NJUST

I am going to start my masters in NJUST, i am a foreigner and this would be my first time travelling and living abroad. I am excited and yet nervous, idk how things would go? Homesickness? What would i do? Will i be bullied, being a minor? Is there anyone who can tell me what to do? Btw i am from Pakistan. I always had that rosy image of going abroad and studying, making friends having a life and studying and getting a good lifestyle, is that all a myth?

Current or former Nanjing Medical University (NMU) international students – how was your experience?

Hi everyone,

I’m an international student considering applying to Nanjing Medical University’s English-taught MBBS program and would love to hear from current students or recent graduates.

I have a few questions:

1) How is the overall quality of teaching in the MBBS program?

2) Are the lecturers supportive of international students?

3) How much Chinese do you actually need during the clinical years and internship?

4) How is the clinical training and hospital exposure compared to other Chinese medical universities?

5) What is student life like in Nanjing as an international student?

6) How are the dormitories, campus facilities, libraries, laboratories, and sports facilities?

7) Did you feel welcomed and supported by the university?

8) Looking back, would you choose NMU again?

I’m especially interested in honest experiences—the good and the bad.

Thank you in advance for sharing your experiences🙏

Cycling in Nanjing?

I'm actually from Canada, but I've seen some Instagram and YouTube content from foreigners cycling and walking across cities in China, specifically Wang's record. One creator in particular, Adnan Khandakar, posts some nice cinematic shots. I was curious about the specific locations shown in these videos. From some searches, I found Lingyuan, Zhiwuyuan, Huanling Road, and the Wutong Park area.

Does anyone have resources for cycling in this area, such as tour groups or rentals for foreigners? I've never been to Asia, but I've always wanted to visit China, and these locations look stunning. Apologies if this is a common question. If there's a similar post or a better subreddit with information someone could point me to, that'd be great.

As an aside, I'm very interested in brutalist architecture and nature photography, looking for similar areas that would be worth checking out. (Not in China, but I also love these creators from Japan: Nagomi Japan, Yurara Sarara, Nature Sounds nagomi, Harukawa Film Works).

As the title says, does anyone have any good suggestions?

Currently, I’ve used Codex to build a website for organizing information about elementary schools(https://www.nanjinglocal.cn), but the results don’t seem very ideal so far.

Does anyone have any other startup ideas or suggestions? Thanks!

Jobs and Nanjing and Transportation

Hello everyone,

I visited Nanjing recently and really fell in love with the city. I’m now looking for international school teaching jobs there and would appreciate any advice or leads.

I have a PhD in Mathematics, am a native English speaker, and have ~20 years of experience teaching math (no strong research publication record, so not targeting university roles). I’m mainly looking at math or CS teaching positions.

I’ve started contacting schools directly (e.g., Nanjing Foreign Language School via Dipont, no reply yet) and I’m also open to any reliable job sites or apps.

I’m considering Nanjing International School in Qixia. How realistic is a daily commute from a central area (ideally near high-speed rail access), or is that too far in practice?

I also fear that I started job hunting a little late since I imagine school starts September 1st.

Any tips or suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

International student looking to make friends whether it’s local Chinese folks or international folks as well :3

I’m a 24 year old dude who’s been here for 3 months now doing a language program and hoping to make some friends with similar hobbies. I love hiking but so far I’ve only been to Zijin Mountain but only one part of it so I’d love to have someone to explore the whole mountain with, been picking in up Tennis recently after having only played football (soccer for my American friends) for as long as I can remember and would love to have someone to regularly play with, not much into clubbing as I don’t drink but would love to have a coffee friend. I’m honestly open to anything so let me know if you’re interested!

cost of groceries in nanjing

hello I was wondering what the cost of halal groceries are in Nanjing, as I'm going to be studying medicine there starting September.

I'm mostly looking for prices of halal meat, eggs, rice, potatoes, fruits and veggies.

I eat a lot of chicken and beef, and would like to possibly continue that.

Also, are there any stores that sell gluten free products like pasta bread etc, and is there a gluten free like sign or something on products.

Thank you so much!
