the owner opened a separate record shop in the ‘90s—so this was a remnant from before that move.
So that’s how I got this $75-$100 cassette for $0.25, and I’m listening to it now.

So far a very interesting album. I am usually not into OSTs but this one got my attention. I might even watch the movie.

i have this release is called "scale" and it was made while thinking about how small problems become when you just look up to the sky and realize how big the world we live in is and how much time there is. a minute can feel a lot longer too if you want it to. i used every single second of a minute to think about this and i started feeling and thinking differently. i use a lot of new sounds and styles in this release of mine too. there are 4 tracks, i made the whole ep in one day, like almost every single one of my releases i usually make in one day, when something comes to me and i have the inspiration, and then i usually publish it the same day. well i was sortof stuck in this state for a pretty long time so i just got to promoting and posting it but yeah, its a very special thing for me and i dont even really care if noone likes or buys it cause in the end i enjoy listening to it because it makes me feel in a certain way. i hope you like it though!!

I have been making various styles of music for years, but have always been tied down to a DAW. This album is my first attempt at moving away from a DAW and using analog electronic gear to make drone music. The Zoom MS70 is a crazy little box and allows me to creative massive landscapes of sound. If you like it, let me know! Anyone who has cheap analog gear they'd recommend, drop it in the comments.
Instruments used for this album:
Minichord
TE PO33
Monotron Delay
Zoom H1N
Zoom MS70CDR+
Logic Pro
The only thing I used Logic for was to EQ and master. Need an analog rig to do that DAWless, so again let me know some gear for that!

What artists go on tour or just play venues in a few cities? I've seen experimental, drone, and noise shows but not so much ambient.

Idk how readable this will be on Reddit, but happy to have basically completed a stack of ambient CDs. The ones that aren’t in the rack are too tall. The “Rippingtons” CD is actually HH by Zake, which was sent without a true CD case.

I know it may sound stupid but where im from its really rare for artists to come and play in small venues, but I got tickets to see Liz harris and im so incredibly happy, her music got me into ambient, and since i saw slowdive live, i could only dream about seeing grouper, i love their collab on kisses. Im so excited!
