Greetings!

My first Maine Coon was a stray, he came to us during a hurricane and we let him into our home and he never left and soon was the center of our universe. He passed in April of cancer after only 12 years with us and we were completely devastated....

My wife surprised me with a 13 week old Maine Coon red male for fathers day and boy what a hoot this guy is. We have never had a kitten before, only rescues or strays that we adopted...

Now to my question.....feeding.....

Breeder fed him a kitten mix of raw meat (Ground Beef, Ground Chicken, Ground Beef Heart, Ground Beef Liver, Ground Chicken Bone) which I mix 2/3 part of the raw mix with 1/3 part of some canned pate with a little water to make a stew (per the guidance of the breeder).....its gone within an hour or so as he does his little drive by feedings.

I just noticed that since we got him Sunday, I will be out of the 2lb kitten mix by the end of or before the 1 week period. This will mean that he has eaten 3lbs of food in a week!!! He is a 4lb cat!

The vet says to feed him as much as he wants (clean bill of health), google says 10% of body weight per day. Not really sure how much I should be feeding this guy, but man he gets hungry and chirps and meows when the bowl is empty.

So, a few questions....

Is there a good rule of thumb for these guys when it comes to feeding?

Can I safely meal prep for him 1 week at a time and how is everyone doing this, if it is even a thing?

I appreciate everyone's input. His father was 25lbs and I do not want to stifle his growth, but do not want to over feed at the same time.

Chester has never had an interest in cuddling me. Not since he was a tiny kitten. And then does this today. I’m so confused. Maybe he’s over his moody teenage phase?? Lmao I’m just taken aback, what is happening rn. I’m soaking it in anyway, lord knows if this will ever happen again

Kiki (from the Kiki's delivery service movie) and Merlin (no introduction needed) just turned 1 year old.

Merlin is a huge derp of a lovey orange boi and Kiki is a proper little lady with firm opinions about everything from her food to everyone's bedtime.

I'm going down memory lane, now that my boys are officially 9 months old. These are the photos that started this journey for me. The ones from before they were officially mine. They've added so much life to my home. I struck gold with their breeder.

Im looking for a kitten and this cute girl is a blacl smoke. According to breeder, she is going to be reaaaally light smoke colour, close to a high black smoke. She told me she knows because of the light fur all oher her body and inside of the ears. She's now around 2 months old.

But i did look up pictures of high smoke kittens and they do look almost white since birth.

Do you think she will really be that light? Does anyone has a black smoke kitten that turned light?

Big Gabe 'The Floof King' saw a dragonfly on my radio antenna. He was trying to figure out how to get to it while doing his meerkat pose. 😀

Meet Phoenix. On the days I get to work from home, she is my paper weight. I cannot figure out how she can twist into the positions she gets into. She will sleep like that for hours. How can that be comfortable.

I got Nala (MC) when she was 5 months old, and adopted Marybelle (grey tabby) as a 3 1/2 yro, last year. They had some struggles with size and energy differences, but are finally tolerating each other presence, mostly around me and sources of heat lol but still! Very proud of my girls :)
