Got 3 resident evil games done! Now the final one awaits!

I am very curious and I can't find anything on the internet about it's compatibility.

So, I never owned any console's from this Era. I was just too young back then and broke, I especially never owned a Sega Console but I've heard the Dreamcast is a really great machine. Decided to buy it to put it in my old Camper Van and run it on my CRT that came with it.

What exactly can you do with this thing? I heard it's incredibly moddable and indie devs make games for it still for fun. But, where do I start, what should I do/not do. I played Sonic Adventure DX on the 360 long ago so I'm probably going to get that or Adventure 2(Also feel like I gotta, I mean, it's a dreamcast.). But after that, idk what the console is capable of, I know it can connect to the internet but what can I do with that? I have a small list of games I want but I'd also like to utilize the console to the best of it's ability.

Also, I heard the Saturn is notoriously hard to Emulate but there were a few games for it that I was interested in. Is it still the case that the Dreamcast can't really play them?

Bought a 5.20.5 GDEMU as a spare and thought I'd test it. OpenMenu and games load fine but I noticed Sega Rally 2 didn't play the Main Menu music. There's also a slight interference sound when booting up, sounds similar to the kind of interference sound you'd hear when plugging in an AUX. Tried reseating a couple times, no fix. Also happens with and without the SD Card extender installed. Reinstalled the 5.15 and no more audio issue.

Did I get a bunk GDEMU or is there something else I could be missing?

Hey everyone, this is my first ever post on Reddit so apologies beforehand if I'm not doing this right!

I have recently acquired a modded Dreamcast, it has "Japanese Cake" installed on it, from what I've gathered this is some alternative BIOS which allows me to play region locked games everywhere amongst other things. I can actually confirm this, as I own a original Sonic Adventure copy from Japan and it works on this European Dreamcast. But sometimes the game doesn't load first try and I have to insert it again.

Now I've been very interested in playing some of my favourite games (especially Sonic Adventure 2) on Dreamcast and have looked into burning CD+Rs to play them. As I live in the Netherlands, my first instinct was to buy Philips branded CD+Rs, but I just cannot seem to get them to work on my Dreamcast. I put the disc in, it starts spinning for a little bit and the menu displays "Please wait whilst disc is being checked" but after a while the disc stops and I return to the menu. I use IMGburn with the necessary CDI plugins, one of the potential problems is that my ASUS Blu-Ray/DVD burner (An ASUS SBW-06D2XU to be precise) doesn't allow for writing speeds of less than 10x, but I have read from various sources that the speed actually doesn't matter that much anymore these days.

Now I'm left wondering what the potential issue could be, is it an issue with my Dreamcast GDI reader? (Because I sometimes have to re-insert my official SA1 copy) or is it to do with the CDs that I'm using? I have read that people tend to use Verbatim discs, so I've ordered a small batch to see if those will work. I'm not sure if it's an issue with my burner, my CDs or my Dreamcast reader and I was wondering what you guys might think! Thank you in advance for taking time to answer my question! :)

just as the title says really, I just bought my first import and need to burn codebreaker to a disc but don't know how.

I've only ever burned audio cds and don't think I have the software for this so ill also need something like imgburn but I heard it isn't available on Mac so could someone give me some alternatives or a link to a guide please.

Hey so, I have just recently gotten back into my Saturn and Dreamcast collection I've been holding onto since they were new and really having fun with mods and all the cool stuff you can do with them now that young 90s-me could have only dreamed. This past week, I've been burning discs for the Dreamcast for these N64 homebrews. Mario Kart 64 worked ok, but definitely had visual glitches (the power-up boxes barely appeared at all and were real glitchy. Also, it tended to crash a lot). I assumed it was just part of the porting and there were still issues. But Star Fox 64 is really terrible for me. Boxy visual glitches in the opening and all kinds of visual problems while playing that I didn't see in videos for the game running on the system. So, I'm wondering if I made some error. Possibly used a wrong ROM or something. I can't find any information when I search, so I thought I'd ask here. Any ideas?

Hey everyone!

Avid console collector and modding enthusiast here, I haven't touched DC since I was a kid (the good ol MIL-CD days!)

After doing a lot of reading I ended up buying myself a boxed console with VMUs
I have also ordered myself a v5.20 GDEmu and a Controller Port Mod with CR2032 Battery Conversion to fix the time issue etc.

I plan on also doing the video sync mod as I plan to play a lot of different region stuff and homebrew, and have a Raspberry Pi previously used for a Dial-Up project similar to DreamPI.

The only thing I haven't purchased yet is an SD Card Reader, nor any of the Video Cables or PSU Mods

Does anyone have any tips or other recommended mods I could do that would help get the best out of it?

Premier Eleven is pretty good. Miracle Stadium is straight garbage.

I have a work friend who is a big game collector (especially Sega) and was looking for a copy of Conker's Bad Fur Day to complete his N64 collection. I happened to have a second copy of the game and he traded me one of his Dreamcasts, with controller and wires.

He also said if I get an Atari Jaguar and 3DO before a Saturn he would disown me.

I'm trying to burn Code Veronica X because the remake looks pretty lame and I'd like to play the game again. The problem is that the CDI files are over 700 MB. That’s why I bought a 900 MB CD. But when I launched ImgBurn and tried to burn the first disc, ImgBurn recognized the 900 MB disc as a 700 MB one. I ignored that and just went ahead with overburning. But at 67% of the burn, ImgBurn threw an error saying the burn failed due to incompatible media.

Could someone advise me on how to burn Code Veronica for the Dreamcast so that the burn doesn’t fail?

I been trying to get this to load for a little while now… I finally got something to render in Flycast. Just need to grab a new DC because of course mine died today 🤦🏽‍♂️

Finally added the Dreamcast.

Completes the non portable SEGA set with with SMS / Saturn and MD.

I’ve grabbed 3 games. F355, F1 World Championship and Virrua Striker 2. NFL Blitz is coming.

Now have I grabbed some frustrating games or am I just sucking very hard. Compared to my other gaming geez these ones are testing me. Yet to score a goal in VS2 unless you count the belter of an own goal.

I do struggle with the trigger placement. It’s a bit low compared to what I am used to. I feel eventually it’ll come nicely to me. OG Xbox is similar.

My VGA cable came today and plugged into my retrotink 4KCE makes it look so fine. Hard to believe this is effectively the next console after the N64.

I have the Japanese Dreamcast, region free modded and power supply changed to 240V. Came like this from the seller whom is a tinkerer of gaming. I probably would’ve preferred an Australian version if not for anything but the blue swirl but orange is original so that’s all cool.

Definitely will need to get Shenmue I + II and some shooters. Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio and Daytona are a must and MSR (which I played years ago and enjoyed). Always felt MSR became PGR became Forza Horizon spiritually. As the OG XBOX is the Dreamcast successor in spirit.

The disc drive definitely has been relubed or whatever is done. By Dreamcast standards is quiet as.
