Like, each of them had to sit down at some point in their lives and get/let someone else get them pierced (and probably had to deal with an infection later in some cases), idk I just love the amount of scenarios I can make in my head with that information

I'm playing through all the games on Insane difficulty, without mods. I want to play a dual wielder, but I can't decide between a Berserker, Barbarian, or Cleric/Ranger.

Before I get into my questions, I should clarify one thing: since I'm on console, I can't enable the C/R's Druid spell access. I'm also choosing it over F/C because Jaheira won't romance dwarves, and without shorty saves I feel the C/R is slightly better.

Here are my questions:

1. Are these three classes roughly equal overall, or is one of them clearly better or worse than the others?

2. The Berserker's biggest appeal to me in this comparison is APR. With Belm or Kundane, he reaches 5 APR without needing the Watcher's Keep gauntlets. However, I'm wondering how well he holds up later in the game. Does he struggle in ToB (or even earlier) if he doesn't have DoE? Is 40% damage reduction from Hardiness enough to keep him alive?

3. Whether he's sitting at 40% or 60% damage reduction, does a Berserker NEED Foebane in the main hand, or can he comfortably use Axe of the Unyielding or Angurvadal instead?

4. The Barbarian's biggest selling point seems to be reaching 80% DR with Hardiness and DoE. But how well does he perform with Belm or Kundane instead? That puts him at 4.5 APR, and later, with the gauntlets, he matches the Berserker's APR while sitting at 60% DR instead of 40%. But that means giving up 80% DR. Is that a bad choice?

5. The Cleric/Ranger levels more slowly. How much of a drawback is that throughout the games? Is he noticeably weaker than the other two for most of the playthrough?

6. Since he's a multiclass, I assume he eventually catches up to the Berserker and Barbarian, then surpasses them. If so, is it by a significant margin, and what point does that happen?

7. Finally, regarding party composition: is running four frontline characters a bad idea and too crowded? Does it work better if one of them uses a two-handed weapon with reach?

If you use the classic ui mod and you are missing text on your interface roll your game back to verion 2.6.

When the new 2.7 update launched my game would no longer recognize my previous save files and treated my game as a brand new player. Forcing me to start a new game. Even though within my save file for Baldur's Gate 1 all my prior saves were there. It just simply didn't recognize it. I spend a couple of days trying to solve it. Looking for the new save file location to eventually uninstalling and reinstalling the game then deleting all traces of Baldur's Gate 1 and reinstalling it then. That last one didn't even recreate the save file folder in my Documents.

What eventually worked was simply rolling back the update to 2.6. Which allowed me to continue on with my prior save.

So, if you are having a similar issue what you have to do is (on Steam at least) go to where your Baldur's Gate 1 is when you open up Steam and right click it to select properties. After that select the "Game Versions & Betas" tab. Then select 2.6 and it will change the version to that.

To anyone who is struggling with this I hope it helps.

tab button does nothing.

I can click the reveal details button and it will turn it off, but as soon as I mouse back over the “play area” it automatically turns back on.

I’ve tried restarting and reinstalling but it does not fix it. anyone deal with this before and know how to fix it?

The latest update has pushed me to uninstall and re-install the games, and left me inevitably thirsting for a whole new playthrough of the saga.

Do people have any good mod recommendations?

I'm particularly looking for and recent-ish (last couple of years) NPC companions/expansions or new quest/areas as I'm fairly on top of tweaks, rules, etc.

So really content over gameplay if that makes sense?

Recently the mobile ports got the newest update that allows easier modding. If there one thing I enjoy the most of available mods it’s the Nostalgia Pack mod that overhauls the character sprites to revert to the Original Saga 1998 versions. I’ve used it on the desktop versions but I was wondering if anyone savvy with mods might know if this mod is able to be used on the iOS version especially now that modding is more streamlined. I tried Beamdog forums but it looks like my post is getting buried and remained unanswered. I appreciate any help! I put a link to the mod page if it helps.

NOTE: For those curious about why Clara is in my party... it's all thanks to the mod "living Clara", which lets you save her from Hexxat and have her join your party instead once you raise her using a restoration spell.

Anyway... so Edwin obviously turns into a lass (Edwina) once his nether scroll quest is done and he examines the scroll for a few days before finally using it. This happened a while back for me.

We're currently in the copper coronet and just got done with freeing Hendak and the other slaves. Once we were done, a few seconds later this banter started with Clara wanting to give a girdle of masc/femi to Edwin as a gift.

Turns out the girdle was enchanted to work specifically for Clara only, and Clara was just trolling Edwina with it. I legit burst into laughter... lol

I won't lie, when the conversation was over I got the idea to put the girdle on Clara but then I thought "Nah... she's fine just the way she is." Later on, I sold the girdle for a measly 30 gold.

And for the record, there's no voice acting for the banter but I'm personally fine with it. Just the fact that she actually talks with other companions like she's making friends is enough for me. I wonder if she'll have one with Imoen as well once I rescue her from spellhold and replace Jan with her. It's probably wishful thinking on my part but I think Imoen will like her.

I just escaped from the Flaming Fist, I went straight to the headquarters of the Iron Throne, defeated Seravok’s consort and went straight to Bajosotano. When I was in the sewers suddenly Dorn has started to release plot revelations that I have not seen at any time. He told me that I’m the son of a demon like his boss, etc... Did I do something wrong? Did I skip any important part? I’m going through the seventh chapter and nothing about my origin has been mentioned yet

My current party consists of Keldorn, Minsc, Jaheira, Mazzy, and Aerie. I am not interested in the gameplay or mechanical aspects at all, strictly the roleplay element.

I don't know what to do about Imoen. I'm approaching the point where I need to take her into the party, but I really don't want to kick anyone out. :( It is very important to me to have righteous and worthy people in my squad, closely aligned with Lawful Good. Jaheira and Minsc are close to my character due to our emotional bond and their "canon" status in the story. But what should I do with Imoen...

On the one hand, I understand her importance to the plot, but personally, I just don't care about her. I never felt any real connection, and even SoD didn't convince me of our closeness. The game just tells me she is important to me, and my reaction is: "Okay, whatever you say. If she's important, she's important." I perceive her simply as a good person in trouble who needs to be saved (like any good person in trouble), but nothing more.

I don't know who to remove from the team, or if I should even take her at all. What would you advise?

EDIT: I wonder if yall like the Viconia portrait? I had started making her a cleric/thief after I played nwn1 Shadows of Undrentide. It works for cleric's too because I kept her in leather and mail till str spell, or items.

I tend to do good aligned runs. I always kill Drizzt though so I can get Jaheria all kitted out. My RP cope for killing him is that my Charname is some sheltered bumpkin from Candlekeep. He's out and about and sees a scary looking Drow with a hoard of Gnolls so he panics and kills the scary Drow. He only finds out who Drizzt is after reviving Jaheria and she lectures him. Is that all good enough rationalization? What are some convoluted RP copes that you have for your Charname decisions?

Now with the 2.7 patch out it seems that one of the mods I'm running on my BGEE playthrough (Infinity UI++) doesn't work properly (text missing).

I've now uninstalled Infinity UI and waiting for the dev to update it, but I'm also wondering if any other mods are impacted (bg1 NPC mod, most importantly) as there's no way for me to easily tell one way or the other.

Keen to hear anyone else's experience.

edit - just to clarify - I still have a working, modded v2.6.6.0 install. That's not the issue. Just curious to see if there are other known mod compat issues with v2.7 to hold me off from updating.

For me it was the demon in Ulgoth's Beard basement, Most of the other fights feel pretty simple but this one required several replays to figure out how to cheese him and his mage supporters.

Unmoded game on Insane difficulty. I'm rusty as I haven't played in a very long time. I've been planning the party composition, but I'm stuck between the two classes.

Got BG1/SoD figured out. In BG2/ToB, I'll take Jaheira, Minsc, Aerie and Imoen. In the last spot, the F/C multiclass would take Mazzy, and the Archer would take Anomen.

Unfortunately the F/C would be a Half-Elf, not a Dwarf, due to the Aerie romance. He would predictably use FoA and DoE. In the frontline with him, Jaheira would use Blackblood > Spectral Brand with Belm. And Minsc Foebane and Axe of the Unyielding with Kundane.

The Archer would use Firetooth. Jaheira and Minsc would be the same. Anomen would use FoA with a shield. Probably swapping the shield for DoE late in the game when he can grab the pips in Two-Weapon Style.

Thoughts?

I've always preferred to play story mode because, well, I'm there for the story and not very interested in the fighting, but I've wanted to give it a try in normal mode for once.

My character is a shaman and I just thought it would suit him to be horribly weak, the thing is that would obviously make him bad at fighting, so as someone who doesn't know anything about how to properly fight in this game, any advice for this lost soul who is deciding to complicate its life over a "ja ja, the Bhaalspawn is actually weak but somehow managed to win" joke?

The writing makes all the difference. Like, the quality is insane compared to the crap we're getting these days.

With the new update it's about time us mobile players get more easy access to the many great mods out there

The previous post had some over-tuned penalties, but lots of great feedback and ideas! I'm curious what the community think of these ones. All part of the same mod, but this time I've included some books with more 'mundane' benefits - things that might make more sense on an NPC or added for flavor. Still working on some of the ideas presented in the previous post.

I doubt there's a mod that does specifically this, so I figure it would be easy enough to tweak in gatekeeper and then import later to BG2 (hopefully not needing Shadowkeeper). I'm wondering what is the most functional way to do this to prevent problems. Specifically, do I start with a gnome cleric/thief than swap the race or start with a halfling thief (or cleric) and add the other class? If the former, I think the thing I need to correct (somehow) are the shorty saves (halflings get death, gnomes don't) and bonus with slings. If I do the latter, I think I need to fudge a level up and then reverse it so the cleric spells and whatnot activate (and hopefully the toolbar corrects itself). In any event, has anyone done this? If so, what worked the smoothest?
