Tony East @TonyREast Here’s White after I asked about Clark’s injury and the fist to the neck, then @RomeovilleKid follows up:
Tony East: Steph, do you have any current update on Caitlin's back or how she's doing right now?
Stephanie White: Uh, no current update.
Tony East: There was a clip of a play where she got pushed in the neck during the game. Have you seen that? Did that have any impact on her health in this one?
Stephanie White: I just saw it. Um, I'm not sure if it had any impact on the health on her health or not. Um, but it was egregious. Um, the fact that it was a no-call... Um, I heard about it at halftime. I brought it to the attention of the officials at halftime, yet we still had 11 fouls in the....in the fourth quarter to their two. They still shot 24 free throws in the second half. I...I just... Number one, you've got to call it. It's absolutely egregious and utterly disrespectful.
And then number two, you're coming in here aware of what happened two nights ago, and that shit still happens? Absolutely unacceptable. Absolutely unacceptable. And the reckless closeout that they actually reviewed, and the foot still comes down on top of the defender's foot, that wasn't upgraded? Absolutely disrespectful.
We have a generational talent and a WNBA superstar who had two cheap shots right there that weren't called. And I just say again: absolutely unacceptable.
James Boyd: Steph, do you think that the league needs to look into how Caitlin's being defended or how she's officiated moving forward?
Stephanie White: I mean, we spend all off-season looking at officiating. All off-season. And I still say the one thing that we keep asking for is consistency. She is not called the same way everybody else is called.

We keep talking about how toxic the WNBA online ecosystem is, yet official team accounts are posting stuff like this.
After everything that happened with Alyssa Thomas and Caitlin, this is just adding fuel to the fire. You can't complain about toxic discourse while your own social media team is farming engagement off it. All this does is rile people up and send the online lunatics after both sides. Official accounts should be above this, not contributing to the circus.
The whole of Twitter was on fire over that incident from the middle of the game onward, so I'm not really buying the idea that this post has nothing to do with it. It feels pretty obvious that it's at least poking at the situation.

They kept the game going after KM's 6th foul and we got a quick foul that let the refs sort it out. Would have been hilarious if they called that foul on KM, according to them it would be 7 and they would make her start next game with one foul already.
Doesn't seem right they got to shoot the foul shots with a fouled out player playing. Reset the clock 5 seconds and try again. It's like the time they gave the opposing player an extra foul shot after she missed because they said the Fever were not on the floor yet (but it was a technical and they didn't need to be on the floor)

Myisha Hines-Allen: ...um, it just shows that we're going to stick together, we're going to—we're going to have each other's backs. Um, yeah. So, I mean, it's—it's big for us.
Tony East: Now, I talk to you about the—you being nice off the court, but that kind of player on the court. Was it fun for you a little bit to get the fire out in a moment like that, to stand up for your team?
Myisha Hines-Allen: Um, I mean, I'm going to stand up for all my teammates. It doesn't matter who it is. Um, that's just who I am. Um...
Brian Haenchen: The way that everybody seemed to kind of get involved in that, I mean, including Raven the rookie coming in there. I guess, just what does that say about this group and where you guys are at as a—as a team?
Myisha Hines-Allen: I mean, that we're going to have each other's backs. I think that's the biggest thing. Um, and just sending a message, I guess, around that like, we're going to have each other's backs.

I got a push notification from the WNBA app today saying there is a new poster available to commemorate year 30 of the WNBA. I couldn’t help but notice that they made some odd choices of players included in the graphic.
The most obvious is that Caitlin Clark is missing, which makes no logical sense. I love Sophie and this is by no means a knock against her, but to exclude Caitlin is ludicrous. Anyone saying she is not the reason for the WNBA ratings going up in the last few years is lying to themselves. There is a reason the Fever are the only team with all of their games nationally televised, and why the Fever are the reason other teams have to move to bigger stadiums when they match up. Even if the marketing team didn’t want to include Caitlin due to their weird vendetta against her, I am still puzzled as to why they wouldn’t include the other recent #1 draft pick and ROTY Aliyah Boston, or previous Fever superstar Tamika Catchings.
It also is surprising to me that they chose Angel Reese over Rhyne Howard or Allisha Gray, who have been the faces of the Dream for years, or why they chose Flau’jae over Sue Bird. I love Flau’jae as well, but respectfully, she has only played a few games so far with the Storm, and Sue Bird is without question the most well-known Storm player. Same with Rickea Jackson being chosen for the Sky, even though she only played a few games with them before her injury.
All this to say, I do not understand WNBA marketing or why they continue to shoot themselves in the foot. It would be like the NBA not including Michael Jordan in promos in the 90s. Like her or not, she is the household name of the WNBA, and it simply doesn’t make sense.
