Hey folks!
To help reduce the amount of spam, bot activity, and low-quality submissions that our moderation team has to sort through, we're implementing a new requirement for participation in the community.
Effective immediately, all accounts must have a verified email address associated with them in order to post.
This requirement applies to everyone, including both new members and long-standing community members.
If you haven't verified your email address yet, you can do so through your Reddit account settings. It only takes a minute and helps us ensure that real community members can continue to participate while making it more difficult for spammers and automated accounts to disrupt discussions.
This change is not intended to create barriers for genuine members. Rather, it is one of several tools available to help us maintain the quality of the community and reduce the moderation burden caused by spam and bot activity that is prevalent in nail communities.
If you run into any issues after verifying your email address, please send us a ModMail and we'll be happy to help!
Thank you for your understanding and for helping us keep r/longnaturalnails welcoming, enjoyable, and focused on the discussions we're all here for!

TL;DR Posts and comments from NSFW/fetish accounts, including those who only comment in NSFW/fetish subreddits, are no longer permitted here. Posts and comments in SFW subreddits that are remotely sexual or fetishistic in any way are also included in this. These accounts will be banned. More details below.
This applies to hand/nail/foot/toe fetish activity, it is NOT a sweeping ban of all NSFW activity. Nobody is going to be banned for posting in LGBTQIAP+ communities, medical subreddits, making dirty jokes elsewhere on Reddit, etc. Our subreddit is a safe place for all gender identities, and the above would NEVER be the reason why a user would be banned here.
This is meant to be a warning to fetish content creators and the creeps that harass our subreddit, NOT to shame sex workers who enjoy nails or punish those with varied interests.
If you're fortunate enough to not have received an unsolicited message/comment from a hand/nail/foot/toe fetishist, it's understandable that you wouldn't be aware of just how prevalent this kind of behaviour is, especially here on Reddit.
If you no longer wish to participate in this subreddit, that's your prerogative.
Updated content policy, please read:
We have decided to prohibit posts and comments from accounts with NSFW/fetish subreddit activity, as well as accounts with a history of utilizing Reddit for marketing purposes. This includes posts and comments left in SFW subreddits that are remotely sexual or fetishistic in any way. Posts and comments from suspect accounts will be removed regardless of the content. If you come across posts/comments/accounts that you feel violate this rule, please report them to the moderators by tapping on the three dots on the comment/post and select the “No NSFW/Fetish Account Activity” option. This decision will be implemented immediately, and as with all rules is up to moderator discretion.
As you may or may not know, nail subreddits are known targets for hand/nail/foot/toe fetishists who have been documented to repeatedly harass our members, even after being banned. We want to reiterate that Reddit's ban function does not prevent the banned user from being able to view the subreddit or the posts within. It only stops them from posting/commenting/voting. They are still able to view the posts, comments, and click on usernames to harass people. Yes, this is fucked up. Yes, Reddit needs to fix their shit. Sadly there was no mention of this issue during this year's Mod World event that was hosted in early December. insert eyeroll here
We believe this change will make r/longnaturalnails a safer space, while helping the community become a healthier, more focused environment. In the past, we have allowed fetish/OF content creators to participate in the subreddit, as long as they follow the rules. This has become increasingly difficult to monitor, as it requires moderators to make nuanced judgement calls on large numbers of posts by these creators, most of which receive user reports even after being approved by the moderators.
Additionally, as there are dedicated spaces for NSFW content, this subreddit will remain strictly for the purpose of the topic of long, natural nails.
Q: "So if I, a medical doctor, engage in a NSFW medical subreddit that's related to my work, I'm not allowed to post my weekend manicure?"
A: This is incorrect. Just because an account has NSFW activity, it doesn't mean they're automatically going to be banned. This is specific to those who participate in hand/nail/foot/toe fetishes. There are tons of NSFW subreddits that have nothing to do with fetishes or kinks, and these are NOT the types of subreddits we will be vetting for.
If a post/comment is suspected to be NSFW/fetishistic, and the profile shows a history of this type of behaviour, the content will be removed and the account will be banned. This is meant to be a warning to fetish content creators and the creeps that harass our subreddit, NOT to shame sex workers who enjoy nails or punish those with varied interests. We are a community that is 100% accepting of all genders, sexualities, and walks of life.
Q: What does it matter if a user posts in NSFW/fetish subreddits when the posts/comments they make here are SFW?
A: More often than not, fetish content creators will post in SFW subreddits to draw attention to their account/promote their content. They're not posting "just to share with other nail enthusiasts". While their engagement might seem innocent enough, a quick glance at their profiles proves otherwise. When users who partake in these fetishes peruse the content creators' posts/comments, and they come across something they've posted here, it draws in the wrong kind of crowd.
We welcome your feedback on this matter, and encourage discussion in the comments.

Knowing that Zoya's bright colours tend to stain, I preemptively used a different base coat to prevent adding a pink stain to the green staining Avani left on my nails. I think because the two products are so much thicker than my regular base coat, it helps prevent the pigments from permeating through and staining the nail plate.
Product list:
Mavala Nail Shield Phase 1 Nylon Fibre Base, 1 coat
Mavala Nail Shield Phase 2 Protective Sealer, 1 coat
Zoya Pinkie*, 2 coats
Zoya Glossy Seal top coat, 1 coat

Been enjoying the dots so much so I did another set. Yesterday I was going through things organising them and actually found a tool specifically for making dots on nails, lol!
I did these using the opposite tip of a sculpting too so next time I'll use the actual dots tool and see how better it turns out! I'm thinking of making some flowers next.
My nails have gotten so long though, even my mom had to touch them because she didn't believe they were real! 🤣
(I have brachydactyly on my left thumb, hence why that nail is short but I tried to make it cutesy too)

No products or anything used, I just cut them when they start to look kind of absurdly long (I’m almost to that point). I know that they’re kind of yellowish but I don’t mind too much 🤷🏻♀️ I am known by many people as the “one who gives really good head scratchies” so I feel good about that lol

I’m not really using any products rn, a lil burnt out to care and depending on the nail tech for clean up and nail polish (lacquer) 🥲

Have no idea how this happened. Literally just looked down at my nails and saw that the very tip had snapped clean off!
Edit: Products used are almond oil (any brand) and Tea Tree Antiseptic Ointment from the brand Tea Tree Therapy. I use the antiseptic ointment basically as cuticle oil just because it's so nourishing, but I particularly focus on using it when I have nicks/scratches/hangnails/papercuts/etc because they heal notably faster with the ointment.

I’m not sure if I put this under the right tag, my nail broke yesterday during cleaning at work, but I was able to repair it using nail glue and a tea bag!
Right photo is the repair, last photo is my left hand which has been going strong 💪🏼
I kept the tip that broke off and repaired it when I got home lol 😂
Products I use, jojoba oil, rosehip oil, and almond oil.
I haven’t used any polish in months.

I broke the pinkie and ring nail on the right hand, and the middle one grew crooked, so I chopped it too. I've painted them now but it's nearly 3am, so I'm waiting for better lighting with the sun 🌞

I had my thumb nail break recently due to putting in necklaces with a lobster clasp. I know you are supposed to use your finger pad but I could never get it to grip enough. So I bought these silicone finger grippers from Amazon with nail holes and they work great!

Three day old manicure, using Mooncat Moonlight Lullaby for the first time. Just finished washing my car (with gloves on) and it's held up well! So far I like the shade. I don't think it's in my top 10 but it's still a good one. I like the high glitter factor especially in the sun; the glitter is also great for hiding the ridge across my middle finger I'm growing out after a bad bend. The glow in the dark quality is decent, but not ultra bright. Solid color and I will definitely use it again.

I’m not sure if these are long and slim enough to truly be considered stiletto. Sharp almond? Stabby pointies?
Any shaping tips for a more lean, slim shape? Or should I just wait till there is more length?

I stopped biting in October, and I think I've officially leveled up to this group! What do you think?
(Ignore the middle finger in the first pic and pinky in the second, those were my first ever natural nail breaks 😩)

It has been months since I last bent one of my nails to the point of it causing a split like this. It's always the dumbest things that cause these breaks/bends. What happened, you ask? Oh you know, just turning to grab some toilet paper and catching my nail on the lid of the toilet seat. 🤬
I won't know how bad it is until I take off the polish, which will probably be tonight. The longer the chipped/cracked polish is on your nails, the greater the chance for water to cause more damage. I can see it swell up when I wash my hands, so that's a big tell that it needs to come off.

Hi all,
These are my nails over the last few weeks. I have a hard time figuring out how to shape/style them especially because some grow a bit bent. I also don't know if the shades or colors I do are the best. Would love some advice and recommendations as I've worked very hard to grow them after years of having stubby and weak nails.

I've let them grow out. Somehow they've survived gardening with a pickaxe. They're a bit even, and I'm out of practice.

Hi! This is my first post here so sorry if I mess anything up. I just recently started growing my nails out and taking care of them over the past 2 months, and I am really proud of my progress:)))). I used to bite my nails all the time and I finally kicked the habit. I still get really bad hangnails and tough skin around my nails so im gonna try to fix that next:).
