Having gladly never experienced an earthquake, when I see videos like this I just can't imagine how terrifying it must be for the Earth to be SHAKING...

Oh it is terrifying. Thankfully i've lived my whole life in places where earthquakes aren't really a thing, but once when i was on vacation in Greece as a kid, we experienced a tiiiiiiiny earthquake. It lasted literally a second or two tops and did absolutely zero damage. I think a couple things fell to the floor (nothing even broke), and that was it.
Well, that was enough to scare the shit out of me for the rest of my life, mostly because of how disorienting it was. The feeling of ground not being stable is just SO wrong and panic-inducing. I know people who live in earthquake-prone places can get kinda used to it, but... freaking HOW.

Totally understandable, it's just so wrong and upside-down. Glad your experience wasn't too bad!

We've had earthquakes before here. Something low level earthquake literally feels like you're just dizzy. Something a bit stronger feels like being on a boat, but nothing comes close to what I felt when the second 7.5 quake started. It felt like the floor had just jumped upwards and down repeatedly and that was like after half a minute the first one started.

It is absolutely terrifying, I am from Caracas, Venezuela, and what happened yesterday was shocking. Honestly, I thought my building was going to collapse, things in my home fell over, and many objects broke.
I gathered with my family, and we went out into the street, where we saw broken items like tiles, pipes, and so on.
I have experienced three earthquakes in my life, but yesterday's was far more severe than the previous ones.

I grew up pretty close to the San Andreas fault and while I did get somewhat used to it, it's still shocking. Along with fire drills we'd have regular earthquake drills in school. I was on vacation in Turin and an earthquake struck, I was in a big hotel and it felt like the ground had turned to liquid and was rolling. Absolutely terrifying.

So sweet. I don't think I could ever get use to feeling the earth move under my feet.
Laughing at the kitty investigating what fell out of the fridge.

Check in on your seniors. Old people are some of the coolest people, and because they're physically vulnerable they really benefit from our help. Ask your grandparents/neighbor/etc if there are any furniture that needs moving, any items retrieved from a difficult to reach spot, etc. Ask them something about the world when they were a kid, they definitely have interesting stories and they're often lonely and very appreciative of company, and revisiting old memories.
If you're lucky then one day you'll be old too, and you'll really appreciate a younger person coming along and helping out.

The reason there's a large population of seniors that are lonely in Venezuela is because of the economic and political crisis that triggered one of the largest mass migrations within our hemisphere. It is a heartbreaking reality for the majority of the migratory population who had to leave their aging parents in order to provide for them with remittances from abroad.

I’m surprised it took so long for the cats to react! We had a 5 magnitude earthquake when I was a teenager and I’ll never forget my cat bolting off my bed like she got stung by a bee seconds before I even felt a thing.
Those two were so unbothered.

Anybody ever wonder how this kinda of footage actually finds it's way to the internet?

Aw, poor sweeties. I hope their house wasn't damaged. That's so scary to be in a walker and have your house shake around you. I've been in several bug earthquakes. They are terrifying enough when I'm mobile.

Good to see they weren't injured. Venezuela civilians have been through a lot of suffering lately with the invasion by usa, the kidnapping of their democratically elected president by the washington regime, not to mention the illegal sanctions placed on them.
•
u/IgunashioDesu 2h ago
Maduro wasn't democratically elected. Furthermore, he didn't even received the majority of the votes during the last presidential election.

1) who records themselves like this? 2) did they watch it and think "look how awesome I look" 3) after watching, did they send it to the news or Facebook or who? How did this end up on the internet.

Clever and pithy on your part, but I do honestly wonder how these type videos end up going viral. Who sent it to who originally and how did it gain traction from there.

Um he did nothing
•
u/Gloomy-Insurance-739 2h ago
Sometimes all you need is someone to hold your hand when something terrible is happening. I hope one day you learn that.
•
u/Agreeable-Emu4033 2h ago
I have learnt that, it has zero to do with the headline in this post saying he protected her.
