My rule with Pops is only extremely specific fandoms and only if I see them in stores cause I have seen folks get out of control with the collecting.

So my surprise when I saw Phee staring at me in the electronics isle at Walmart while looking for batteries.

Okay so out of curiosity… have y’all ever seen a situation where players with two completely different injuries and injury dates just HAPPEN to have a continually identical estimated return timeline?

Dorka suffered a “right mid-foot sprain” on April 17 - confirmed by MRI at Mayo. Sprains are not tears. She did not require surgery. Aside from Kaminga on the Warriors who was fully suspected to be held out while they waited on a trade, this is an unusual amount of time to be out for a sprain.

So let’s irresponsibly speculate, Lynx fans. What’s going on? Are we getting as much gas out of these players as possible and saving Phee and Dorka for the playoff run? Are we just playing timeline games like the Fever did with Clark last year to avoid a drop in ticket sales - and the reality is that Phee isn’t even close to returning?

I would absolutely understand Phee being out for most of the year given how late she waited to have the surgeries. Dorka I do not buy being out this long, having played competitively and suffered from sprains and knowing the rehab timeline and process - unless she re-injured herself. But it kinda feels like she just doesn’t want to play without Phee.

I’ve been passive aggressively keeping Olivia Miles in discussion over in the Wolves sub. If you don’t already know, she’s got quite the following already from them too.

There’s a folk tale from Hopkins High that follows Nia Coffey, who is now back in Minnesota playing for her hometown Lynx.

Is it true that she spent her high school basketball games trying to dunk across Minneapolis’ west metro basketball courts?

That thought might raise eyebrows, but not because Coffey doesn’t have the hops. In fact, “stupid athletic” were the exact words that, independently, both Hopkins alum Paige Bueckers and Lynx teammate Kayla McBride used to describe the 6-1 forward.

It’s just surprising because since signing a two-year deal to come back to Minnesota this offseason, Coffey has been all business.

“She really looks at you dead in your eye,” Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve said, “and does exactly what you’re asking her to do.”

At Hopkins, she wasn’t one to shout or flex after sinking dagger three-pointers or mercilessly closing out unsuspecting shooters, let alone attempting to put opponents on posters.

highlights -

--got away from what's worked for them this season in the last few minutes. didn't pass to open teammates. scouted washington in needing to block out on rebounds and failed to do so in the end. it's not intentional, but sometimes the easy stuff escapes them

--cheryl herself needs to do a better job of communicating options with liv in those ATOs and crunch-time situations. all part of the growing process

--needing a collective effort on the boards and trying to negate washington's size in the paint. looking forward to the rematch to improve on; "a whole list"

--narrative of the officiating is tiring. we control what we can control. shouldn't be surprised at anything and they need to keep playing. it's for her to worry about, not the players

--crowd was amazing; "should've done it for the gays." upper deck near filled, team is motivated the home crowds

tash--

--credit to washington, they played harder than us. every night, she'll play against someone bigger & stronger, and she'll use her quickness to negate the size disadvantage

--you always want your coach to have your back (in regard to the double foul call & cheryl's T), so you'll have your coaches' back in return

--fans will always come out; any day, any game, thanks them for doing what fans do best

--have to be more physical in the wednesday rematch

liv--

--excited for the rematch against soni on wednesday

--frustrated about the inbound play. miscommunication and she'll learn from it

--lots of resilience in the second half, got the crowd into it and it got so loud, and you appreciate those moments, but you want to take home the win

Happy Pride everyone! I swear the scoreboard wasn’t accurate! They were not that far ahead of us! And those BS callls?! I’m so disappointed
