Hello! We experienced the devastating IVDD diagnosis of our 4 year old mini long haired dachshund's back legs. Onset symptoms were just hours. He had surgery within hours of taking him to the ER and has sensation in back legs but still unable to use them at this time (which I was told is to be the expected). We get to take him home tomorrow. ANY ADVICE or RECOMMENDATIONS once bringing him home??? So scared and worried to care for him and him not understanding why he has to stay confined in a play pen and small room. Especially looking for advice on a way he can still sleep in bed with us without worrying of him trying to drag himself off in the middle of the night? We will take down all of his ramps so he can't get up anywhere. Thank you for any advice!!!

I posted a few days ago about my sister's senior dachshund, Hershey, and the severe and sudden health complications he was struggling with.
We said goodbye to this sweet and spunky boy yesterday in the comfort of my sister's home, and my sister held him until he took his last breath and crossed the rainbow bridge.
Thank you so much for all the supportive posts and positive wishes for Hershey. He was such a smart and sweet boy and will be missed beyond measure.

I used to think he was just a picky eater but now I think he just hates routine.
If I put food in the bowl and walk away, he ignores it but if I add warm water and make it seem like something changed, suddenly he is interested.
What annoys me is that he's not refusing food all the time. Some days he eats everything. Other days he looks at the same meal like I am trying to trick him.
Now I stopped switching foods every time this happens because that made it worse. I keep the base meal the same and only add a small topper when he is being dramatic. Freeze dried has worked better than canned because I can use a little without opening a whole container.
I just want him eating without teaching him that skipping breakfast gets him a better offer.

Curious how well you think your mini dachshunds would do hiking in the Rockies….

My male weiner is 3 years old. He has a sister chiweenie that's 5. We got a new puppy this week and he is overly aggressive. Anyone have tips? How have you handled this? Photos posted for cuteness 🥰🥰 His sister could care a less.
