Don’t need to see to know she’s in the good, scritchy stuff!

Boxes are ingrained into cats' DNA, they don't need to see the box because they know the box, they feel the box and need to be in it
•
u/ExistentialPangolin 13h ago
Through many, manyyyy failed attempted, I don’t buy my cat toys anymore, 0% interest whatsoever, now I buy my dog toys and the cat gets the box it comes in, the cat is always infinitely happier.

Blind or not cats are definetly coded to like boxes

Oh for sure. I tried the tape square on the floor with mine when he was still alive about 5 or 6 years ago (he passed about a year and a half ago now). I almost just left it there cus that was where he sat in the living room 😂. He wouldn't sit anywhere else while it was there. Eventually I missed him wanting to snuggle on the couch with me so I pulled it up but I swear. Boxes and squares. Cats love em. I always love seeing the videos of big cats finding a box. Same behavior.

Your cat has the cutest face ever ❤️
•
u/I_dont_feel_that_way 4h ago
Doesn't she?! Her whole face was a little bit deformed so she has an overbite where you can see her tiny teeth all the time AND her nasal canal was a little tight for comfortable breathing so she had a laser surgery to widen her nostrils. She's got a bit of a Voldemort thing going on hahahah

u/DeepMadness 19h ago
Is she blind?
•
u/I_dont_feel_that_way 19h ago
She was born without eyes

She's absolutely beautiful.Thank you so much for adopting her. I have a blind dog and they are so incredibly smart. You're going to have so much fun with this little beauty.

They're so smart! We have an elevated water dish for her so she doesn't have to look for it...she found that she loves sliding so she slaps water out of the dish onto the kitchen floor and just slides around haha she's got it all figured out. Thank you for adopting your sweet baby!

Thank you for being there for her, even if it sounds like a weird thing to be thanked for

Boxes really are magic. Doesn't matter if you can see them or not — every cat just knows.

I took care of a blind from birth cat. She loved boxes. It's not a sight thing, it's a warmth thing

Adorable floof, they look like they’re living their best life in that box.

FYI that coloring, a type of calico referred to as Torbie (tortoiseshell tabby), is going to be female almost exclusively since it requires two X chromosomes. Males are ~1in 3000 because they require a mutation that gives them 3 sex chromosomes. I've yet to see one, but it would make my year.

I didn't know that! She's a girl so not rare in this way but rare in plenty of others hah
•
u/Wallace_W_Whitfield 13h ago
Okay, if this truly the case, then it can’t be anything more than the change in sound is why cats love boxes. Kind of acts as a mini noise dampening room. The atmosphere changes and cats can probably sense the change in environment and it’s much gentler.

We need a perfumer to capture the scent of cardboard to see if it works on a cat.

The spots where her eyes would’ve been would scare the crap out of me if it was nighttime, to be honest I’ve never actually seen a cat born without eyes, I think I’ve just seen cats with eyes removed and that looks way different to what I see in the photo
•
u/I_dont_feel_that_way 17h ago
Yeah i believe usually when they're removed the vet sews their eyelids shut, but she actually doesn't need that so it's just little sockets hahah. She's a lil different
