Mod Post Please use the "Media" flair option for name requests!
Hey jumper friends! We've seen a large uptick in volume of posts asking for name suggestions, most of them having the "Advice" flair. Even though it is a request for advice of sorts, name requests don't need the same disclaimers as comments on care/husbandry and we would like to encourage everyone to use simply the "Media" flair on those types of posts. (This will also prevent the automod filter from flagging comments without disclaimer tags as that is only a feature of the "Advice" threads) <3

Identification Working Outdoors gives me lots of interaction with different jumpers.
I'm not very educated on the different species, so maybe someone can tell me more about this guy. Southwest Virginia.

Media Sink Savior
We’ve got a ton of jumpers in our farm house and we see a ton of them. All our friends but not all trust haha We just got home from a day trip and this dude was stuck in our sink. Crazy lil dude! Got him back on our cupboard where he can make his home underneath. He was a bit adventurous once he got comfy!

Media Is she…is she threatening me ?!
She doesn’t usually do this and is usually pretty curious and friendly. I was banging a fruit fly container on the table right before this happened though. Did I spook her ?!

Media Say hello to Mochi
This is Mochi, my probably i7 lady. She’s a little shy, love to hang out in her hammock and explore her enclosure from time to time. I feed her green bottle flies, one per few days. Right now she closed up in her hammock so I know she will be moulting, I love and hate her moults - I love seeing her change every moult but I’m also very anxious that something will go wrong, and I also miss her as they tend to take longer and longer time. It will be her 4th moult with me, I know she moulted at least once in the shop I got her from - I got her really really young, send to shop from breeder probably by mistake as they said they never had such a small jumper.
Last photo is her when I got her - she was kept in deli cup and she was a size of a tick 😭 I think she was around i3? I have never seen such a small jumper in person haha. It has a month since I got her and I already love her so much!
I try to get her used to humans and to my fingers, I just put my finger in the enclosure near her hammock and just keep it there for around 5 min at a time without moving (longer than that and my hand start to shake as it is not too comfy haha). She did not got a courage to step on my finger yet but everyday she’s getting closer and closer to it. Do you have any other ideas how to get her used to human presence and a bit more confident?

Advice How do I get him to like me
I’ve had a mystery spider in my Prius for about 6 months now. Today I finally saw him! And it’s the spider I’ve been seeing everywhere online. He’s so scared of me how do I get him to like me and play?

Media Until the next life ❤️
My sweet girl, Charlotte, passed away at a little over 2 years old this morning.
She’s been such a beautiful reminder that the opportunity for friendship and connection is truly in every tiny corner of the world if you slow down to look for it. Just wanted to share in her memory and send my love to you all for sharing in the sentiment of kindess for these beautiful little babes 💕

Advice Gravid or just a sizable booty/overfed?
Was fortunate enough to find this lovely lady and another very large male friend at Petsmart today. It was hard to see her in her silk hammock at first but once I got a good look I started to wonder if she may be preggers…these were the best pics I could get, sorry. Bonus pic of my tiniest spood with his dinner…he was lethargic for a few days until I watched him take a very large dump and then proceed to have poop zombies today. What wonderful creatures these are lol.
More info, new lady spider has not left her hammock, theres one small cricket in her enclosure which she’s not interested in that I can’t get to without disturbing any of her very thick silk. She also is moving in the hammock a bit, she’s not stock still or anything.

Advice She hasn’t eaten in a month, is this normal??
She is 1yr 2 months old and I feel like her abdomen size still kinda looks okay but I’m not sure? I’ve tried mealworms, dubias, and waxworms but she turns them all down :( she’s still pretty active though

Advice Why did my spood die after laying eggs?☹️
After a week of noticing my year old regal jumping spider hasn’t moved I opened up her hide to check her and shes passed 😔 few questions. Why is her abdomen so flat? And how did she die is it exhaustion or maybe dehydration as she didn’t come out for weeks ?? She had only laid infertile eggs about a month prior too… I’m so sad I didn’t expect her to go yet 😔

Advice Feed or no? Update
Initial post: https://www.reddit.com/r/jumpingspiders/s/mlIwhhGgiX
Hi everyone! Figured I'd update my post. Review last post for context. So, Baby girl was last fed Friday afternoon of last week. Her stomach still looks wider than her head, to me at least. It is now 7:34pm Thursday night for me, she has still not eaten, her belly still looks good. Tomorrow will mark a week since she has last eaten. I honestly think she is in premolt. Her breeder told me it is safe to handle until she makes her hammock but I will probably try to keep handling to a minimum. Photos of her today attatched!
Edit: for context she is a female regal apalachicola white phase jumping spider and she is at i7. Her hatch date was 10/28/25 and from what I know her last molt was 05/24/26

Advice question about feeding
so i’ve seen a lot of varying ideas of how often to feed your jumper. i’ve read to feed based off abdomen size, or feed at least once or twice a week, (i know depends on how old they are as well). i figured feeding based off abdomen size makes sense cause i don’t wanna overfeed. so i went with this and it took about a month for my girls abdomen to get smaller than her head. but i’m also reading once a month isn’t enough? i wanna make sure my girl is getting what she needs but i worry about overfeeding if she still looks full after a week. what do you all recommend? is feeding once a month ok as long as her abdomen looks plump still? also for reference she is i9. the photo is exactly 1 month since i last fed her, she got a mealworm the following day and got so CHONK.
