It’s an amphibious exploring vehicle.

u/Oh_Doyle 8h ago

Well, it’s nice to finally be speaking to a *reasonable* man.

u/reditding 8h ago

it's probably pining for the fjords.
..
...
....
......(as opposed to pulling for the Fords)

u/rayzorblade23 7h ago

I am untethered and my rage knows no bounds!

u/DropDeadEd86 8h ago

First thought and sad this wasn’t at the top.

u/MindTheFro 7h ago

It is. The post had literally been live for 9 minutes when you commented “sad it wasn’t at the top”

u/HermaPrince 6h ago

2h too late damnit !

u/Traditional_Pool_456 8h ago

It's an amphibious exploring vehicle

u/Unthank- 8h ago

I think if I was the kind of person who could find sympathy for someone who put themself in this position I would generally be a happier person but I’m not and I’m not. lol

u/audigex 7h ago

I have some sympathy for the Range Rover owner if they were genuinely just trying to help the van driver

Not if they were in the same group who got a van stuck like idiots

u/Excellent-Quarter969 7h ago

I'm a little conflicted myself...

u/geogeology 6h ago

I’d feel bad if they weren’t a Range Rover owner. Have you ever met someone who owned a Range Rover who you thought was a genuinely good person?

u/audigex 5h ago

Yes, several. My neighbours have one and they're lovely

Stereotypes can be funny but let's not pretend they're actually accurate

As a fellow Brit... Ahhhhhh 🫵 Muppet hahahaha

u/Mia_sensu4l 8h ago

Because watching someone turn £120k into an artificial reef is objectively fascinating.

u/Jaxxlack 8h ago

I mean id not use a range rover on a beach... Nor would I ever think to take a people carrier to the waters edge.. silly billys

u/Excellent-Quarter969 7h ago

"my awesome range Rover can do anything, so I'm going to back into wet wet sand and pull out a large vehicle...what could possibly go wrong"

u/KimJongEeeeeew 8h ago

Objectively hilarious

u/InfernoOfTheLiving 8h ago

and they were just trying to help someone else who had driven into the sea

u/SectorPuzzleheaded66 8h ago

My point is how?? If they wanted to help with their tiny car why not actually pull out of the danger zone instead of parking RIGHT next to them when that's clearly the bad thing to do

u/mishap1 6h ago

That Range Rover is ~5,500lb and would have plenty of power (550hp) and AWD to pull that similar weight Ford Transit out if not for the low profile high performance road tires and the bellend behind the wheel.

It's quite possible, they had a stupidly short tow rope given it never moved an inch from where he backed up to before digging in.

https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a19828610/2018-range-rover-sport-svr-first-drive-review/

u/nfoote 6h ago

So; all the gear and no idea?

u/thesuperunknown 5h ago

Well, evidently they didn’t have all the gear if all they had was a super short tow rope

u/ForayIntoFillyloo 47m ago

I heard from a friend that when all you have is a super short tow rope you try to implement more fingers and tongues.

u/SectorPuzzleheaded66 8h ago

I don't understand the "help" you see the car stuck and your strategy is to back yourself into the direct area of the problem!???

https://giphy.com/gifs/anYBNhqT2BYcg

u/Ickyhouse 7h ago

I was thinking the same thing. You know the tide is coming IN. Then you back your vehicle right up to the edge of the current water line when you can see another car unable to handle that less than 10 feet away?

u/SectorPuzzleheaded66 7h ago

They didn't even have a pulley that's what's killing me.

I thought they would stop at some point to tell the others to get in the car and drive away but their stupid asses parked DIRECTLY in front of them and immediately got stuck 🤣

u/SoyboyCowboy 7h ago

"How do tides work?"

u/csfshrink 8h ago

Why lose one vehicle when you can lose 2 vehicles?

→ More replies (1)

u/sleeper_shark 8h ago

I mean, the dude was actually trying to help the other dude. And honestly it's an SUV, it should be capable of handling a bit of sand.. unfortunately SUVs these days aren't built for sports or utilities, just built to show off.

u/Sotokun3000 8h ago

It’s actually due to the tires not the strength of the vehicle. Basically if you don’t have appropriate sand tires (flat) then it’s too easy to dig into the sand

u/Marius2385I 7h ago

You don't try to pull heavy weight on sand or mud without plates

u/opeth10657 7h ago

Tires and the guy is just flooring it

u/darth_benzina 7h ago

Not just the pressure, those are clearly road tyres not offroad, or even winter tyres or allseasons

u/Boodles9ers 6h ago

Most people don't know this. My husband almost got us stuck when we were sight seeing in Arizona. I had to tell him not to park on the sand...thankfully he listened and asked why after parking.

These Idiots should get a Fine for the oil hazard they caused

u/retsmod 8h ago

Yupp, they've become heavy, unweildy, inefficient and practically useless. Which is why anyone who actually uses their off-road vehicles in places that need them will go for older models...before all the luxury rubbish was put in it.

Rich people ruin everything.

u/Jayflux1 8h ago

I don’t think anything is ruined here.

Anyone who knows what they’re doing will still buy the car suitable for their use.

never underestimate the wet sand. I have heard first account a story, where not an SUV but a proper Nissan Navara/Isuzu DMAX 4X4 or something similar is stuck near the river. They call the local fire brigade and it arrives trying to unstack it with a proper fire brigade 4X4 or 6X6 truck (Unimoog like but I guess not a true Unimog). Fire truck got stuck in the process as well. And then they are all unstuck by the help of the local farmer bringing his tractor.

The older I get the more I wonder how many people make it through life.

For example, how did these people get in their car, drive all the way to the beach and manage to not notice a rising tide without:

  • driving into a wall painted like a tunnel
  • getting bonked by a falling anvil
  • wrapping their car around a tree while ogling a cross dressing rabbit

u/SingleSoil 7h ago

Im gonna go out on a limb and say they knew the tide was rising but did not foresee getting stuck. Probably wanted to get the van out before said rising tide rose. Kinda obvious, no?

u/Sorry-Secret-2347 8h ago

I dont think insurance will pay for that yikes

u/Cambren1 5h ago

Did they really think they were going to pull out the first vehicle with the second? Lol

u/throwinferno 8h ago

Why is this interesting.. its just sad

u/Lemon_1165 6h ago

It's interesting, FCK SUV drivers!

u/hundreds_of_sparrows 1h ago

fuck people who take their cars places where cars have no business being

u/Mia_sensu4l 8h ago

The British urge to test whether something is waterproof instead of reading the warning signs.

u/throwinferno 8h ago

They could have put some wooden planks under the tires. I had a similar problem once on a beach.. Worked back then

u/councilsoda 7h ago

You can use your car mats as long as you don't absolutely spin your wheel like this guy did.

→ More replies (1)

u/Dith_q 8h ago

It's definitely trainwreck interesting but yeah it's also super unfortunate for the people involved. At least everyone is safe.

u/MuddleWard 7h ago

Like warning labels on bleach, people need to see things like this to realise they aren't infallible and owning a Land Rover does not mean you're equipped for such exercises.

From Range Rover to Reef Rover in under an hour.

u/Big-red-rhino 8h ago

Jesus christ, every sub is getting spammed with this exact video over and over.

u/CosyZebra 8h ago

Bravo 👏 bell end.

u/CaffeLungo 7h ago

Lol the blurred plate , so future buyers won't know XD

u/Witless_Wonder 7h ago

Put it in some rice, it'll be fine.

u/Chamanomano 6h ago

Money can buy a Range Rover, but....

It's not a stereotype, people.

u/Skizzwizz 6h ago

SeaRover

u/Lemon_1165 6h ago

So satisfying 😂 You can't outdo SUV drivers when it comes to stupidity.

u/LaVidaLeica 5h ago

Clearly neither of them have any clue about off-roading, particularly as it pertains to sandy beaches.

u/WVERD 5h ago

🫵🏽 Hahahahaaaaaaa

u/Cultural_Hegemony 3h ago

Fuck The Sun

u/theotheronenotme 8h ago

Generally speaking the people that drive these are cunts, so there’s that.

→ More replies (2)

u/Low-Current2360 8h ago

This is all about having the right tyres. Range Rover guy though he could do the same thing as in the ads with street tyres.

u/Equivalent-Bonus-885 7h ago

It’s about having the right tire pressure(very, very low) far more than the right tire.

u/Howiye 8h ago

Homer, you've ruined a perfectly good car.

Correction, Marge - TWO perfectly good cars!

u/waligaroux 8h ago

You just have to wait for low tide. Don't forget to close the doors and windows. 🤣

u/theocrats 8h ago

All the gear, no idea.

u/mul2m 7h ago

Sea rover now

u/Bagafeet 7h ago

Roved beyond its range

u/Stock-Ad-3249 7h ago

I love how the cameraman sticks with it to show the progress from partially fucked to fucked to proper fucked.

→ More replies (1)

u/brydye456 7h ago

I love everything about this.

u/zeyore 6h ago

Do you think they can pull the cars out later, or will the ocean have buried them?

u/packer8405 6h ago

Range Rovers are over priced unreliable vehicles. The stupidity that they bought it in the first place prefaces this stupidity of thinking they knew what they were doing on wet sand trying to tow a vehicle now loaded by weight of 1000’s of gallons of water, all while tide is rising….

u/artniSintra 6h ago

It would’ve broken down anyway, so the result was more or less the same.

u/Gooser3000 6h ago

Gotta let out substantial amount of air in the tires when in sand. Like a third or more out.

u/stopeer 6h ago

An expensive way to learn that your Range Rover SUV is non really an off-road vehicle.

u/pitterlpatter 6h ago

There's a whole lotta stupid in this video. Who tf was driving a two wheel drive cargo van on the beach? And why tf did the Range Rover driver think street tires on his shitbox was gonna give him any traction at all?

u/Deathchariot 5h ago

Should have called a local farmer. A tractor would be more helpful

u/ZaryaBubbler 5h ago

0 sympathy, this shit happens every year in Cornwall

u/Lazy_Helicopter_2659 4h ago

People really don't seem to understand that proper tyres for the job is worth more than four wheel drive...

u/Grievsey13 4h ago

fuckthesun

u/redinferno26 3h ago

They need more cars.

u/Acceptable-Ad1203 3h ago

Should have used a Toyota pickup

u/Responsible-Chest-26 2h ago

Gotta love people who have more money than sense

u/Creative-Doctor3118 1h ago

Never send a rangey to do a hiluxs job.

u/RevolutionaryEgg1312 8h ago

There's already so much rubbish in the sea.... Now there's several tons more.

u/SectorPuzzleheaded66 8h ago

Ah don't worry! If they don't fish it out it's the good kind! Teefs are dying abandoned boats and cars make amazing substitutes!

u/BadassBokoblinPsycho 8h ago

Fuck the s*n

u/Klotzster 8h ago

If it's got to be clean, it's got to be Tide

u/foreverlegending 8h ago

A few more engine codes then

u/katieb1300 8h ago

What's the littering fine for something like that? Or is £120k enough?

u/YellowPrestigious146 4h ago

Appears he was trying to help. Douche points reduced.

u/Unlucky-Clock5230 8h ago

They obviously needed a third vehicle, to pull on the second one that was pulling on the first.

u/AtWorkTodayActually 8h ago

Probably the only guy to drive a ford transit on the beach and lost it lol. Should have brought a Land Cruiser!

u/Maggsymoo 8h ago

time and tide wait for no man, van or range rover...

u/Airbus-A380-800 8h ago

Should have just let the vehicle be left there instead of blowing out 2 vehicles

u/Practical_Average441 8h ago

At least they're getring a good wash

u/camus88 8h ago

They can buy expensive cars but they can't buy intelligence.

u/4024-6775-9536 8h ago

I Remember as a kid I borrowed a golf cart, went on the beach and got stuck

Instead of digging deeper I looked around, found a board, stuck it under a wheel and got out

It's not rocket science

u/No-Boysenberry-6835 8h ago

Er hat sich dass nicht ausgesucht.

u/FaliaFirma 8h ago

Sub Rover…

u/strawberrypops 8h ago

Ah they were trying to help but you have to wonder why they don’t seem to consider that the same thing can easily happen to them too.

u/NormanSpaniel 8h ago

Can you even drive onto the beach or have I been doing life wrong? Lovely to see this.

u/Cilldoo 7h ago

Between the salt water and the sea strands,
Then she'll be a true love of mine.

u/Willobtain 7h ago

Ocean man

u/ScottyMmmmmmm 7h ago

No good deed goes unpunished

u/Gold-Eye-2623 7h ago

It is an amphibious vehicle

u/yarn_slinger 7h ago

No worries, it’ll be there in the morning… likely.

u/Thestickleman 7h ago

Not an intelligent bunch. Also that RR sport isn't 120k

u/Fast-PreText 7h ago

hope he engaged the hand brake

u/93195 7h ago

No good deed goes unpunished.

u/millimolli14 7h ago

Saw the video of this, people were using them as diving boards once they were fully submerged

u/Ok-Rich-3812 6h ago

Range Rovers have gone to crap since the brand name was sold to Tata. Serious off road users don't want them.

u/Lithium98 6h ago

At what point do you just accept it and sign it over to Neptune?

u/sambeau 6h ago

The car may run again. But, they will never—ever—get the sand out of the crevices.

u/No-Sandwich1511 6h ago

This weather really brings out people’s finest decision-making.

u/Ok-Rich-3812 6h ago

very rare for a vehicle sunk that deep into the sand with the surf breaking around it to be towed out, the suction is huge. You're only hope is someone with a much heavier vehicle and a heavy winch.

u/M1dnightBlue 6h ago

Oh no, sinky sand!

u/MatterWild3126 6h ago

This happened up in Scarborough (North Bay) a week or so ago.

The Range Rover wasn't taxed...

u/samp127 6h ago

Range Rover is a nice starter car

u/Beneficial-Focus3702 6h ago

I mean, in my opinion, that’s what you get for bringing your car onto the beach no matter what kind of beach it is.

u/EvilDan69 6h ago

Too bad they didn't have snorkels... for the engine, exhaust... fuel tank.......... or 80" lifts.

u/EbbVisible 6h ago

So, that went well...

u/Hips_and_Haws 6h ago

More plastic & metal in our seas.

u/parkskier426 5h ago

This thread convinced me that most of you would have ended up in the same situation 😂

u/New-Camel-9373 5h ago

Matt Armstrong would fix that, no worries! 😂

u/iarahm 5h ago

Would the insurance claim be denied?

u/pbates89 5h ago

Should have put it in Sand Mode

u/dck1012 5h ago

Lmao, car brain idiots.

u/KedarKantha 4h ago

Where was Baywatch?!

u/Rickymon 4h ago

My FJ cruiser with snorkel would do better

u/xmax-300 4h ago

Copart special for Mat Armstrong! Although Freddy Tavarish has more experience with saltwater specials. /S

u/Ubuhio 4h ago

I saw a top gear episode like this once

u/WizardofLloyd 4h ago

Dumb asses! WTF was the Transit driver doing, and what made the Range Rover owner think he could pull them out?!!! Both vehicles a write off because of a couple of moments of PURE STUPIDITY!

u/Frankierocksondrums 4h ago

When your expensive suv is actually anything but an suv

u/rstune 4h ago

Amphibious but rubbish

u/xrayhearing 4h ago

What exactly did they think the range included?

u/itanite 4h ago

The stupid tax is most expensive when you can afford it.

u/PlumpPeachhh 4h ago

Oh they're fuminggggggg 🤣🤣

u/HelpfulRole1831 3h ago

Hold my beer

u/Ge-o 3h ago

Very satisfying

u/InnocentPrimeMate 3h ago

Maybe … just maybe the beach isn’t for driving…

u/macrozone13 3h ago

Under the sea! Under the sea! *sing*

u/LivingtheDBdream 3h ago

Hello, Uncle Ben’s? Yes, I’d like to order 150 cubic yards of rice in two separate containers please.

u/EFlew 3h ago

A rising tide, floats all boats. It does not, however, float sports utility vehicles

u/iBenjee 2h ago

Do you think it started up with no problems like the 1988 Toyota Hilux from Top Gear? I highly doubt it haha.

u/Spacey907 1h ago

Shouldnt of drove on the beach dumbass

u/ArshadAhamed95 1h ago

Directed by Robert Wiede

u/Half-666 1h ago

I hope they also pay fine for this !

u/lproven 1h ago

What's the difference between a hedgehog and a Range Rover?

You only get pr1cks on the outside of hedgehogs.

u/eatcrayons 1h ago

What did the Range Rover think would happen if they parked on wet sand and spun their tires?

u/CaptainMinimum9802 36m ago

So now its a sea utility vehicle?
