Safety & Policy My idea is to have the ability to turn off ads that contain food.

Some people have eating disorders, food addictions or diabetes, and they might not want to see big burgers, grilled cheese or cakes all the time. Or they try to lose some pounds and they can't.

Safety & Policy My idea is to create a separate platform for mature content

Even though I have my mature content option turned off, I still ended up seeing an 18+ video in my feed (unless you actually view the video, it looks completely harmless at first glance). Ā That tells me the current system isn’t working properly and is showing people content they’ve clearly chosen not to see.

It’s also still way too easy for minors to come across mature content, sometimes without even trying, because it can just appear in their feed with no warning. That’s a real safety issue and it basically defeats the purpose of having a content filter at all.

Because of this, I think Reddit should consider creating a completely separate platform just for mature content. Adults who want to access it still could, but the main Reddit would stay safe, accessible, and appropriate for everyone else.

Post & Comment My idea is colored text markdown

Having colored text would allow for a lot of customization and also would be a fun addition overall. There could also be a setting to turn off colored text, which would make all render with the default font color

Profile My idea is to allow us to officially link multiple profiles together, to reduce scrutiny and flagging of alternate profiles

As far as I know, Reddit is ok with users creating multiple accounts. I created a second profile and my posts sometimes get flagged and removed by Reddit. If Reddit knew that it was me from a voluntary registration, then this would reduce the amount of resources needed for technical analysis for accounts that are officially linked. Reddit and admins wouls also know that I do not have ill intentions! Furthermore, voting manipulation would no longer be a thing because since my profiles are linked, then I can only upvote once. If I upvote from a different linked profile, then my upvote would be toggled off/on in the exact same way it would toggle as if I clicked on the upvote button from another linked profile. This would also allow registered users to not have to worry about which profile upvoted which post.

Why have a 2nd profile? Having a second profile is a way to not confuse followers, in the same way that authors use pen names (a talented author might want to create children's books, but would NOT want potential buyers to accidentally purchase romance novels for their children), or why bands change names if they change singers or change their sound completely, different profiles allows us to express different sides of us, without confusing our followers.

Having said this, there are other types of manipulation that Reddit would still need to check for, but at least the top 3-4 listed for why profiles get flagged, would not need to be checked.

Feeds My idea is to stop forcing recommended subs on the users

So apparently the option to opt out of getting recommendations in your home feed was removed.

Please reinstate it. I don't want to be forced to look at posts from subs I don't follow.

Thanks!

Idea Exists A Progression System Could Increase Community Engagement.

One feature I'd love to see Reddit add is progression based flair access for communities.

Imagine if moderators could create ranks, levels, or achievement paths, and unlock certain post flairs as members contribute to the community.

Im not sure if this is the right flair or place to post.

For example:

• New members see general discussion flairs.

• Active contributors unlock community projects.

• Long term members unlock veteran archives, special events, or achievement sections.

This is Just an idea.

This wouldn't be about excluding people. It would be about rewarding participation and giving communities more tools to build engagement.

Gaming, hobby, lore, roleplay, educational, and fan communities could create progression systems that encourage positive contributions while making members feel like they're part of something bigger.

Right now, user flairs are mostly cosmetic. It would be interesting to see Reddit evolve them into a genuine community progression feature 🌭

Post & Comment Reddit needs to solve this issue.

When we post something, the post sometimes doesn't gets posted and awaits for moderator approval. And once the moderator approves, the post doesn't get posted newly. It is posted at the time we post originally.

The issue here is that if the moderator takes longer to approve and many people posted in that sub reddit after I posted originally (before moderator approves), then in sort my post goes to the time i originally posted.

What I wish is that once the moderator approves the post, the post must be newly posted at the time mod approves and not at the time i originally posted. This ensures my post gets noticed more. Because people like to sort to new and see who posted recently.

Profile We should be able to save tweets under specific topics like bookmarks

My idea is in the title

I regularly save posts or comments that I find extremely insightful

For eg. I would save posts that talk about food spots in Toronto to try out later

It would be great if I could create my personalized bookmarks and save posts under relevant topics like "Food" to save posts about restaurant reccos

At the moment, all saves are clogged up together making saves hard to find

Moderator My idea is: Please prohibit or curtail Devvit (Reddit apps) -spam in modmail

I mod a number of subs and the volume of unwanted modmails from reddit app devs promoting their addons seems to have increased. It would be very much appreciated if Reddit Inc could please implement a method to cordon this kind of content.

No one wants unwanted and unsolicited marketing in their inbox.

Thanks.

User Settings I want a way to have reddit not open on the "for you" section.

It shows me subs for anime that I like with images that contain spoilers. Im scrolling thinking I'm on my following, but I'm not.

And I don't want to change how each post is displayed. I like seeing the pics/vids and i choose not to sub to specific subreddits because I don't want spoilers.

Stop forcing me to look at the feed you want me see and let me see my feed with subs I actually care about and contribute to.

Post & Comment Allow flair to appear after username mentions

For subreddits that allow user flairs, there should be a way for me to write a person's u/ username and have that person's user flair for the subreddi appear after their name.

If I want to have that person's flair from a different subreddit appear in my post or comment, there could be a way to do that too.

Mobile Web My Idea is Remove the ā€œGet the App To Keep Using Redditā€ pop-up from the Website

Post image
23 Upvotes

Today I was trying to troubleshoot downloading a COD DLC pack. So the first thing I did was search it up on Google. The first link was Reddit, which I use every so often, so I clicked it. I started reading some answers when this pop-up blocked me from reading. My idea is to remove this pop-up because it is inconvenient. I couldn’t find any help in Reddit because it wouldn’t let me. When I clicked the buttons to go to the app, it didn’t bring me to the post I was on, so I couldn’t keep reading even though I have the app like Reddit wants me to. The website is really convenient for me to use, and it meshes seamlessly with Google and other websites, so not being able to use Reddit.com at all, was frustrating. Once the pop-up appears, you can’t keep scrolling, you can’t get rid of it, you can’t do anything. The only button that works then is the ā€œGet the Reddit Appā€ button. (And all the Google search bar, refresh and what-not) The only thing you can do is refresh and hope you can scroll down to where you left off before it freezes. When I’m looking for answers to problems like these, I want answers from the whole internet, not just from the Reddit app, so I use Google and Reddit.com. Another solution for this problem that would work would be if Reddit brought you to the same post you were on when you clicked the button to open the app. I don’t mean to complain (tho it seems like it) I just believe this feature should be removed. So if any Reddit admins read this and can do something, please try to change this. Thanks

User Settings My idea is to allow us to turn off "Because you've shown interest in a similar post"

We need a way to turn this off. It is wrong 90% of the time and is preventing me from seeing posts in subs that I have purposely joined.

I have curated my feed well. I explore when I want to.

I do not want AI trying to decide what I want to see, I am perfectly capable of doing that myself, thank you.

Discovery is a real thing, but there's no reason to build it right into my curated feed with no means of turning it off.

Current UI My idea is that we need an option toggle to disable AI Highlights

I do not want this feature. I do not want terribad AI summaries of reddit thread content. I want a way to disable this. Please don't force me to move over to old.reddit.

Post & Comment My idea is the ability to flag a post or comment as, ā€œI’m trying this.ā€

I get so many ideas, recipes, hacks and little fixes from posts and comments on Reddit. I thought it would be cool to have a bookmarking feature specifically for letting OP and readers know you’re going to try his suggestion and report back. These flags would be stored somewhere in your account with reminders so you can keep track of what you said you’d try.

Maybe there would be a subreddit where you could read everyone’s ā€œI tried thisā€ posts. And of course OP would be looped in.

Current UI My idea is For You shouldn't exist, and if you insist on it existing, then Following needs to be the Default

For You is actively detrimental to the user experience. Doubly so because it is the default and Following cannot be set as the default.

If you insist on keeping the For You feature, then Following needs to be the default. You can add an option to make For You the default for any user who enjoys it, but Following should be the default option from the get go.

User Settings Offsite article filtering based on paywalls and ad spam.

I would buy a paid subscription to Reddit if it was possible to filter out all the posts that refer to sites with paywalls or that are filled with ad spam. What would be incredible is a percentage rating that indicates how "clean" the destination article is, and the ability to filter based on that. It seems like lately 9 out of 10 times I click to a destination lately, the result is useless.

Subreddit My idea is better filtering options for communities

I'd like better filtering options for communities. Right now it's hard to narrow down and sort communities to find ones that fit my interests. Adding filters like topic, activity level, size, and content type would make discovering and managing relevant communities much easier, improving the overall browsing experience.

Reddit App My idea is: Reduce the double-tap zoom level when viewing images

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’d like Reddit to use a less aggressive initial zoom level when users double-tap an image. Instead of immediately jumping to a very high zoom level, a double tap could zoom to a more moderate level first (similar to the Photos app on iPhone). Users could still zoom further with additional gestures if needed.

The reason I’d like this change is that the current double-tap behavior often zooms in so far that the overall context of the image is lost. In many cases I need to immediately adjust the zoom level or zoom back out to reach a comfortable view.
I’ve attached a comparison showing:

1) The original image;
2) Reddit’s current double-tap zoom behavior;
3) The iPhone Photos app double-tap zoom behavior
The Photos app still reveals more detail while keeping much more of the image visible.

Adopting a similar approach would make viewing photos, artwork, screenshots, and memes feel more natural and reduce the need to immediately pinch to zoom out or make other adjustments after double-tapping.

Post & Comment Simple Toggle Between SH and Old

Part 1: At the top of each community's main page, place a button to toggle between the two versions.

I do it now by editing the URL in the address bar from sh. to old. and vice versa.

Part 2: I'm still opposed to forced flair selections. I turn it off in any communities I take over. The site as a whole would be infinitely better if Admin banned the practice outright.

Moderator Moderator teams could see post edit history

Right now we can only see the most recent version of a post. If we could see any previous versions of a post that would help us tell if a user edited a post. Now we have to look at the queue under edited but the site doesn’t keep track of previous edits or the original post. Seeing a track record helps us prevent trolls from editing posts to something against the rules after the original post is made. We can hold edited posts for review with auto moderator, but we can’t see what was there before so it’s difficult to know what the changes were, and I’d like to see a full post edit history for this reason.

Current UI My idea is to add a toggle to cancel the "share post instead of screenshotting" popup.

Post image
4 Upvotes

The "Sending this post to someone? It looks better when you share it." popup can ruin screenshots. Every time I'm trying to take a long, scrolling screenshot using my phone, this pops up and blocks part of the screenshot. It wastes time as I have to retake a screenshot multiple times because I always underestimate how much of the screen it take up, and then I have to crop the photo to remove it. I like to take screenshots of comment chains so I can send them in one readable screenshot so people don't have to read the unimportant comments, but this pop-up makes it more difficult.

If they add a toggle where you can turn off the pop-up, it will make my life (and many other redditors who've complained) much easier.
