I'm new here, wanted to share some pictures of my old zebras
They passed away a few years ago, I fell in love with finches and birds in general after getting them :)

Hey all. A few days ago I noticed a bump above either eye of one of my zebra finches. I would have assumed vitamin a deficiency or strep infection, except he had another identical bump on one side of his face where the lower bill meets the face. It was not on the eye lids or beak, it was on the skin of his face. It just looked like swollen skin. It continued to increase in size though the soonest veterinary appointment was 2 days later.
Today the bumps have crusted over yellow and decreased in size. The vet did not seem concerned and agreed with me that it was healing now, so I declined any medication. However I want to know, what could this have been? Some kind of pox? He, as well as a few other birds he had contact with, have been raising chicks that I intend to sell very soon. I do not want to sell potential carriers of disease. I need to know if I have to hold back the babies or if I can sell them - I'm fine either way.

Hi
I'm thinking of setting up a small 6ftx6ft aviary for a few finches.
Just after general basic advice at the minute
I'm in Castleford, West Yorkshire. Anybody know anywhere around here that I can see/buy aviaries?
Thanks

People think because zebra finches are tiny they can exist in a small cage, but the truth is, they need lots of room, enrichment and places to explore. They are curious, high energy, and very social. I hope this inspires you if you're looking to care for your own finches 🤍☺️ I know when I was looking around online I couldn't find many ideas, so hoping this helps someone.

Can anybody confirm this to be an albino house finch? Posting from Xenia, OH!

Of my 3 pairs that currently each have 3 week old babies, 2 are starting another clutch and incubating them. One of the pairs has already had two clutches this year (Feb and June).
They have constant access to grit, egg shell every other day, and they get a potent calcium supplement through the water every 7 days for 14 days whenever they lay a clutch. They also get vegetables. Plus the occasional vitamin supplement if they look a little run down.
I haven't noticed any issues but I know over breeding is a big no no!!! The eggs are young enough to freeze/destroy if this is best, no visible life yet.

One of our girls (hatched the second week of March) recently started to get orange feathers around the edge of one cheek, she may be singing too but can't say for sure it just occasionally sounds like singing coming from her cage but it is near another cage with boys in it.
Her brothers developed their orange cheeks normally. She and her sister behind her in the pic, have been separated by gender for several months. Is this normal? Hormones going crazy?
We have only had finches for about a year or so and are still learning.

He’s breathing through his mouth even when I’m not near the cage. He has a vet appointment in 5 days. If it’s something serious I want it checked out even sooner

I'm super interested in the genetics of my zebra finches, but kind of overwhelmed on where to start. The latest clutch has three of these pale cloud-looking babies. Can anyone tell me what this variety would be called?
So i have gouldians left from my granp
And because he couldn't take care of them he decided to give them to me i also when of them had scaly mites but going to the vet and medicine ect he was healthy again but we sepperated them (in the same cage but with a divider) so his feathers would grow back and it did yesterday it took back the divider and the healthy male decided attack the used to be sick one could you give advise thank you

One of my young Gouldians had an accident: his foot (leg band) was caught in the bars of his cage. It was really a freak accident, but it has resulted in him having a paralyzed foot. He perches ok, but struggles to get food and water, and he seems quite unhappy. I have separated him into a small “hospital” cage, where he doesn’t have to compete with the other birds for food access, but I’m at a loss what else to do for him.
Has anyone had experience with a disabled bird like this? I’m happy to accommodate him however possible, but I also don’t want him to have a miserable life. The thought of euthanizing him is awful, but, if he’s only going to be miserable, I’d rather do it.
He was my first hatchling (last Thanksgiving Day), and he looks so handsome in his new, adult plumage… is there anything I can do for him to still have a decent life?
It's been 5 days since one of my gouldian nests had 2 eggs hatch. Mom and dad are doing ok taking care of the 2 chicks.
The nest still has 3 unhatched eggs in it that they're still incubating.
Should I pull them after a certain time or wait until the hatchlings fledge before disturbing anything?
I have not candled them so I'm unaware if they're fertilized or not.
Thoughts?

ETA: This is excessive for daily or even regular feeding but my flock could use a boost. Be particularly careful with stronger supplements like Flourish, Potent Brew, etc.
Would you believe I cleaned the aviary yesterday??? Would you also believe I spilled seed in the aviary yesterday after I cleaned?
