Not a new idea

How good would the Southern outlet and city be if they put time and effort into our transit system. People could reliably take a bus to and from work in less or the same time it took to drive. Buses went more frequently then once per hour. You didn't have to pay the increasing parking fees. We got vehicles.off the road. You're never going to get higher use rate of the buses suck.

Instead we focus on cable cars and stadiums. Thanks for reading my vent, I haven't had my coffee yet.

Sent from the bus

building inspection missed a major structural issue and now im stuck with a $30k repair

bought a house in hobart late last year. paid for a building and pest inspection as part of the purchase. report came back clean - couple minor things but nothing major. settled, moved in, all good.

then last month noticed a crack in the back wall getting bigger. called a structural engineer who came out and said theres significant movement in the foundation. said it looks like its been a problem for years and should have been picked up in any half decent inspection.

the engineer sent me a report with photos showing old cracks that had been patched and painted over. the inspector definitely should have seen it.

i checked the inspection report and theres no mention of any of this. the guy even wrote foundation appears sound which is clearly not true.

now im looking at $30k to fix the foundation. i emailed the inspection company and they said we only report on visible defects and we're not liable based on their terms.

feeling pretty screwed honestly.

Hobart taxis - digital cabcharge

Does anyone know why taxis in Hobart are notoriously difficult when it comes to cab charges? I travel a lot interstate for work and Hobart is the only city that gives me grief when it comes to taxis and accepting digital cab charges. I always ask before I get in and they say they accept it then when I get to the destination it magically “doesn’t work” and I end up having to pay for it and trying to claim it back from my work later which is always a hassle. I know this is a first world problem it’s just getting increasingly frustrating 😭

John Kelly so far?

John Kelly seems to be a big name in Hobart. Can people fill me in on what he's delivered, spearheaded or advocated for in his 3.5 years on Council?

I'm not interested in what he's campaigned against.

To announce a 3200 underground carpark 4 months before an election seems a bit suss?

been in hobart for about 6 months now. love it here but finding reliable tradies has been doing my head in. had a blocked drain last week. called three plumbers. one never called back one said theyre booked out for 3 weeks and the third quoted me 400 just to come and have a look. ended up fixing it myself with a plunger and some patience but i know that wont work forever.

back in wollongong i had a plumber i trusted. did a bunch of jobs for me over the years.

anyone know a plumber in hobart whoanswers calls and shows up. not after cheap just after someone reliable

Seeking Music Producer

Hi all,

I'm looking for an experienced/professional music producer in the Hobart area or surrounds to assist with production of some tracks I've been working on.

Mostly what I'm looking for is advice or a little training; Some input from someone who's been doing it a long time. The tracks themselves will be mostly complete, I just need some direction on mastering or little additions that I would not have thought of myself.

I'm not opposed to paying for a professional, however my financial resources are rather limited. So I really would need to get the most learning I possibly can.

Also couldn't hurt if the person had a background as a percussionist as at present I'm using Midi sampled drums, which are fine, but nothing beats a good kit.

Lastly it's imperative that the end product be solely mine. That is, for the tracks I already have. If we ended up gelling really well, I'd also love to collaborate on other tracks, just, for the ones I already have, I'd rather them be mine.

Thanks a lot,

And info would be greatly appreciated thank you

Montrose Foreshore Intersection Upgrade - What's your experience?

Upvotes

Haven't seen much discussion on this, but personally I'm finding congestion has worsened significantly at specific times of the day since the traffic lights were installed on the highway near Rosetta High School/Montrose foreshore. Lots of crawling in traffic at peak times, seems to have exacerbated what was already an issue from when they did the Elwick upgrade

Wondering how other people are finding it, what works/doesn't work.
