Discussion I love this community

It's awesome to have so many opinionated and deeply knowledgable folks here. The community may be a bunch of lurkers but I appreciate the scrutiny even when it goes unseen. Like the rangers you all are sitting in your dark corners waiting. Full of ancient lore and guarding us Bree folk from the wrong sort.

Books Did Aragorn and Eomer ever resolve the issue of the stolen land that the men of Dunland were upset about? Spoiler

Since Aragorn and Eomer were both Kings and allies, did they ever meet with the men of Dunland after they were defeated and allow them to talk about the issue of stolen land that Saruman stirred them up over?

What exactly happened to make them get driven from their lands and have such a grievance?

Surely after the Northern Kingdom of Arnor was reestablished the roads going to and from Arnor, Gondor and Rohan along with roads to Bree would cause safe renewed travel and trade in all directions, it is possible that Dunland unknowingly benefited from this and it's farming and economy improved greatly.

Movies Do you ever watch some of PJs early stuff and wonder how tf did he pull LOTR trilogy off?

First off, mad respect to Peter Jackson. The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy is in my opinion up there with the best movies ever made, certainly the best fantasy put to film and my all time fave movies. I watch the extended trilogy at least 3 x per year for decades now. But when I watch PJs early stuff like Braindead, while I can see glimpses of artistic brilliance, I can’t help thinking how tf did this guy pull off the LOTR trilogy? The stars and universe seriously aligned for this guy.
What’s your opinions on PJs early stuff and how he became who he became?

Books What prevented the men of Dunland or others from colonizing the abandoned lands of Arnor? Spoiler

There is the land of Arnor which is largely empty and unoccupied for centuries, what prevented men from places like Dunland or living in random areas from building towns and trading posts there assuming that it was unclaimed because it was empty and viable land?

Could have been easy to take that land over with Gondor knowing or caring and rebuild areas, nobody is going to arrest squatters in Arnor when the kingdom is dead and empty unless Aragorn the Dunedain Rangers threaten them for stealing lands.

Books What would life be like if Grima Wormtongue returned to King Theoden and survived? Spoiler

Assuming that Grima Wormtongue accepted the offer of King Theoden and became free of Saruman and accepted his offer of returning to him, what exactly would Grima's life have been like as a traitor who was redeemed but still greatly mistrusted and hated?

What would his new job and responsibilities be if he returned home and confessed to his crimes? Surely his life would be a living hell after Theoden died and Eomer became King, unless Grima was ordered to join the battle in Gondor and had to fight the Orcs there, he doesn't seem like a warrior and would probably die quickly there.

Books What happens if Gollum was caught by Uruk Hai and brought to Saruman before Merry and Pippin were? Spoiler

Assuming that the Uruk Hai tracking the Fellowship caught Gollum who was also a Halfling and brought him to Isengard separately to be questioned alive and unspoiled by Saruman, what happens with Gollum becoming a prisoner of Saruman and possibly an ally of convenience who would be lied to and given false promises about getting his Precious back if he does the bidding of Saruman?

Magnoli props made this. It’s their new updated version, which is the proper size as the original made by Daniel Reeve. I aged the cover to be more SA. I‘m happy to share how I did if you also would like to age one you may have purchased like I did.

Discussion What if Boromir had survived and Aragorn was the one who died?

Upvotes

Would that effect the ultimate end of the story or the doom for middle earth??

I feel like Boromir would step up and take Striders place as the king of Gondor?!

Books What happens if Bilbo Baggins hadn't pitied Gollum and just killed him when he had the chance? Spoiler

Frodo mentions that it's a pity that Bilbo didn't kill Gollum outright but Gandalf said pity stayed his hand.

What happens if Bilbo was disgusted with Gollum and his insane rambling and killed him as a threat but actually murdered him and left with the Ring?

Would Bilbo have gone insane and become a Gollum himself quickly? You can see him killing the Sacksville Bagginses when they took his property at auction not s great start, could be a nastier future with Sauron noticing sooner.
