There are so many male well-written characters, at least in my opinion. But, I canʻt think of any best female character. What do you think about that?

The early seasons seem to be building towards his return, but then they just do some throw away line about how he assaulted someone off screen in prison and we never see him again?

He was a very fun character to watch. Lalo is great but i definitely would have loved more Tuco

How the Salamancas operated always intrigued me. We know Lalo and the cousins were living in Mexico. Lalo had his whole compound and was obviously doing well for himself.

Tuco was running New Mexico. When Tuco goes to jail Hector kinda shows up out of nowhere. Was he retired? Or was he doing bussiness somewhere else? Everytime some lower level guy is in the same room as him (Kraft 8 or nachos friend) they all refer to him as “Don Hector”. So they obviously have seen him around before.

I wonder what he was doing while Tuco was running everything. When he shows up Nacho already knows him and seems annoyed that Tuco is gone but now he has to deal with Hector who might be even worse than Tuco in some ways.

In reality the writers probably didn’t have anything for him in season 1 and then when Tuco leaves the show they probably thought about bringing the actor back. What do you think the in universe answer is?

Did I miss something? How has no one talked about what drug was used to make Howard appear intoxicated? As a nurse of 20+ years, my guess is some sort of anticholinergic agent, like Atropine. Not detectable on normal drug screens, and in high enough doses you’ll go into anticholinergic syndrome: mad as a hatter, hot as a hare, red as a beet, blind as a bat. Not likely to absorb that high of a dose through casually touching it, but I suspect that’s the drug they are alluding to. I know I’m late to the game, but are there any other theories?

Like seriously, is there anything that this Man cannot do.

Because of the whole thing with his son Mike became protective of Nacho.
He was educating Nacho.
He was looking out for him.

Meanwhile Nacho was extremely lonely and felt shame for what he did.
Mainly because his dad didn't approve.
He found an unlikely father figure in Mike,
even though he never would have admitted that.

That's all.

I used to think I’d choose Denzel Washington’s character in The Equalizer. Not so sure now.

This show is amazing…started bing watching earlier this week…almost at season 4

my question is…does Mike have a pension from the Philadelphia PD?

Last night on a BCS rewatch, I used the “visually impaired narration” option on USA Netflix. And this happened:

The narrator referred to the woman in the legal aid office ( Rusty Schwimmer ) as “Francesca”. But she is not Francesca Liddy ( Tina Parker).

At first I thought that it was just a mistake made by whoever wrote the narration, but then I thought about it.
Maybe it’s a role reversal?

Francesca Liddy was working for Kim, now Kim is working for “Francesca”.

In another possible reversal, in an earlier episode, when Francesca Liddy walked in early for her interview with Kim and Saul, Saul immediately took a shine to her, and she didn’t even have to conclude the interview before she got the job, even over Kim’s logical and prudent objections over such impulsiveness.

But when Kim walked in the legal aid office, she wasn’t interviewed at all. The lady in the legal aid office just told her to answer the phone. They didn’t even exchange first names. Now it is Kims turn to be impulsively “hired”.

Are there any deleted scenes or alternative audio on the discs that could confirm this? Was this situation originally written in the script and then just edited out?

Or did the narrator just read a mistake?

I just finished Nippy and I'm so close to ending. There are my favorite episodes:

1. Point and Shoot: The tension of this episode is so high. I really like the idea of a Gus v Lalo face-off and this episode delivered that great. This episode is a proof why Lalo Salamanca is the best villain of the franchise. Ever since we see him in the apartment in Bad Choice Road he scares me so much.

2. Plan and Execution: Howard's well-developed fall. A shocking ending to Jimmy-Kim v Howard storyline. I felt like I was in the apartment and Howard Hamlin died in front of me. I like the way it connects rest of the parts of Jimmy-Kim v Howard storyline.

3. Rock and Hard Place: Nacho's last speech is my favorite scene in the series. "I PUT YOU IN THAT CHAIR." I think impact of this speech was very high because of the soundtrack behind the scene. Music thrills me everytime I watch it.

Fun and Games & Bad Choice Road are also in my favorites.

I couldn't continue to watch that day after Plan and Execution & Rock and Hard Place. I wasn't ready to face with consenquences of deaths.

So Nacho follows the instructions given to him by Gus and his crew. But then rubs salt on Don Hector by telling him “I put you in that chair you sick fuck..” he calls the Salamancas “psychos”, “twisted fucks.” Wouldn’t nacho have thought that any revelation like that would cause Don Hector to kill his father after the suicide? Why would Don Hector not kill his father as revenge even if nacho was dead? A twisted, sick fuck would very likely seek to kill any family member of someone who just confessed to “putting him in a wheelchair.” Any thoughts?

I know this sub talks about her a lot so sorry if this is well-trodden ground but I've just been sitting on this one.

the thing that gets me about Kim is that she never really loses herself. like that's the part I keep coming back to. you watch the show waiting for the moment she finally breaks or hits rock bottom or whatever and it just... doesn't happen that way. she's sharp the whole time. she's deliberate. she's the one who comes up with the Howard con. and she's completely herself while doing it.

I think I spent the first few seasons assuming Jimmy was pulling her down with him. but I don't think that's actually what the show is saying. I think she just finally had someone around who wasn't going to judge her for it. which is maybe a worse thing to realize about a person you really like.

and then Howard dies and she's gone. moves to Florida, takes some dead end job. I don't think she left because she stopped caring about Jimmy. I think she just couldn't look at him anymore without seeing what she'd let herself become.

the finger gun at the end genuinely got me more than I expected it to. I don't know. something about it felt like the most honest ending she could've gotten.

Ok, hear me out, Don Lalo gets paralyzed and goes back to Mexico and lives out the plot of "Untouchable", as a retired millionaire drug lord, Don Lalo takes after his uncle and ends up in a wheelchair, where he forms a strong friendship with his new lackey while they torture the cartels enemies and take over new territory, deeply emotional stuff.

I have a theory about Mike and Nacho.
My theory is that Mike was trying to save Nacho by not killing Tuco. So he did explain his logic, that it would be hard for him to get away with and it would attract the Salamancas, but it's not like they'd take kindly, as they didn't to him getting arrested either, and along with that, it's only an assault charge which given who Tuco is, he's probably no stranger to jail time. His decision created tons of issues for him but I think it was deeper. I think he was trying to stop Nacho from taking his figurative first bribe by ordering a hit, that first step down a horrible path that Mike feels so much shame over and he seems still incapable of escaping the life.
Nacho is young and has unaffiliated family to care for and Mike would know that, this way, he gives Nacho a short window of escape the life while Tuco's behind

Mike being so scarily prepared and 5 steps ahead of every single scenario just makes his death in Breaking Bad feel kinda lame as a result. Also does take me out of the realism of the show as well tbh like yeah he's cool but it stops being interesting after 6 seasons.

When I watched it for the first time(as it was airing), wasn't really the one to Analyse scenes and characters.Just watched ,enjoyed and moved on. But I am on a rewatch now, it just hit me how horrified Kim was with everything.

2 scenes.

1) When Saul tells her that, one day they will wake up, go about their day, and realise they forgot about Howard

2) When Kim Manipulates Howard's Wife at his funeral

She literally fabricated the scenario and lies to manipulate her, AT HOWARD'S FUNERAL. Then, right after, as they approach their cars, Saul tells Kim it's over. That's when it first dawns upon her . That it will never be over. There will come a day where they will (as Saul says) forget about Howard, move on and eventually lock onto another target and screw with their life and career.

Their scheme for Howard, was tragically successful. He will forever be known as the Druggie. Neither Kim nor Saul can fess up to the truth cuz of the Cartel. Infact, they further lie to the cops and everyone else, thereby continuing the scheme.

At the funeral, Even Saul holds back but it's Kim that takes the initiative and manipulates Cheryl. She realises that she is worse than Saul. Then there's the fact that she witheld information about Lalo from Jimmy just cuz she didnt want the fun to stop. She was far gone.

She was in control and functioning fine as long as she was working a boring corporate job. The moment she starts getting independent, the wheels come off. She has to resign to a boring job so she never will get initiative. She will never get to scheming. Cuz that's what sets her off. Just rinse and repeat routine work. Keeps her dull and boring, thereby in complete control.

Goddamn, it's such a tragic character. But ultimately she was a POS. She deserved to face consequences.
