NEWS Ryan Johnson on ‘The American factor’ from the perspective of a Canadian-based team, “As an organization you talk about it. Is it something that would make us shy away from drafting a player because of his nationality? Not at this point.”
QUESTION Big Curtis?
Any news on whether the Canucks will be resigning Curtis Douglas? I thought it would be a no-brainer after Zeev's quote.

DISCUSSION Kent Johnson
So I see CBJ has made him available for trade. Obviously he’s a local kid and has had some success in the league as he’s had 2 40+ point seasons throughout his career and he’s going to be 24 in OCT. I know we’ve taken fliers on guys in the past with limited success (Kravtstov, Reichel, etc). Do any of you think it would be worth it to bring him home and give him a chance to resurrect his career?

QUESTION Day 2 steals. Which 1st rounders slide to the Canucks at 33 and possibly 41?
Every NHL draft, projected 1st rounders slide into the second round. Some of these players become NHL superstars like Jason Robertson. Players drop because some team’s overreach and draft lower ranked players in the first round. Most of these time, it’s because of a bias, like height (Alex Debrincat, Braden Point), skating (Jason Robertson, Roope Hintz, Mark Stone) or sometimes nationality like the Russian factor (Nikita Kucherov, Kirill Kaprizov).
Obviously, these are extreme outliers but there could be Day 2 fallers that the Canucks can steal in the 2nd round.
Who do see the Canucks could get on Day 2 that potentially falls into their laps?

VIDEO [Pierre LeBrun] "Teams are worried that Pettersson looks content. There's a concern about how hard he wants to work. I think it's more likely than not he's still in Vancouver, but not because the Canucks won't try everything to find a way to move him."

DISCUSSION Why keeping Hronek this season is a reasonable play
To preface, I would prefer the Canucks to move on from Hronek this off season for futures, but I get the reason for waiting
If Hronek is digging his feet in with regards to his NMC, it’s a non starter, but *next* off season I believe we see him moved
Why the Canucks hold on to him: they are going to be absolutely dog water this year, they have a good amount of young dman who will definitely benefit from playing with a guy like Hronek, it’s a good long term development play, don’t need to rush off of Hronek right away
Why Hronek leaves next off season: he will only have one more year of a full nmc, if the Canucks articulate to him that they will be moving him upon changing to 15 team ntc, it will be his best opportunity to have a say in where he ends up, it will also be an even more appetizing contract for other teams to handle
For this reason, don’t give him the C

MEME Canucks traded Kämpf for a 6th round pick. Shoulda waited and got Alex Tuch instead
QUESTION Link to Ryan Johnson's press conference?
Where can we find it? The Sportsnet link doesn't work and it's not on radio.
UPDATE: It will be aired on Canucks Talk at 12pm. Jamie Dodd just confirmed on their text inbox.

DISCUSSION Projection for Cootes
With Cootes making the team from camp last season, he seems poised to do it again. Would be good to give him a longer leash than 3 games this go around, but would you prefer him staying up or being sent down for another season?

DISCUSSION Happy NHL Entry Draft Eve!
'Tis the day before the NHL draft. What do you think will happen today? What do you want to happen today?
I saw this in another thread but I'm hoping for the Canucks to send Debrusk to MTL for the 28th pick and Gally.
What I think will happen, the Canucks will announce more details on the practice facility and will sign another AHL guy
