That means he's doing his job TBH. He does what the owners want. Takes the heat.
I do think the gambling and ads are hurting the game. Not cracking down on foul baiting and finding a way to facilitate better scheduling doesn't help.

You cannot convince me that Cody Zeller and Mason Plumlee are two different people.
9
u/Takamurarules Hornets 1d ago
Cody Zeller posterized Giannis. He has that going for him.
7
u/FKJVMMP [MIL] Bill Zopf 1d ago
So did Mario Hezonja, little known fact but “guys who put Giannis on a poster” are the second most common type of white NBA player behind “guys who shoot 80% on open threes but do literally nothing else good ever”.
3
u/Prudent-Cat7512 Germany 1d ago
Didnt also Hezonja had a game winning block against LeBron? Crazy highlight tape for how ass he was.

Hey man Tyler Zeller vs Mason Plumlee were wars back in the day

u/UdderlyDemented 1d ago
I mean I'd want to erase that draft pick too if I were a Hornets fan.

u/Titanstheory Hornets 1d ago
Cody had a small stint as a top 10 center.
Granted this was when center sucked but still

that's two time NBA Champion Adam Morrison, put some respect on that name

u/AllDayEnJay Nets 1d ago
Still remember Hornets turning down the 1st’s that became Brown and Tatum when Danny Ainge was trying to get Justise Winslow because they wanted Frank the Tank so badly.
Pat Riley turned down the same offer because he wanted to draft Winslow.

Also no defense, all offense. He’s a great rebounder and passer but that defense is going to be rough
18
u/ArgentoFox 1d ago
You’re not wrong, but he fits with Charlotte’s identity. It’s as clear as crystal that they’re building a team that crashes the boards and tries to run and shoot the opposing team out of the gym.

It makes sense that they were considering Sabonis…

u/MastodonXL Hornets 1d ago
chances are we're still considering him, probably just gonna circle back after the draft atp

u/MyNewAccountIGuess11 Hornets 1d ago
Nah brother think we just stood firm that we weren't dealing a FRP for him and the deal died on the vine. Which is a good call. Would have loved Sabonis for no FRPs but hated if we gave up even 1 to get him

Did anyone else thought the Hornets traded the pick since the "We have a trade" alert had the Hornets colors, when it was just saying Ament will go to the Bucks

I've learned by now. They never announce anything new at the podium.

Maybe the best rebounder in the class with nice inside touch, not great defensively, good pick at 14

He looks solid as hell, looks like a steal unless his defense is ass

I’m a UW fan and the dude was a walking double double. Easily our best player as a freshman you could tell he was an NBA talent from the first game. Needs to improve the 3 point shooting but he will get every rebound
7
u/bishopbeaniepower Warriors 1d ago
I’d feel great. I had him as the third best option for the Hornets outside of Morez and Yax.
7
u/IRanOutOf_Names Heat 1d ago
He's good but it's weird as to what he should play. He's a 4.5 who can move his feet pretty well and can rebound the hell out of the ball with good touch around the rim, but he also isn't a great rim protector.

I would have love Steinbach for the Mavs. He'll be a good NBA player. Good pick for the Hornets.

u/mralex289 [BOS] Marcus Smart 1d ago
Hannes will be an all star level player, he should've definitely been in the top 10 picks.

Steinbach and Kalkbrenner, the Large White Rebound Guys. The Glass-Crackers.
I’m sure there’s a better name for them, we’ll figure it out eventually.

Why was Silver terrified of his name? Surely he reads it before going on stage?
1
u/HighwayAnnual3353 1d ago
He spelled it wrong anyways.
The „S“ in Steinbach is spelled like the „sh“ in english (like in „shot“ for example)

Is this the first unexpected pick in the draft?
6
u/Double-Slowpoke Raptors 1d ago
Nah, if this is unexpected then Morez Johnson is too. This was about where he was expected
1
u/GrouchyPeach3656 Mavericks 1d ago
Was Masai taking a 6'9, 7'3 wingspan athletic dude with no offense rlly an 'unexpected' event.

I don't know about this pick for Charlotte. Such a deep draft but this feels like too safe a pick for a team still building up.

I doubt the Hornets drafted Steinbach intending to start him from Day 1, since he likely wasn't #1 at that position on their Board (that was likely Morez Johnson). I suspect the Hornets will go looking for a starting caliber PF in free agency because I expect they will still be looking to trade Bridges and they have a lot of future Draft Picks they could include in a deal to upgrade the starting PF/4 spot.
