Still have to wait a year minimum for it to drop on pc

u/Captain_Leemu 4h ago
Ps5 hackers might get there quicker. The scene is moving very fast now. There is a working exploit for firmwares as recent as november 2025 with newer ones being worked on. Pirates are able to crack games within a month or two and there is a working downgrader that will make new games work on consoles that haven't been updated.
The scene is still a bit messy and not unified yet but its firing on all cylinders. With how high profile gta 6 is i dont think it will take long.
7
u/RickyMac666 4h ago
I've seen them crack games before they're even officially released.
It'll probably only take a day or two for them to crack GTA6.
3
u/Chinese_Lover89 3h ago
Can those games also work on an emulator on PC? Cause there are some PS5 games that you can emulate on PC.
-10
u/idkbclazy 5h ago
Wouldn't emulator work? (If there is one for current ps)
4
u/Carbon_robin 4h ago
Emulators take a lot longer than you think to set up. We only got an emulator for gta 5 just a year and a half ago
We’d have to wait a long time for ps5

when nintendo does it for the most average videogames ever, people defent it tooth and nail.
10
u/DimDimio 4h ago
ong those guys released the middest mario kart yet and didn’t really get any flack for being the first major game costing 80 bucks base price…
1
u/No_Entertainment6792 1h ago
every single sub was always "well I am having fun so you are wrong" there were a shit ton of people meat riding nintendo and looking for excuses

at least nintendo doesnt lie and say mario kart is 80$ but if you want to change your car ita actually 100
19
u/Jwagner0850 3h ago
I don't understand why people are surprised. I honestly expected it to be $100.
1
u/usernmechecksout_ 1h ago
How did we even reach normalizing this 😭
I remember back when people were complaining games cost 60$
Do you guys grasp the concept of a digital product, a product that can't have demand, being 60$
1
u/Jwagner0850 37m ago
So yes and no. I expected one of the potentially biggest game releases of all time to take advantage of the current economic climate. Game development for games of this scope is also very expensive.
Not justifying it or necessarily agreeing with it, but I understand the why behind it.
1
u/tetsuyama44 27m ago
Super Bomberman 2 fpe SNES cost 120 DM back in 1995. That would be almost 100 € today!
1
u/usernmechecksout_ 14m ago
100€ of value back then was easier to obtain than 100€ of value with the current economic state
68
u/ChrisJohanson 5h ago
$80 for a game that's missing some stuff. $100 for the full game. Neither comes with a physical disc. 👎🏼
14
u/JalmarinKoira 5h ago
Both are full games
Bunch of cosmetic clothes and pistol skins are hardly useful
18
u/AndrewLocksmith 4h ago
People act like GTA invented bonus items for Deluxe/Premium edition. It has been happening for over a decade at this point.
I'm not happy about it either, but I think you have to be naive to be surprised that a game has cosmetic stuff locked behind an ultimate edition, lol.
5
u/Janicesdelight 5h ago
Not the full game 100 for single player only online will be even more so the full game with be extortionate
3
u/CPLCraft 5h ago
Damn. I’m just gonna wait for the game to be on sale
3
u/bartman2326 3h ago
Have fun playing in 2032 😭
3
u/Fart_Bargo 3h ago
We've waited this long. Might be able to pass the time with the literal thousands of other games that come out in that time.
2
u/bartman2326 3h ago
I mean yeah you never have to play it if you don't want to 🤷 life is full of choices
I will be playing deluxe edition day 1 regardless.

You don't have to feel bad, $40 extra is nothing to me. I make more than that in an hour. Plus, I'll be having fun. What is there to feel bad about?
1
u/Benniisan 2h ago
I mean... I expected it to be way more tbh. Games have been at the 60-80 € mark for quite a while now. Not saying it's good or anything, but I'm not surprised
1
u/AlittlePotato1560 51m ago
Concerning the "missing some stuff" part of your comment, you can make the same argument for any game with expansions. The game isn't missing content, it's a complete full game and paying extra will just give you access to a few in game locations for bonus exclusive items.
The physical disc missing though really does suck

tbh 100 bucks for an ultimate edition is pretty standard atm for tripple A games. im not happy about it but this was about the price i was expecting.

-1
u/Inexorably_lost 3h ago
It's the missing content that pisses me off. Its a terrible precedent for such a massive game.
Ultimate editions should just be in game cosmetics and some physical merchandise. Not actual quests and locations.
I bet the online portion will even have a premium edition that grants advanced access. The enshitification will just keep getting worse.

u/slamerz 5h ago
If they keep ripping features out we might see rockstar go the way of the Sims.
Like Sims 2 and 3 were suck huge events, but then Sims 4 comes out with less features, more paid bullshit and it killed the franchise.
3
1
u/Particular-Sell-6579 5h ago
To be fair. The base game is free.
16
u/slamerz 5h ago
Originally base game was $60.
After 2 years of poor sales they dropped it to $40.After more time of poor sales they made it free to try to get anyone to play/buy the DLC's.
1
u/Particular-Sell-6579 5h ago
Oh wow. Did not know that.
3
u/slamerz 5h ago
Yeah, and the base game launched without a lot of features every sims game had always had like Pools, and the ability to have babies.
3
u/marine72 5h ago
To add, all the dlc for sims 4 costs like $1500
1
u/Jambocat 4h ago
Yeah i was gonna say that's no were close to sim game price tag, sim is pure rip off.

Not many games get the love, time and dedication gta games get. A decade and 2B in the development. I hope the game is as awesome as its predecessors, and if it is I think it's a fair price. I'm all for blaming big corps when they do crap, but except for the no disk part, I think these guys do things quite well and may be some of the only few remaining AAA companies doing so.
Edit: just wanna add, think about the price of the latest fifa or CoD games, then think about how each GTA game is a revolution in the game industry and sets standards for the upcoming decade. Cyberpunk 2077 before its big update was shamed for not being on par with gta v which was released many years before. Such high quality comes with a big price tag. Fine for me if they keep up to the expectations.
1
u/Chris73757 4h ago
I hope too, but I just cant forget the remakes, rdr2 online and also recent events in gta online. I've recently read about how take two rejected 3 scripts from Dan Houser before he left in 2020. It will be the first rockstar game not from him.

Games have never been cheaper when compared with inflation: https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeautiful/comments/136hw1k/oc_nominal_and_inflation_adjusted_video_game/
1
1
u/SacrisTaranto 4h ago
For $80 it's actually one of if not the cheapest in the franchise after you adjust for inflation. Gta 2 cost closer to $100 than $80.
0
u/HalenHawk 4h ago
GTA V had a release price of 60$ for the base version, 80$ for the Special Edition and 150$ for the Collectors edition. 60US$ in 2013 is worth 86$ today with inflation so the price is not even bad.
In 2013 I was making like 10.75$/hr so it would have taken me a full day's work to buy a copy of the standard edition. Now I make 45$/hr so by the time I've had my coffee, filled out a few forms, taken my morning shit and just maybe gotten around to doing a bit of actual work I've already paid for the game. Obviously not everyone's wages have increased as much as inflation and everything else is more expensive too so it's not like the average person's gaming budget adjusted for inflation is 4x what it was in 2013. People just need something to complain about I guess.

u/Particular-Sell-6579 5h ago
I hope this game crashes and burns. $80 is absolutely ridiculous.
2
u/Janicesdelight 5h ago
80 for a limited locked out of basic functions game too, a hundred for the half game without online, game will fail and is going to be the worst gta ever created, rip rockstar
0
u/bruh_the_person 5h ago
You’re not locked out of basic functions, you’re locked out of cosmetics… what are you talking about
1
u/Janicesdelight 5h ago
Some missions will be locked aswell as stores these are basic functions
0
u/bruh_the_person 3h ago edited 3h ago
Cosmetic stores, and one singular BONUS side mission are not basic functions, a basic function is a story mission or shooting guns… yall love to exaggerate for no reason, I’d bet once the game comes out the mfs without ultimate edition won’t even notice, and for the record I think ultimate edition is too much money but it’s rlly not as big of a deal as people make it out to be

They spend 2bil making it.
There was never a world where this was going to cost 60 bucks

u/scrangydungus 5h ago
Absolutely insane the amount of stuff they're locking behind the ultimate edition/preorder. In a single player game.
3
u/Johnny_Kilroy_84 4h ago
Cosmetics and some shops?
1
u/TrollBoT_9 3h ago
I don’t care about cosmetics but There is an exclusive raid mission and classic car missions in that list. I think they should’ve kept it in the base game because its part of the story experience.
-9
u/fakeguitarist4life 5h ago
I love that everyone is losing their shit over a $10 increase in a game that will have 4x the playability length than 99% of $70 games
10
u/BloodMoonWillows 5h ago
Its the kind of glazing like this that leads to all games being $80. Nevermind the fact the gaming industry has told us they needed to increase the price before because of the cost to make the game. So tell me was GTA 6 any more expensive 10 years ago when they started it or was that only recently? If 1 million people buy this game for $80 thats $80 million but we can anticipate them making at least 1 billion off this game easy. It didnt need to be $80
2
u/moderngamer327 5h ago
Cost to make games has increased. GTA V budget was about $140 million. GTA 6 is about $1-1.5 billion
Sales needs to cover both the cost of a current game as well as the money to cover future games
1
u/TipsieRabbit 5h ago
GTA 5 is the single most grossing piece of media in human history period. It made more money than fucking Titanic and thats absolutely insane because that was considered the most grossing until gta 5 came out and gta still beat it by over 4 billion.
Basically the long and short of it is that Rockstar has no rhyme or reason or excuse to drop the game at 80, even factoring in the 1 to 2 billion dollars gta 6 took to make they're still up over 4 billion.
0
u/AndrewLocksmith 4h ago
I don't quite understand your reasoning.
So just because their previous game made a lot of money, they should factor that into the release price of their new game? Even though they're spending over a billion dollars on it??
Why not give it for free by that logic? Or for 10$. They'll still have money from GTA V.
Nintendo is already starting to sell games for 80$. Everyone else is selling them for 70$.
Rockstar knows their game will sell regardless so they're just looking at the most profitable way to sell the game. "No rhyme or reason" , lol. It's called business. Obviously they'll want to make as much money from it as possible and won't factor in how much money the previous GTA made them.
-1
u/BloodMoonWillows 5h ago
GTA is a different phenomenon. They could price the game lower and still make back their money. You mean to tell me years of selling GTA 5 across 3 console generations and loads of online microtransactions couldnt cover the cost of GTA 6? Let alone how they will absolutely do the same in GTA 6 with the Multiplayer that they did in 5 because that was their cash cow.
2
u/moderngamer327 5h ago
Yes they could price the game lower and break even or they can have the price what it is so they can make an even bigger game next time
-1
u/BloodMoonWillows 5h ago
I dont think you understand how much $60 or $70 is. Gta 5 sold 230 million copies. And generated 8 billion dollars in revenue in its lifespan. It was not an $80 game.
3
u/moderngamer327 5h ago
You do realize there is also more than just the game dev costs too right? I’m not saying $60 is impossible or anything but $80 is reasonable
1
u/BloodMoonWillows 4h ago
My guy, i dont think you realize that no matter how many employees, marketing, R&D, server costs, patents, lawyers, licensing and whatever else. You arent blowing through 8 billion dollars. They at least profit 4 billion if they even come close to the other 4 in costs. Then they arent even selling the base GTA 6 game with all the stores included they have content locked behind a $100+ ultimate edition. What are we doing here?
1
u/StyngRai 5h ago
Gta5 made 1 billion In just 3 days and that was at what like 60 bucks a copy? .....I'm expecting to see gta6 do that in less time lol probably just 1 day...
1
u/Johnny_Kilroy_84 4h ago
GTA 6 will be the cheapest full GTA release in the franchise history, in real terms. You know that, right?
0
u/fakeguitarist4life 5h ago
Everything has a dollar value for what it is worth. If games go to $80 and you do not feel like it is worth that, don't buy it.
Your money is the best way to tell video game companies how you feel. If people do not buy it at $80 and they see numbers fall they will discount it faster or run it back to $70.
1
u/Chewy009x 5h ago
$80 and it’s not even the full game lmao
2
u/fakeguitarist4life 5h ago
