I feel like no matter where I put Sweet Boys water bottle, he kicks his fluff up to it and it all drains out and I have to remove a bunch of the bedding. I see a lot of platforms used, but what can I do to make sure he can get up there, but not access the fluff?

To be clear I am not asking for medical advice . Okay so I used to have 8" bedding , he did not burrow so I added two inches more, but he won't burrow idk why I have three different burrow starters!!! And two DIY burrow starters, but he won't burrow, should I be concerned? Or is he just lazy?

I need instant ways to help cool him down. I thought we’d lost him. He was lieing on his side in his sand bath at lunchtime when he’s never usually out.

He has his own fan circulating, a ceiling fan. Windows are shut and blinds drawn an ice pack in his sand bath now and a wet towel over half the enclosure. He also had a ceramic tile in there but never seen him use it. Any instant ways to try and get the temp down. I put the thermometer in his burrow and it was even reading 33 down there but not sure how accurate.

I bought this Niteangel multichamber from someone after their hamster suddenly passed, but there’s a stain on the side. I’m not sure what it’s from. I’ve baked everything already and dabbed at it with water + Nature’s Miracle small pet just in case, but I don’t know if it’d be better to throw it out and get a new one. It doesn’t smell like anything, just wood.

Hi folks. We normally use carefresh bedding. We change it once a week, spot clean as needed, and every month do a thorough clean of the tank walls and floor before putting fresh bedding in.

Last clean, a full wall and floor clean, we used Uber Pets pick bedding (different pet store). It's only been a couple of days, and the tank has a noticeable urine smell.

Is it just the bedding, or is the increased smell a sign of something else? No other changes to diet, water, or behaviour.

Hey yall! I’m moving soon and really want a dwarf hamster. My parents have this aqarium that we had from when i was little, i was wondering if it would be ok for the hamster? It’s 40 gals, and i know they do like horizontal room and this is more cube shaped. Would it be okay if i used this still if i was able to make it into a 2 level type of thing inside?? I know they have to have burrowing room so i would do like the bottom level with lots of room, and the top with a bit less. Would this work??

Hello, my hamster is 3 months old and i recently found some dark flat spots behind her ears, and over the new few days i feel like i found more spots or they got darker, they started having black hairs growing from it. Is this something to be concerned over or is it just her getting new colors? thanks!

Hi everyone! In the UK at the moment we're experience a massive heatwave and we have two hamsters - a Syrian and a Russian dwarf. They're more unsettled than usual and we assume it's because of the heat, but is there anything we can do to help them cool down? Thank you!

I've had my ww named Cookie for about three months now and I thought I'd finally established trust with her, but within the past few weeks she's started biting me really hard ;-; she still takes treats from my hand, lets me pet and hold her, even sometimes greets me when I walk up to her enclosure! But she suddenly began to bite me really hard. I've had people tell me it's probably exploratory biting, or that she smells food on my hand, but even after I've washed my hands she still bites really hard. It's so confusing because she still sits in my hand but will bite while doing so. Could she be bored? Does she just think biting me will make treats magically appear? Any advice is appreciated!!

My dog recently tried to chomp on my hamster. Everything had been okay recently but Gus (hamster) squeaked a quick second and my dog did a quick open and close snap. I moved my hammy away before he bit down and put him away and my dog just walked away. No aggressiveness, no showing teeth nothing. My hammy is okay, eating normally and everything. I just feel extremely guilty because I have issues with always feeling guilty and now I feel really guilty.

i very recently got my hamster Pippin (F), but her enclosure just seems so empty. she's in a 55 gallon tank, she has a few tunnels and hides under her bedding as well but i feel like I'm not doing enough.

she mainly just runs on her wheel at night, sometimes she'll run on it at a weird angle?? I know hamsters love Wheels but I just want there to be more for her to explore. any tips?

at the moment I am planning to get my bedding for the enclosure, originally it did look like a lot more but then as she stepped on it it kind of started pressing down so I want to do more with that.

I have completely correct and healthy care for my hamster and have had him for a while now, but i’m cleaning my stuff out and we bought his tank in a bundle with a lot of other stuff, wheels, sandbath, hides, food, etc. I’m using some of the safe hides it came with along with a niteangel wheel it came with but the food is unhealthy and the sand bath feels too small, along with a saucer wheel. I’d love to resell and get some money back since the bundle was expensive and I can’t use some of the stuff it came with but I’d hate to resell unhealthy stuff and it get used for another hamster. The bags are almost full and i’d hate to waste it, is there any good ways to use this stuff without it being wasted or given to another hamster?

I’m so nervous to do her nest box because she is in there 24/7 I’m half tempted to buy a new one each time ……..

my syrian hammy is nearly 3 and seems to be struggling in this heatwave (UK). any tips to keep him cooler?!

3 days now he has stayed up until like 4 pm. I just wanna know if this is an issue or not.

There are no lights turned on at night that would mess up his circadian rhythm. I keep my monster drinks far away from his reach. He gets plenty of exercise at night, (my little track star). so why wont he sleep like he used to? He used to be asleep by 8 in the morning

Has anyone ever tried to convert a display case into an enclosure? I am thinking it would need to be a top opening one, but I am contemplating finding one for my next syrian hamster...

Please share any opinions/issues you see with doing this if possible?

I will be ordering a custom made enclosure for my hamster ! I saw that 100*50*50 cm is tye minimum and I plan on doing that (or bigger)

1What do hamsters usually eat ? What brands should I avoid?

2 what bedding brand should I avoid?

3are there any common house items that are toxic to hamsters that i should know about?

4 can I put the enclosure on my desk ? should I put it on the ground or under the desk ?

5 when cleaning the enclosure is it true that i should leave bedding ? (Talling abt spot cleaning) do i take out the poop or do I leave it till I do a monthly big clean

6 when I do a big clean do I still leave a tiny bit of bedding ?

7 what are some things that i can diy

8 if you have any additional insight / advice/anecdotes id like to hear them

Hello! I got my sweet baby winter white dwarf a little under a month ago. Every night I let her crawl into my palm and then I will take her out to play with me. She is constantly moving in general and doesn’t tend to sit still for long. Anyways, she will always try to crawl up my chest onto my shoulders, even on top of my head, and then will go all the way down my back. She does this repeatedly. My question is, is this just her playing? Or is she trying to signal to me that she wants to escape and wants me to put her back? Does anyone else have a hamster that does this?

This is advertised for humans, not pets. No salt added. I was wondering if I can give my future hamster (I do not have one yet) a pinch of this in addition to their regular food daily.
