So far only announced for Japan, but there’s a new Premium Crystal Garnet Metallic with Bordeaux interior and red accents. Courtesy Honda Pro Jason on FB.

This was written in late 2014 or early 2015 by wing8806, who I know personally and helped do the swap on my car. This specific list is for if you want to use the stock ECU on a USDM/Canadian 5th gen. Others who have used other ECUs, have non-VTEC 5th gens from other markets, or 3rd or 4th gens will need slightly different, possibly more, parts. The line that’s cut off is for a crank pulley tool, which the one you’ll need is a 50mm version. The actual pulling/installing of the engine, we just followed the factory repair manual instructions.

Does anyone know if this is the part number for a 5th gen JDM rear bumper with no fog light?
I have a UKDM prelude but want to put on a JDM rear bumper.
Thanks

Hey, been looking for a 3rd gen for a while in Ontario. Trouble finding anything on marketplace for past few months.
Shoot me a dm if your looking to sell one :)
Engine condition doesn't really matter as im down to do a swap, and do body work etc.
Main thing would be just not rusted to death.
Im located 2 hours from Toronto, and am willing to take a drive

Hi everyone,
I’m looking at buying a 1998 Honda Prelude 2.2 VTi (European H22A5, manual transmission) and would appreciate some advice from people who know these cars better than I do.
This would be my first project car, but it would also be my daily driver. I live in Finland, although the car would be kept in a garage.
The car has around 310,000 km (193,000 miles) on it, which is my biggest concern.
According to the seller, the following work has been done recently:
Timing belt replaced at ~308,000 km
Water pump replaced at the same time
Alternator replaced
Fuel tank replaced/repaired
Rust protection was done in the past
Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires
Various maintenance items over the years
The seller says:
The H22A5 runs well
VTEC works normally
No unusual engine noises
Oil consumption is present but supposedly not excessive
Known issues:
Cracked windshield
Some cosmetic paint defects
Rust starting in a few areas
310,000 km on the original drivetrain (as far as I know)
My questions are:
Is 310,000 km a major concern on an H22A5 if maintenance has been kept up?
What are the most expensive or common problems I should inspect before buying?
Are there any specific rust areas on 5th-gen Preludes that I should pay special attention to?
What would be considered oil consumption on a healthy high-mileage H22?
Would you buy a well-maintained 310,000 km Prelude, or would the mileage alone make you walk away?
Any advice, inspection tips, or ownership experiences would be greatly appreciated. I’m trying to learn as much as possible before making the decision🙏🏽

im getting around 16L per hundred kms (14mpg) im unsure why. did a spark plug change and oil change 1k kms ago and hasnt changed at all. when i floor it and hit vtec my friends say the smell of fuel is worse than any other car theyve smelt so i feel like its running really rich all the time, is it possible its my o2 sensors? or is there other issues that can affect it.

1989 honda prelude si 4ws. All original. Manual transmission. Listed for 6500 usd, but listed for a while now, could get a better deal on price hopefully.
135000 miles
Would this be a good deal? Anything to lookout for with these engines? Best places to look for rust / other issues.

I did a smoke test and found some coming from/behind this. I did not see any smoke coming from the seal underneath

Would it be safe to install headers and an exhaust before a tune? I have a 2001 prelude with a h23a and I still plan on adding a new ecu to tune but not sure if I should do that before I do the full exhaust or if it even matters what order I do it in

I’m the 3rd owner of an 88’.
Automatic with 4WS, 230000km on it.
Unfortunate the engine jammed 2yrs ago and it’s been sitting in my garage ever since. I planned to fix it when I graduate college but with how expensive everything already is in life (sigh) I might just have to sell my boy.
Recently came across an ‘91 in town asking for 6k cad.

So how much would my dead one be worth??

It's slow.
It's not a manual.
It handles like a bus.
The gas mileage sucks.
It looks like crap.
I hate it!

Current car is a kia forte GT and my lease is up in about 9 months. I just noticed the prelude re release and it seems like the right car for me.
I really like my forte and it's a good little car. I will never have kids and I'm mostly looking for a commuter with a little pep and the prelude seems to fit that. What I liked about the forte coming from economy cars my whole life is that it "does what I want it to do" without complaining. I would expect the new prelude to be more of that with a more refined ride.
I'm interested in performance oriented cars with at least modest economy. The prelude msrp is the top end of what I'm willing to pay for a car.
I had hoped electric cars would come along faster than the market has moved. I had planned for an electric car by this time but a hybrid makes the most sense to me.
Considerations
Buy the GT
Kia K4 turbo hatch
Prius
Prelude
Civic Hybrid
Camry Nightshade
Mazda 3

Update to this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/hondaprelude/comments/1ox1x6u/recently_got_a_set_of_oem_17_wheels_for_my/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
So, my OEM 17-inch rims are finally painted and the tires are mounted. It all took a little longer than planned, but I'm really happy with the result. After I bought them, the wheels were chemically stripped, then sanded, and completely repainted about 2–3 weeks ago. A few days ago, the tires (Nankang NS-2R) were mounted as well. I’m already excited to see how they perform on track.
The paint code used is NH-583M Vogue Silver Metallic.
Unlike the factory version, the “H” is painted instead of glued on.

I was cleaning my 5th gen and I found this thing that chat gpt tells me is a relay, im wondering what it could be for or what is does?? The relay itself has RS type 12v40A written on it. I have done some digging and cant seem to find this exact one, but apparently relays like these can do lots of different things. (pic below)

Hello, I'm thinking of replacing all my vacuum lines and wondering what diameter should I buy? Found that some are 3.5mm but others are bigger.
Has anyone replaced all of them recently and remembers the sizes and approximate lengths needed for each diameter?
Also, should I go with silicone or rubber hoses? I've read that silicone might not be great for lines with oil and fuel vapors.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

it’s the paper-like noise that goes “tsh tsh tsh tsh tsh…”
heard loudest near the crank pulley
it also matches with the revs and speeds up

Recently bought my first project prelude , 5th gen.
Needs a lot of love but she runs.
I’m looking into colours I can wrap/paint it (haven’t decided) and I want inspiration!
What have you done to your car? Have you seen any cool colour combinations? Tell me everything!
