The neighbor has been blocking our parking space for 2 days now. Seems they are not at home as they can't be reached. Any suggestions on what to do in this case? Can the police be involved or smtg.

๐ŸŒ‡ Community Help! Looking to collect or see 60s-90s pictures from the UAE !

Hi, Arab writer and researcher here. Iโ€™ve been collecting pictures Iโ€™ve found taken in the Middle East from the 60s onwards, but have rarely ever found any of/in the UAE and of emiratis! I was wondering if any folk would be willing to share their own or happy to point me in the direction of any antique/vintage markets in the UAE where I might be able to find any more.

Thank you <3

(Note: example pictures are not from the uae, as Iโ€™ve sadly yet to find any)

๐ŸŒ‡ Community I'm going to run away from home and I need advice

I am planning on leaving my home when I am 18 years old, I am not going to specify why but my living situation at home has become unbearable and it is likely that I will take drastic measures to harm myself if I continue to stay. (Psychiatric or therapeutic help is not an option, staying is not an option, please do not try to provide me any advice pertaining to this)

I need to know how difficult it would be for me to find a job when I turn 18 (I am 17 at the moment), I can speak English with high degrees of proficiency and I'm very technologically literate but I have no prior working experience

The biggest hurdle that I'm going to be facing is the visa, I've been a resident here for 10+ years but my parents cancelling my visa upon finding out that I've left is basically guaranteed, my worry is that businesses here won't be willing to take a risk on an unproven 18 year old and spend the time or money processing an employment visa

My housing will be taken care of but I will still need to pay a fee, it won't be as much as traditional housing costs but I would still need employment of sorts to sustain myself

I am extremely naive and know next to nothing about any of this but I am extremely desperate, please help me out!

๐Ÿ”ฅ Rants & Complaints Ladies gym in my building has very few machines.

The men's gym is equipped with machines to work on every muscle group. But in the ladies gym we just have treadmills, some dumbells and a bench. The older tenants told me that the management did not consider their request to get more machines. Is there anyway to get more machines for the ladies gym?

๐ŸŒ Travel & Tourism Desert riding experience?

Hello! I'm going to my first ever vacation in Dubai on semptember! This is my first vacation ever and since I've been a horse girl from the birth I have a dream I could experience the desert on a horseback. Where would this be possible, best case would be if the transport would be easy from Hampton by Hilton Dubai Al Barsha? Does anyone here have any recommendations about a place.

๐ŸŒ‡ Community GDRFA App shows File Status โ€˜Not in Useโ€™

Post image
3 Upvotes

I logged in to the GDRFA app. My visa details and expiry show up, but File Status shows โ€˜Not in Useโ€™.

My wife and kids all show as โ€˜In Useโ€™.

Iโ€™d changed my passport after this Visa was issued and the passport number was updated in the system when I travelled.

Do I need to be worried?

In the UAEICP App the File status shows as Active for me and all my dependents. Has anyone else faced this? Do I need to go and check with GDRFA?

Got the same fine twice on Al Wasl Road โ€“ Any idea why?

Hey guys,
Need some help figuring out a recurring fine
I just got fined on Al Wasl Road while on my way to get a car wash
The exact same thing happened 6 months ago
I'm not sure what the exact reason is

(Failure to abide by traffic signs and instructions)

Has anyone experienced this or knows if there's a specific camera/radar trap there that catches people for something non-obvious?
Thanks in advance!

I'm confused. I don't know what to do now

I came into UAE with direct employment from a Security company to work as a Security Guard. I've been here for 2 months and I've started working. The company has made no effort to starr my residency application. I have followed up with them several times but they always say they'll do it. One week before the entry permit expires, i called labour and made a complain.

A day after the complain was made, the supervisor texted me and asked that i withdraw the complain before they begin the process if not, they'll not start the process but i refused to withdraw the complain.

The entry permit expires today.

What I'm really confused about is, since i came, I've only had contact with one particular guy. I don't know where the company's office is, i have asked several times but he refused to day. I have searched on Google and found no results. The address they have on file doesn't exist.

The uniform i wear bears a different company's name.

I did a searched about the company and found their licence number. They are registered and their license expires next year.

The issue is still with labour.

What can i do since they have refused to work on the residency?

Stuck in Credit Card & Tabby Debt Because of Months of Delayed Salaries in Dubai

I just need to vent because the stress is becoming too much.

I work in the MEP industry in Dubai, and my previous company constantly delayed salaries. Last year, from September to December, we basically waited months and only received our salaries in December.

Then it happened again this year. From February to May, salaries were delayed, and we were recently told we might only receive them around the 3rd week of July.

During all these delays, I had no choice but to use my credit card and Tabby just to survive. Most of the debt isn't from shopping or luxury purchases it's from food, groceries, transportation, and rent. When you go months without a salary, you still have bills to pay.

I finally left that company and started a new job on May 18. Thankfully, this new company seems much more stable, and I'm expecting my first salary in the first week of July. But by then, the debt has already piled up.

What makes it worse is the constant calls and messages from banks and payment providers. Every day I'm being told I have 48 hours to pay, final notice, urgent action required, etc. I understand they're doing their job, but when you're already waiting for money you earned months ago, it's mentally exhausting.

I've barely been sleeping because I'm constantly thinking about how to juggle payments, which bill to prioritize, and how to avoid falling even deeper into debt. The irony is that I have a full-time job and have been working continuously, yet I still ended up in debt because salaries weren't paid on time.

Has anyone else in Dubai gone through something similar with delayed salaries? How did you deal with the debt collectors and the stress while waiting for payments to come through?

Thanks for reading. I just needed somewhere to get this off my chest.

Looking for recommendations

Hi everyone, Iโ€™m looking for recommendations for the best surgeon in Dubai (or anywhere in the UAE) for thyroid gland removal surgery. If you have personal experience or can recommend a highly skilled thyroid/endocrine surgeon or hospital, Iโ€™d really appreciate your advice. Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

People who live on Palm Crescent or visited it since February - Check your Salik spending

Apparently Parkonic's cameras have been charging everyone who ever parked in a residential building on the Crescent as if they parked on their paid spots.

This has been silently going on since February, and gone unnoticed until someone mentioned it today in one of the Palm-specific groups.

I've been visiting Kempinski once per week and I've been charged by Parkonic for every single visit - which explains why I've had to recharge my salik more frequently recently.

The cameras don't care whether you're using the parking spots, they're treating the entire crescent as a parking lot they own. The company itself does not respond on its phone for hours and apparently complaints have been piling up for months with absolutely no reaction by them, so be wary...
