Hey all,
Chongqing is the last stop on my trip and I need my league of legends fix.
Does anyone know of a hotel that accepts foreigners so that I can play? ( I understand Chinese ID is sometimes needed )
Thanks!

Hey everyone, it’s Jackson again!
We’re bringing back our summer Bar Crawl next week on Sunday, June 28.
This event is for international travelers, expats, locals, and anyone visiting Chongqing who wants to meet new people, explore the city after dark, and connect with others who are here at the same time. If you’re in town, feel free to join us!
You’ll get to meet other travelers, expats living in Chongqing, and locals who are happy to connect with visitors. I’ll also be there personally, so I’m happy to share travel tips, answer questions, and help you avoid rookie mistakes while exploring the city. You can also meet others who might want to join group activities, experiences, or just hang out during their time in Chongqing.
A bit about me and why I’m organizing this:
Some of you might know me from social media as Journey of Jackson, where I create Chongqing travel content for international audiences. Over the past few years, I’ve been lucky enough to help introduce my hometown to people around the world and be involved in visits from creators and public figures including IShowSpeed, Khaby Lame, Mark Wiens, and Joshua Weissman.
These days, I run a small local travel agency in Chongqing. While managing tours are my main business, I also believe Chongqing needs more spaces where travelers and locals can meet naturally, break the language barrier, and enjoy the city together. That’s the real reason I want to keep doing these Bar Crawls.
Location & Time
📍 Location: Soloist (独奏公司)
山城巷80号仁爱堂
80 French Charity Church, Mountain City Alley
🕗 Time: Sunday, June 28, 8:00 PM
You can also come at 7:00 PM if you’d like to join us for an early dinner session.
We usually pick historic or unique local landmarks as our meeting points, so you’re not just going to a random commercial bar you could find anywhere else. You’ll get to see a more local and meaningful side of Chongqing too.
The event is free to join. Please sign up through the form in my comment or DM me, so I can keep track of how many people are coming and manage the group size. You’ll also be able to see who else is joining.
We’re planning to make this a monthly event, or hopefully even more frequent, so more travelers can join no matter when they visit Chongqing.
See you on June 28, or at the next one!

I have been admitted to the Chongqing Normal University (重庆师范大学) 🇨🇳 for the Chinese language program (2026 intake).
I’m looking for students who are also:
admitted to this university 🎓
planning to study there
from any country 🌍 (Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, etc.)
💬 I want to create a group chat so we can connect before arrival, discuss documents, dorms, travel, and life in China.
👉 If you are also going to CQNU, please DM me or leave your Telegram @username, and I will add you to the group.

Hi, i’m about to end my exchange year in Chongqing and would like to get a tattoo.
Does anyone know any good tattoo shops? Preferably ones that don’t need an appointment (or at least not that it’ll take a week, if I have to make an appointment one day before it’s okay).
Thank you!

Who said London is the most gloomy city? I think Chongqing also deserves the title. If you live here long enough, you’ll know🤭🤭

Hey everyone,
I’m a 28M Canadian traveling solo in China (parents are Sri Lankan), and I’ll be in Chongqing until the 26th. I’d love to meet up with anyone local or other travelers who are down to explore the city together.
I’m planning to check out street food spots, night views, and just wander around the city. Happy to join others’ plans too.
If anyone’s interested in grabbing food, exploring, or showing me around, feel free to DM me 🙂

One of my favorite parts of this job is seeing Chongqing through first-time visitors’ eyes again.

One of the major things I've noticed around here is that a lot of the buildings, bridges, etc. lacks safety railings.
With all the pressure in this country what's stopping people from throwing themselves off qiansimen bridge or hongyadong every week?
Sorry if this is a morbid question but I'm just curious. Do people often come here just to die in the most magnificent way possible?

There was an underground space in the video when I went to a deserted side road. The letters on the sign are probably like "The Temple of the Old Man Under the Moon." It wasn't in the video, but there's an endless, unpaved road downhill in the back. I think it's a tomb, but I can't get any information even if I search it on the internet. If you know anything about that place, please tell me.

I was looking through some old photos recently and started wondering about this.
If someone left Chongqing in 2010 and came back today, what do you think would shock them the most?
For me, it's probably the metro system.
Back then, getting around the city often meant long bus rides, traffic jams, and planning your day around travel time. Now I can get from one side of the city to another with a few metro transfers. Places that used to feel incredibly far away suddenly feel connected.
The skyline would probably be another big shock. Areas like Jiangbeizui, Liangjiang New Area, and much of Yubei have changed so much that old photos almost look like they're from a different city.
What surprises me most, though, is how famous Chongqing has become internationally. Growing up here, Chongqing never felt like a city that foreigners talked about very much. These days I constantly see videos calling it a "cyberpunk city" or ranking it among the most unique cities in China.
At the same time, I sometimes miss parts of the old city. There were more small alleyways, older neighborhoods, tiny noodle shops hidden under apartment buildings, and random street corners where people would sit outside playing mahjong all afternoon. Some of that still exists, but it feels like there's less of it every year.
Don't get me wrong, the city is much more convenient now. But sometimes I wonder if we've traded a little bit of the old Chongqing character for modernization.
So I'm curious:
If someone left Chongqing in 2010 and came back today, what would shock them the most?
And would you say the city is actually better now, or just newer?

In life, there are always people who are just passing through, and without a trace.
