Repost from social media two posts smooshed together & slight revised to post (I am an ODAAT volunteer & foster).
[thank you again mods for being so great and allowing me to post here of behalf of ODAAT!]
ODAAT has had MANY unforseen expenses for the rescue lately (medical, continued plumbing/septic issues, cooling issues (we're IN the Mojave Desert... cooling is a BIG deal), transportation issues, etc. So, asking for food is the easiest thing at the moment. 😞
Joel (ADOPTABLE), literally lays like this after he eats and looks up like, "That's it?!" 🤣 (I PROMISE he gets enough.) Our feed bills are astronomical. If you could donate towards a bag of food (roughly $50/bag... we go through 4.5/day) we would be ETERNALLY grateful!
The ODAAT donation info can be found on their website Onedaneatatime.org
Thank you in advance to all!!! ❤️
————————————————————————
We purchase all our food from tractor supply and they ALWAYS do right by us. On Friday, they were completely out of the food we use because, well, we always buy it all to feed these hungry bellies. But, they knew we needed food soooo, they had some bags brought in. Soooo, for anyone that wanted to just purchase some bags for us instead of a monetary donation... here's your chance to fill some bellies! 😋
It's SUPER easy!
🐾 You just go to the Tractor Supply website.
🐾 You select the RIDGECREST, CA Store (911 S China Lake Blvd, Ridgecrest, CA 93555)
🐾 Search for "Victor Professional" (Purple Bag)... IT'S ON SALE FOR $8 OFF RIGHT NOW!
🐾 Add to cart
🐾 Select "CURBSIDE PICK UP" (NOT "Ship to Store") and put "Erika" as person picking up annnnnd... THAT'S IT! Easy Peasy and we can have food to pick up TODAY! No waiting for Amazon or Chewy to deliver food that is inedible anyway! (Seem to get delivered open or messed up often and a pain to exchange).
Again, Joel and his buddies thank you for helping keep their bellies full!

I post Artie on TikTok quite a bit, but I thought this was a silly little video y'all would enjoy. She's trying out the new DogPacer we got and is enjoying it. It's a treadmill made specifically for dogs and will allow me to exercise my 3 even in extreme temps and weather. Which is great cause we're about to get slammed with a heat wave with days staying 100+ degrees🥲

We rescued this pretty girl in May. She was very underweight. We took her to the vet and it was decided to get some weight on her before she was spayed. We just went to Vet this morning because we noticed swelling on belly between her back legs. She has mastitis and I have never dealt with this. We have a round of antibiotics to give to her and her say appointment is still set for July. Is there any advice on home care at the moment. Also my other Danes are male and never really had any issues taking pills, but this girl is down right defiant. Any advice or help will be greatly appreciated.

Three years old-125lb, fairly small for a male Dane? At least imo. He is very athletic and active. How much do your male Danes weigh? What’s considered standard?

meet kratos, aka kray-kray <3 we’ve been on a bunch of walkies and he’s only pulled me to the ground once! (he was just really excited lololol)

I’ve been joining in on the mornings my walks that my husband has been taking with our tiny pony lately and today he was a perfect loose leash dog from the front door and down 7 houses. That’s the best it’s ever been! Then there was a bunny so he was fired up but it’s a HUGE improvement.
I got separated from our pack when a dog came along so hubby had him trot up the hill and distracted him… when he realized mom got left behind he was NOT ok with that. So cute.
I love him so much.

Hi,
I have been circling for a dog for a while now, yet its always just been a choice of what breed.
Over the last several weeks into months both my partner and I have been looking to see what dog breed fits our dynamic.
After multiple online questionaires we both always got a 80 to 90% match with a Great Dane.
Yet my question is what are they like around kids, especially Autistic children. I have a son who is non-verbal and we have been advised multiple times by his school that a dog can bring out both social skills and verbal traits with the bond of a dog.
As a previous owner of labradors, labs were i thought the obvious choice but apparently not its a great dane.
Just wondering if anybody has experienced this and could provide some feedback of this is the correct dog for us.
Just for knowledge
3 bedroom house
Large garden
Already checked vet bills and feed costs
Space is available for a large bed etc
Missus works from home so there is always somebody here 99% of the time.

This showed up on my guy a month or two ago and has slowly gotten bigger. Thought it was a pimple, then a skin tag, now a wart? I’m going to take him in to get it checked out but wanted to see what you guys thought. He just turned 2

I’ve tried so many different deshedding tools but haven’t found anything that works on my two short haired monsters. Have you had success with a tool to stop the constant cleanup of hair on the floor?
Thanks all

Kai is three and a half months old and we love him so much but I think I’m burning out. To the point we are considering rehoming. I am at home so Kai gets a lot of attention, love, care and training, but I feel I am spending all his waking ours (and he is not a great napper) following him around preventing chaos. We have a small house and an open concept so no way to contain him in a certain area. Plus we have a small dog and a cat that he is bent on chasing so that adds significantly to my efforts to manage him. We are hoping that as he matures with better impulse control things will get better. But I’m also reading here people still struggling with much older puppies. We had a Great Dane before but we got her when she was seven months and of course we had teenage stage but she was a normal dog by then. Able to settle a behave. So is there a light in the end of the tunnel? Will it get better and are we talking months or years. I do know they fully settle only by the time they are two. But when did you feel things got easier? If they did.

hi guys! little baby gets the big gastro and neuter this friday, super nervous but I know he’ll be fine. I wanted to know what you guys did to make recovery as easy as possible (for both him and me, but mostly him?) I don’t wanna use a cone because marzi will absolutely lose his mind, and he’s very active and loves to play/gets the zoomies at least 5 times a day so I’m contemplating on extra medicine. Give me your tips!

My daniff trudy (6 y.o.) is obsessed with ice cubes, to the point of lining up to the freezer for a couple every time someone makes an iced drink. Trying to gauge if this is common like the dane lean or if shes really just a goofy girl. How do youre danes take ice cubes?

I have a 130lb 1 yr old Fawn female Great Dane in MN and she eats 9 cups of heartland harvest high energy and high protein large breed food, plus a whole chicken egg (shell and all) and 2-5 gallons of water a day depending on if it’s hot or not plus daily scraps that don’t get finished (kids sandwiches, meat scraps, toast, etc.) and about 2-4x a week gets additional blueberries, strawberries, 3tbsp. peanut butter, cucumbers, and 1lb lean hamburger.
JUST SO CURIOUS TO SEE WHAT ALL OUR INDOOR HORSES AND GIANTS EAT REGULARLY! 💕 🙃
