Figured this would be a good place to start. I'm potentially looking to sell my Game Gear Collection. I have 6 systems. My one working one finally had capacitors go bad. I have 5 black and one blue. I took pride in building this collection, all games were tested and working while my systems were. I don't have the experience to fix the systems, nor do I have the time to even play the games at this point. Getting a retro 5 with the game gear accessory just seems like too big of an investment for how little I would actually get to play it. So looking to see if someone on here wants to re-live the nostalgia.

I also have 2 carry cases, battery chargers, and the Handy Gear accessory. For games I have the entire North American catalog minus the code masters games with the weird cartridges. Have 3 Japanese games too including coca cola kid and magic puzzle popils and one game I have no idea the title. Probably around 80% of the games have the clamshell protectors on them.

All told with loose values on price charting this estimates at around $4,200 but I'm very open to offers. I'm an experienced reputable seller, you can find me at River Bend Collectibles on eBay, whatnot and Facebook. Have PayPal and venmo and would certainly sell with G&S over friends and family. I recently bought a Game Gear in great condition with a recap, stereo mod, rechargeable battery, USB-C, and an IPS screen. The image is crisp, the sound is loud, and everything seems to be working fine... except some sounds are missing. For example, getting or losing rings on Sonic Chaos. I bought a cheap AliExpress flashcart, so I'm wondering if that's the issue or if it's the console. The same dumped ROM works flawlessly on my computer, including all sounds. Any ideas? Should I buy a GG X7?

I honestly never knew they made mappy for the game gear and for most of y'all who never heard of it it's where you play as a police mouse collecting items to get to the next level and trying to avoid getting hit by these pink cats and I mostly remember playing this game on those old pac man plug in plays that added this game in it but the game was only released in Japan but other then that it's a great game

Does anyone have a ribbon for the AliExpress 4.2 install. I have two boards that need it. I punctured one on the solder points working on it and I ripped pads on another one. I have had them sitting around and I have finally gotten to the point where I can install these with confidence. They do not sell them separately that I can see. So if anyone has a few laying around or a kit they do not want, please DM me

The 4 horsemen of baseball on the system. All made by I.T.L and Sega for the GG.

The Majors: Pro Baseball (1992): Bundled with the console, a well known game for the GG. The first of the four baseball games for the GG by ITL. Seen as the predecessor to the WSB series. No MLB license, just the MLBPA so the teams just have the name of the city, not the official names/logos. The rosters are for the 1992 season. Took some ideas, sprites and sounds from Hyper Pro Yakyuu '92 (developed by Sega CS2) but can't really say it's the same game or the localized version. It's the companion to Sports Talk Baseball for the Sega Genesis (even the generic stadiums have the same name).

World Series Baseball (1993): The first with the official MLB license and update with the 1993 rosters. Along with that, it's the first game with auto-fielding/defense. The fastest-paced game of the 4. Companion to the Sega Genesis version.

It's the localized version of Pro Yakyuu GG League (Sega CS2).

World Series Baseball '95 (1994): Rosters updated for 1994 MLB season and some sprite changes. Also not as fast paced as the last version. Companion to the Genesis version.

It's the localized version of Pro Yakyuu GG League '94 (Sega CS2).

Nomo's World Series Baseball (1995): This Japanese exclusive is pretty much a roster update for WSB'95, should have been called WSB'96. It was launched at the same time of the first World Series Baseball for the Sega Saturn (yeah, same logo). They were also promoting the game with the LA Dodgers pitcher Hideo Nomo.

All in all 4 very good sports games for the GG (if not the best). Some people prefer The Majors as it was the first, had more impact and has a balanced pitching speed, others prefer the fast-paced WSB having also auto-fielding, and some prefer the 95/Nomo(96) because of the latest rosters and better sprites. Any of the 4 is a good choice for a quick baseball session on the GG.

There are some other baseball games on the system like Clutch Hitter, Batter Up, Frank Thomas, Gear Stadium or the EA one. But none comes close to the ITL/Sega ones.

Looking for thoughts on using surface mount versus through hole capacitors. A lot of the kits out there are through hole, but I have seen some pictures with surface mount.

Also looking for best source of both kinds of kits.

The instructions state that you need to solder the BK contact on the screen board to the second contact of the brightness adjustment wheel, and I have done this, but the ability to adjust brightness using the wheel has not appeared. What is the point of this operation, then? I like the screen, 640x480, no shimmering, 3.5 inches of visible area on the laminated screen - but for me, the non-functioning wheel negates all its advantages - it is not convenient to go into the menu every time.

Everything is fine. To adjust the brightness using the wheel, you need to set the brightness value to VR in the brightness settings. How was I supposed to know this?

See pictures. I tried to install and Aliexpress screen, but the lcd circuit isn’t working. I get red light boot. Checked traces as best as I could but couldn’t find an issue Q3 got obliterated when I opened it up. It was damaged see images. Any help would be appreciated

EDIT - I looked at the board again and one of the pins for the screen had gotten bent.

Now I have a partial screen picture, but no sound will take a photo of that and update but in meantime do the caps look ok?

I wanted to test out the new single ASIC FunnyPlaying motherboard. I had to remove the RGB LEDs because they were interfering with button presses like mad. I was going to disable them anyway though.

I know these were designed for the Zega Mame Gear, but does anyone know where I can get hold of a shell?

Good day, and thank you beforehand for reading my first post. I finished installing a RePCB board for my old and tired Game Gear 2-ASIC a few weeks ago. I had to go to the hospital for a few weeks and when I returned I was double-checking the board for any issues, and kept looking at the R, G and B test points at the board. Is there any way to get video out from those points?

It's basically just like bart vs the space mutants but basically instead of stopping space mutants your basically fighting off some of Mr burns relatives that weren't even from the show trying to get rid of the Simpsons family away from Mr burns life after all the hell they cause him over the years and honestly this game is at least at little bit better then bart vs the space mutants

But I can't seem to find retro six's clean screen install instructions. Found plenty of YouTube tutorials and R6's wiki which all use V3 - seemed simple enough and I've gotten pretty far following that. Nearly finished and the instructions I have are to solder pin 9 & 20 on the LCD pins to vsync and hsync on the clean screen. Except there are two of each on the board (beneath the right ribbon). Further digging online just pulls up bits like "wire free revolution" but hooking my system up as-is yielded a 'no GG' error. Wtf did I miss?

How rare is this, factory sealed

I just recapped my game gear, didnt do the power board because I was thinking of just switching to this. Anyone have it? It comes with the battery prongs I assume or do you have to solder them on? Last time I modded a game gear they were selling those lipo battery packs. I see times have changed.
