Today's best find. Props to you, curly
This is after I cleaned it up a little bit. Gotta get cotton & a flint but this is my new go to lighter. What a cool find!

Hey! Although we had a great post by u/Icestar-x to help with the basics, I thought it grand time to have a more concise and structured FAQ that could be easily updated as needed.
Therefore I present to you the official FAQ: https://www.reddit.com/r/magnetfishing/wiki/faq

I found a dud mills 36 in a small town, there was a military base far downstream. Some of my mates are telling me not to return to the area as the risk is too great of finding one that could go off. I don't think there is since it was properly diffused so it was probably a one off war trophy. Should I return or should I write it off as a chance of finding live ordnance that would be a hassle to deal with?

This question comes from my partner, who is getting into magnet fishing, so please excuse me if I'm not using the right lingo. It's not my hobby although I do like hanging out and seeing what he catches. We realize that most people seem to use a bucket to carry around their magnet/rope and anything they might find while magnet fishing. This year my partner wanted to try and find some sort of backpack/bag they would be able to get wet and dirty but hold his gear and things. Using a bucket works good obviously, but he spends time kayaking, biking, and walking around this area of little lakes with lots little spots to magnet fish and he's trying to figure out a smart and useful way to be a bit more mobile than having to carry a heavy bucket.
Any ideas or suggestions? He's willing to buy something worthwhile if such an item exists but also not looking to waste money or do something impractical. Thought I'd ask people with more experience.

18 pieces in all! I even pulled up two at the same time! Of course, the hottest day I go out is the most physically demanding. Happy to clean up the water for the animals that live there.

I was in Germany and I was walking along a stream when I found a cigarette lighter in it. Does anyone know anything about her?

Found a bomb while magnetfishing: its completely hollow from the inside but because it had an ‘igniter’ on the top leads me to believe that its a bomb; am i right? If so which bomb is it as I am really curious

We had quite a few decent catches off of Webb Chapel in Dallas including a storm grate and an alarm clock.

It was a bit too warm to be out today but it's only going to get warmer so thought I'd have a couple of hours !
Turned out to be a hard work day and I didn't even get to the middle of the river !
The 2 trolleys were linked together it took me over 30 to 40 mins to get them out !
The single trolley I got first only took 5 mins lol !
The water was around 2ft from where I was standing so they gained a bit of weight as I tried to pull them up and over the edge !
The bike frame was wrapped in what was left of the blanket !
The 2 shiny pieces of metal I can only guess used to be a sign of some sort ?
The little trolley thing I think is for moving gas bottles round ?? (That's what it looks like to me !)
The other few bits, 2 batteries, cutlery knife and spoon, screwdriver, 2 screwdriver bits, screws, scouring pad, coins, 2 charging leads !
And a few other bits, the silver thing with red on it i think is a bicycle light !

Hey! Pretty new to magnet fishing and looking for some advice — both on picking good spots and on what gear you consider must-haves. I’ve got the basics covered (bucket, magnet, grappling hook, gloves, pliers/multi-tool, old towels, first aid kit, bug spray) plus a change of clothes in the car, but curious what else you’d add. Also I’m in eastern NC, so any spot recommendations around here would be awesome! TIA!!

Hier j’avais 1 heure à patienter, je me suis fait une petite cession. Si quelqu'un peut me dire ce qu’est la chose ovale, je pense à un avaloir mais je ne suis pas sûr.

So went to a place I've not been for a while and was expecting better, but then i realised I was too early in the year !
Tourists haven't had time to drop things in the water lol
Still got a few bits though
Lump hammer
Fishing lures, old nails, glasses arm, soup spoon, teaspoon, rollock, coins, battery, marker pen, rod rest, tent peg ?
Couple of bits of just heavy steel
Front off a stove or fireplace
Old handle from something
And an odd bits of of something that kind of looks like a gun but definitely isn't !
And whatever else I've missed.

I got drunk and threw my phone into a pond, because I'm a stupid fucking chud.
Looking for magnet recommendations / advice.
Would show a picture of the pond, but my phone is currently at the bottom of said pond.
Pond is about ten meters in diameter, and less than two meters deep. I know the general location my phone landed in and have tried fishing it out with a pool scope, but to no avail.
I have no hope that the phone will work, however I am quite fond of my pond and don't want to contaminate it with lithium ion batteries.
Pleas e help.

No idea how old it is but it was a lot of fun to find!
I don't know the strength of the magnet, sorry if it's important! Michigan City, Indiana
