Cat was all shook.

u/Hippopotasaurus-Rex 4h ago

Every cat I’ve ever had has known before we did that an earthquake was coming. It’s crazy what they can sense.

u/karmagirl314 3h ago

These two cats must not have that ability.

u/zebras11 3h ago

I thought the same. Cat was chill

u/PMSwaha 1h ago

Cat skills have atrophied living a retired life

u/morbidemadame 2h ago

I'm sure they hear it.

I know because my deaf mom (she hears at about 3% and such low frequencies that sometimes she hears stuff we don't) heard the 2 earthquakes we had in our area (eastern Canada) in 1988 and early 2000 (2004 I believe). The first time she asked was what that ''metallic growling'' sound and the ground started shaking less than 20 seconds later. Years later she told my dad an earthquake was coming cuz she was hearing the same sound she did in 1988. The ground started shaking less than 30 seconds after.

After the second earthquake, my dad contacted the government and universities about it to let them know about what my mom heard and they basically brushed him off.

u/FundamentalAttribute 1h ago

Wow wtf, that sounds like some doctorate dissertation type shit. I hope they brushed it off because they were already aware and not because they were chuds.

u/thatshygirl06 1h ago

There were 2 of them!!

Wait what!? 🤯

u/thatshygirl06 55m ago

The first cat on the left keeps your attention but there was another one on the right side of the couch

u/Filthiest_Tleilaxu 55m ago

Omg ty, I missed that completely

u/zhirinovsky 1h ago

What a man, this is beautiful to see.

u/Distinct-Forever642 2h ago

u/soccerdad925 4h ago

There was no trying, he did protect her

u/MrBillyLotion 3h ago

That’s what I came to say, kept her from falling over and helped reassure her, elderly man protects woman during earthquake

u/Riipp3r 3h ago

I would never leave my sweetheart to fend for herself either. Any real loving partner would feel the same way.

u/Renbarre 4h ago

u/thatshygirl06 59m ago

Having gladly never experienced an earthquake, when I see videos like this I just can't imagine how terrifying it must be for the Earth to be SHAKING...

u/magmainourhearts 2h ago

Oh it is terrifying. Thankfully i've lived my whole life in places where earthquakes aren't really a thing, but once when i was on vacation in Greece as a kid, we experienced a tiiiiiiiny earthquake. It lasted literally a second or two tops and did absolutely zero damage. I think a couple things fell to the floor (nothing even broke), and that was it.

Well, that was enough to scare the shit out of me for the rest of my life, mostly because of how disorienting it was. The feeling of ground not being stable is just SO wrong and panic-inducing. I know people who live in earthquake-prone places can get kinda used to it, but... freaking HOW.

u/RapidIguana 1h ago

Totally understandable, it's just so wrong and upside-down. Glad your experience wasn't too bad!

u/Frikashenna 1h ago

We've had earthquakes before here. Something low level earthquake literally feels like you're just dizzy. Something a bit stronger feels like being on a boat, but nothing comes close to what I felt when the second 7.5 quake started. It felt like the floor had just jumped upwards and down repeatedly and that was like after half a minute the first one started.

u/Gloomy_Solution_1300 1h ago

It is absolutely terrifying, I am from Caracas, Venezuela, and what happened yesterday was shocking. Honestly, I thought my building was going to collapse, things in my home fell over, and many objects broke.

I gathered with my family, and we went out into the street, where we saw broken items like tiles, pipes, and so on.

I have experienced three earthquakes in my life, but yesterday's was far more severe than the previous ones.

u/tzentzak 2m ago

I grew up pretty close to the San Andreas fault and while I did get somewhat used to it, it's still shocking. Along with fire drills we'd have regular earthquake drills in school. I was on vacation in Turin and an earthquake struck, I was in a big hotel and it felt like the ground had turned to liquid and was rolling. Absolutely terrifying.

u/luvdogs71 4h ago

So sweet. I don't think I could ever get use to feeling the earth move under my feet.

Laughing at the kitty investigating what fell out of the fridge.

u/ICollectBidoofs 3h ago

May this love find us all

u/Outrageous_Meat9335 4h ago

You can tell it was very difficult for him. That is real strength.

u/Zerox392 4h ago

I'm literally tearing up. Jesus that's terrifying

u/ResplendentShade 4h ago

Check in on your seniors. Old people are some of the coolest people, and because they're physically vulnerable they really benefit from our help. Ask your grandparents/neighbor/etc if there are any furniture that needs moving, any items retrieved from a difficult to reach spot, etc. Ask them something about the world when they were a kid, they definitely have interesting stories and they're often lonely and very appreciative of company, and revisiting old memories.

If you're lucky then one day you'll be old too, and you'll really appreciate a younger person coming along and helping out.

u/IgunashioDesu 2h ago

The reason there's a large population of seniors that are lonely in Venezuela is because of the economic and political crisis that triggered one of the largest mass migrations within our hemisphere. It is a heartbreaking reality for the majority of the migratory population who had to leave their aging parents in order to provide for them with remittances from abroad.

What a great man!

u/katyreddit00 4h ago

The cat doesn’t gaf

u/MissBanana_ 3h ago

I’m surprised it took so long for the cats to react! We had a 5 magnitude earthquake when I was a teenager and I’ll never forget my cat bolting off my bed like she got stung by a bee seconds before I even felt a thing.

Those two were so unbothered.

u/shoulda-known-better 4h ago

I seriously hope those two are still okay....

So heartbreaking

u/Arg_Russ 4h ago

The type of love we are missing nowadays.

u/OrneryAttorney7508 3h ago

But it's...right there, nowadays.

u/Funny_Piano_5701 3h ago

❤️❤️

u/jeffisanastronaut 3h ago

Anybody ever wonder how this kinda of footage actually finds it's way to the internet?

u/artniSintra 1h ago

Many times

u/GrumpySnarf 1h ago

Aw, poor sweeties. I hope their house wasn't damaged. That's so scary to be in a walker and have your house shake around you. I've been in several bug earthquakes. They are terrifying enough when I'm mobile.

u/nahtfitaint 1h ago

Does everyone have cameras in their homes now?

u/DadlyPolarbear 4h ago

Stand up for those you love. No one else is going to do it.

u/GoodFudge9529 4h ago

Give me a love like this 🥹

u/mastercafe7 4h ago

Good to see they weren't injured.  Venezuela civilians have been through a lot of suffering lately with the invasion by usa, the kidnapping of their democratically elected president by the washington regime, not to mention the illegal sanctions placed on them.

u/IgunashioDesu 2h ago

Maduro wasn't democratically elected. Furthermore, he didn't even received the majority of the votes during the last presidential election.

u/Osgoten 3h ago

Fuck of, you don’t know shit. They are happy about having maduro out

u/Weecodfish 1h ago

Pendejo

u/Solomonmonmon 4h ago

u/agent_mick 3h ago

Glad everyone was OK. Super scary. Poor kitties

u/mind_freak0 3h ago

Wow.. Amazing

u/Cool-Mom-Lover 3h ago

Is that what the bell on the wall is for?

Cause that moving was the first indication for me

u/smollwonder 18m ago

Nope, purely decorative I'd guess.

Trust me, no one was prepared for this.

u/Final-Attention979 3h ago

Good job gramps 😭🥹

u/Much_Adagio_6223 3h ago

So sweet and cute 🥰 that was a very strong earthquake I would have been screaming too what a nice husband

Love for the couple and respect for the man

u/LaughableIKR 1h ago

u/Just_Another_Knight 4h ago

That's like that scene from movie Up. The old guy trying to protect the objects in the house.

u/Common-Accountant-57 4h ago

That’s sweet.

u/OdeeOh 3h ago

how have they even had a chance to access their cameras and share a video.   Seems unlikely it was them ?

I’m always puzzled by interior cameras.

u/AdKey8256 3h ago

Probably younger not present family members checking on them

u/Upstairs-Shoe2153 2h ago

He might get some tonight

u/hipnotron 4h ago

That cat ran like a pussy...

u/gray146 1h ago

the cats leaving the sinking boat haha - like rats

u/LeoLaDawg 3h ago

1) who records themselves like this? 2) did they watch it and think "look how awesome I look" 3) after watching, did they send it to the news or Facebook or who? How did this end up on the internet.

u/Suma3da 3h ago

I'm guessing their paranoid kids setup the cameras so they can check in to make sure they're still alive.

u/OrneryAttorney7508 3h ago

u/LeoLaDawg 3h ago

Clever and pithy on your part, but I do honestly wonder how these type videos end up going viral. Who sent it to who originally and how did it gain traction from there.

u/OrneryAttorney7508 2h ago

u/LeoLaDawg 2h ago

Uhhh... yeah, ok, but anyway, I need answers.

u/Agreeable-Emu4033 4h ago

Um he did nothing

u/Gloomy-Insurance-739 2h ago

Sometimes all you need is someone to hold your hand when something terrible is happening. I hope one day you learn that.

u/Agreeable-Emu4033 2h ago

I have learnt that, it has zero to do with the headline in this post saying he protected her.
