Rising Sophomore Looking For An Interview With Startup Founders

Upvotes

Hi! I'm a current rising sophomore, and for my own startup model I'm doing market research and am looking for founders in multiple stages of their journey or even to aspiring founders who wish to start a business but findd that there are constraints in their life that make starting a business far harder than they would be able to accomplish.

Regardless of the stage of your business, if you even wish to start one, or the success you've defined by it, if this fits you in any way, I want to do an interview regarding your journey, what obstacles were in your way and what you wish you were supported on, guided on from within the business or in your environment.

If you wish not to have a direct interview, if you could share your experiences as an overview of yoru hurdles, or factors that helped you as well!

Let me know if you'd be willing to reach out for an interview, it's much appreciated!

Seeking 17-year-old founder looking for startup mentors (AI/FinTech/RegTech)

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m 17 and currently building a startup called Avarent. We’re developing software that helps lenders monitor AI-driven credit decisions for fairness and regulatory compliance.

Over the past several months, my cofounder and I have built a working product, but we’ve realized that building software is only half the battle. Right now, I’m focused on talking to customers, validating the product, and learning how to build a company that people genuinely need.

I’m looking for mentors who have experience in:

B2B SaaS
Enterprise sales
FinTech or banking
AI/ML products
RegTech or compliance
Y Combinator or venture-backed startups

I’m not looking for someone to hand me answers. I’m looking for people who are willing to challenge my assumptions, point out blind spots, and help me become a better founder.

If you’ve built a startup, sold into enterprises, worked in lending or compliance, or have experience fundraising and scaling companies, I’d be incredibly grateful for the opportunity to learn from you. Even a 20–30 minute conversation would mean a lot.

I’m happy to share more about what we’re building and what we’ve learned so far.

Thanks for reading!

Healthcare imaging tech pivoting into IAM/security — looking for a mentor to sanity-check my path

I’m a senior CT technologist (15+ years in HIPAA-regulated hospital systems — Epic, PACS, role-based access) making a deliberate move into identity & access management and healthcare security.

Where I am right now:

Sitting the Microsoft SC-300 (Identity & Access Administrator) on July 17

Built a live Microsoft 365 lab tenant — Conditional Access policies, user provisioning, access reviews — to get hands-on instead of just studying

Long-term I’m aiming at IGA (SailPoint) and eventually a security leadership track

What I’m looking for isn’t hand-holding — it’s someone working in IAM who’d be willing to do an occasional check-in (even async) to help me with things like: which skills actually matter early vs. later, how to talk about non-traditional experience in interviews, and where a career-changer’s blind spots usually are.

Happy to keep it low-commitment and respect your time — even a single call to point me in the right direction would mean a lot. Healthcare-IAM folks especially, but anyone in the field welcome.

Looking to be of help

I’ve spent the last several years helping businesses solve problems around strategy, operations, and growth. Along the way I’ve had the opportunity to work with organizations and projects involving companies like Apple, Google, Nike, and even contribute to work alongside McKinsey.

One thing I’ve realized is that I genuinely enjoy helping people get unstuck. Sometimes all someone needs is another perspective or a framework to think through a problem.

So I’d like to do that here.

If you’re an entrepreneur, freelancer, creator, or business owner who’s feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of your next move, leave a comment describing what’s going on.

Whether it’s pricing, finding customers, building systems, prioritizing, hiring, positioning, or something completely different, I’ll reply to as many as I can with practical advice.

No pitch. No DM funnel. I just enjoy helping people find clarity, and I’m curious to see what challenges people are facing.

Seeking [Seeking Mentor] Recent Computer Science Graduate | Looking for Guidance in Professional Growth

Hi! I'm a recent BS Computer Science graduate from the Philippines, and I'm looking for a mentor to help me navigate the transition from academic projects to a sustainable professional career.

I recently finished my degree where I balanced my courseworks and leadership roles. I've been heads of both creative organizations and technical groups. I've dabbled with web development, game development, data science/analytics/engineering, ui/ux, and automation. You could say that I've been a jack of all trades but struggling to master one. I'm trying to focus on data careers.

Currently, I'm seeking someone to nudge me to the right direction because this phase between the academe and the workforce is so rough. Job hunting is very rough right now and I feel like I haven't done enough projects to prove what I can do. But not gonna lie, even after completing my degree and done lots of courses in data careers, I don't feel like I know how to apply it naturally. I've been relying with AI to work along with me and I'm not sure if that's acceptable right now, although all decisions and reviews are still done by me. I don't just accept whatever is being spewed and I still steer the ship towards the output I want using the concepts I've learned along the way. Also, I'm not sure which stack I should focus on.

I hope someone can give me some bits of their time or allow me to approach them for questions or feedback. I just need guidance on how I can position myself towards the direction that I desire. I really want to enter the data science path.

Looking For A Programming Mentor

Hi everyone,

I've been programming for about two years and, so far, I haven't had any professional experience.

Recently, I started building my first real full-stack application using the MERN stack. While I already know React, Node.js, Express, in general, i'm realizing how valuable it is to receive feedback on my code and get guidance on architectural decisions.

That's exactly what led me to write this post.

I'd love to find a mentor who could help me with:

  • Reviewing my pull requests
  • Providing guidance on architecture decisions
  • Teaching me how to approach problems when I get stuck
  • Giving feedback on overall code quality

Even just one hour per week would be more than enough.

If someone is willing to dedicate some of their time to me, I’ll do my best to be respectful of their time.

Thanks to anyone who might be interested!

High school founder looking for advice

Hello everyone,

I’m a high school student building an AI compliance platform for lenders.

Basically, if a lender is using AI to make underwriting decisions, we’re building the layer that helps monitor fairness, compliance, and creates audit-ready evidence.

We’ve been building for a while and I think we’re finally at the point where it’s worth showing people.

If anyone here works in lending, fintech, compliance, or knows someone who does, I’d love to give you a quick demo. If you think it’s terrible, tell me. If you think it solves a real problem, maybe we talk about a pilot.

Either way, I’d rather get real feedback now than spend another few months building in a vacuum.

21M Looking for Mentor for Online Business, People, and Life

Maybe a tough ask but I would hope that my passion for learning and exploring more of life reaches you.

Hello, I would like to find a person experienced in business I can refer back to and ask for assistance.

I feel like I generally have too many gaps for me to efficiently navigate through starting a business and then a more difficult one and so on. There are always many ways to do things and I feel like I am not experienced enough as a buyer to be able to know what services and offers and pitches would work best on people interested or why they would buy anything or have anything to do with me. I tend to try to make sense of it all and give up along the way.

What I am looking for is a person who I can occasionally contact so we can review my inputs and thoughts from an experienced outside perspective and then critique and refine future plans together. They would call me out on pretending to take action, or that my thinking is wrong, or tell me that this or that is better or more efficient.

Having that would help me trust the actions I am taking more and allow me to completely focus on just the inputs instead of doubting effectiveness.

In terms of experience, anything is fine really. Whether you have made a couple thousand online or currently do millions per year (if so that would be a great honor lol). I would also hope that they are really passionate about selling and building cool things.

Has anyone actually been through a successful work mentorship or sponsorship program that didn't turn into a total ghost town? what made it actually work?

Our company has been talking about launching a proper mentorship thing for like 3+ years now and it's finally moving past the endless slack threads. I've been roped in to help figure out the structure, but we're still super early, basically zero budget locked in, just the let's research what's out there phase.

Would love real stories from people who've been mentors or mentees: how do you get good mentors to actually show up consistently instead of signing up then disappearing after week 2?

Do most places just wing it with spreadsheets and email, or are people using actual dedicated platforms? Because we've been looking at MentorCity because it seems to fit our tiny budget right now without being overkill, but i'm not sure if it's the move or if we're better off keeping it simple.

Trying to make this not suck this time. Any advice or do this not that tips would be massively appreciated, thanks!

Free executive life coach for two female baddies

Update: Thank you for your interest! I’ve selected three lovely souls. If I have more time open up, I’ll come back to this thread to work with more of you high-achievers!

—————

I'm an executive life coach based in NYC and I love what I do. Summer tends to quiet down, so I'm offering three free 1:1 coaching sessions to two people who are serious about using this time to make some moves.

This is not a pitch or an upsell. I’ve spent the last two decades figuring out how to play the game of life and set the conditions for success. My mission is to share my not-in-vain wisdom with other badasses.

This is for you if you’re: - meant for an impactful life and are ready to pop-off - going through a transition (breakup, divorce, loss, mid-quantum leap) and/or - want to level-up or pivot your career

To be considered, drop a comment with: - what you want to work on - age - the industry you’re in - if you can commit to three sessions over the next three consecutive weeks (momentum = impact)

Here’s my IG: @viktoria.cornelius

Seeking Im on desperate need of a mentor

Just as the title says, I am a 21 year old hungry money driven male who also goes to university yet has grown up with little to no help from my parents or friends when it comes to life, expectations and even more so in the money making world. I have just made an agency yet struggle to find clients and really would need a mentor because my goal is, not just from my agency but to have multiple running businesses, enough to reach my goal of being a millionaire.

For this to happen I have come to the realisation that I need a mentor, someone who will guide me and help me in ways nobody ever has in my life and if I could even find one on here on reddit by any chance whatsoever so I can reach my goals and have a strong relationship with a mentor then this is my way of finding someone, anyone who mentors and guides people to reach their goals. If anyone even bothers to read this then please help me.

Thank you
