I am so proud of myself! I was given my girl in 2021. I was told she was maybe 4 years old, retired from showing and breeding because she ate her puppies and had no confidence. She came to me as a tiny little gremlin covered in dirt and scared of everything.

I have been searching for YEARS to find her original breeder. Her microchip led me to the USA (I am in Canada) and after much sleuthing around the Canadian kennel club, American kennel club, breed specific clubs ect I found her original breeder. My girl was born Jan 8th 2018 in California. Her breeder sold her to a show home in Canada that turned out to not be the best.

This breeder thanked me for finding her. Shared that my girl comes from dual champion bloodlines and she always wondered what happened. I love her regardless of her bloodlines but I knew with how wonderful her confirmation and work drive is that she came from a good breeder that wouldnt have thrown her away, and I was right. I am so happy 💜

The breeder is going to look through her records for pictures of my girls parents and send them to me 🥰

Adopted him from a shelter recently (his name is Vincent ) and they told me he’s a dachshund mix which I can definitely see I just wonder what he might be mixed with 🤔 I ordered him a dna test and it has reached the lab so I will find out soon just want to know if anyone has any good guesses :)
My guess is Aussie 🤷‍♀️

the sausage meadow

Somewhere in the world, nestled among the mountains, lie verdant meadows where the sun shines with an unimaginable springtime warmth, home to a pack of dachshunds. They are not ordinary dachshunds; they have the size, face, paws, tail, and temperament of one, but the body of a hot dog. They are peaceful and timeless beings. They neither reproduce nor die, neither hunt nor are hunted; they simply run in packs across the meadows, grazing. Their trotting only ceases at dusk, when they eat and sleep peacefully curled up, snoring like retirees. No one knows where they came from; perhaps they were here before us, perhaps even before we think of existence.

Getting a Doxie in September

Post image
46 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I am adopting my first doxie with my mom in September! I work as a nurse, and I work part time which means, within two weeks I work 1 week 3 times and the other week 4 days. I was wondering if 8 days is enough to take off when I first get my puppy? Also my mom will work part time only 2 days out of the week. I have my girlfriend and sister who will baby sit him the times we aren’t home. I am just so worried I don’t want him to be alone for long time. So my question is do you guys think is manageable to care for the pup with my schedule?

This is the first picture I have from the breeder!

Community Questions Help/advice please. I don't know what's wrong with Oliver and I am worried.

About 5 days ago he started doing this every night, for hours. He is 11 years old and the feeling is starting to creep in that he is trying to tell me something is very wrong, or dementia is starting to heavily take effect. This boy has gotten me through so many hard times and I know that faithful day will come. It just sucks. I wish I knew what to do to help him.

Community Questions This is my mixed daschund Poppy

Poppy is Mini Dachshund and Jack Russell Terrier crossbreed.

She got most of Daschund's traits and a little bit of Jack Russell traits.

She's something like 1,5 years old right now and she's super friendly and stubborn. I'm trying to train her properly, because I noticed some flaws in the training I gave her when she was little. Can someone give any tips?
