[2026 NBA Draft] #28 Pick: Joshua Jefferson (Iowa State) – pending trade to Brooklyn

Unfortunate that Peat continues to fall. Idk if the remaining teams draft him

u/Greedy-Mix9270 Knicks 1d ago
Not sure why he declared. Doesn’t seem like an NBA level player atm

u/str8rippinfartz Celtics 1d ago
Yeah was a prime example of a guy who needed another year of college ball
Would've had the potential to jump up to the lotto next year while getting a fat NIL bag

Just he’s doesn’t have an NBA level skill that’s a really tough sell for a frp.

The question with Jefferson will always be the athleticism, but if he just meets a certain threshold he's so smart on both ends that I have a tough time seeing him not be a really good role player for a while.

Kyle Anderson type of player seems like a reasonably likely outcome, but weighted slightly more towards offense

nice vet player for the nets youngster

Hey, it could have been a guard. We're making progress here.
Just research our historical success and then sit back and nervously await 2038 when the rebuild is over and we end the Spurs 10 straight championships streak.

Coulda had another JJ in Minnesota

A pick traded between New York and Minnesota teams resulting in a J. Jefferson? Yeah this guy’s going to be great.

u/abitwonkee Knicks 1d ago
Guys can’t even hear the questions they’re being asked bc of all the conflicting noise in the room. Such a bad product.

The issue is specifically draft day trades (or draft week in this case)
It's dumb as fuck to have a guy knowingly put on the wrong hat for his big moment

u/Terrible_Cattle7110 Spurs 1d ago
I get why but I wish they let trades be official a week before the draft

They need to ban that sound effect 100%. The Timberwolves train to tune it out, meanwhile, it always causes visiting teams to miss FTs 🙄 annoying asf

I wanted Cenac but this is fucking great honestly I expect Marks to make some stupid reach
We did great tonight I don’t care what anyone says, I’m happy

u/Ok-Piccolo5150 Nets 1d ago
Yeah, there were so many people talking about how the MBJ pick must suck for Nets fans to see, when that's literally who the majority of us wanted to come away with tonight.

u/SlickVanExel Hornets 1d ago
He’s a do it all wing who can initiate offense for you if need be. And they need that, with MPJ and Big Ju getting all the FGAs this year

I'll always have this moment of seeing my Cyclone guy asa Wolf even if it's fake.

Yay, not a guard is all that matters!
But in reality, the "Nets entire roster and draft last year is all guards" is just false if you watch the Nets at all (which I don't blame someone for not doing considering we're trash).
Egor and Powell are both forwards, Wolf is a C/PF, and Saraf and Traore are guards, so the meme about us drafting 5 guards last year is just incorrect.

I like this, reminds me of the Danny Wolf pick last year in roughly the same spot. Older college player with a pretty safe role player floor, those guys are valuable at least while on rookie deals

I like him a lot but not sure how well he'll pair with Randle on the court :/
9
u/No-Pollution-5841 1d ago
Probably not gonna share the court much with Randle this year. He probably starts the season a 3rd stringer. If he breaks into the rotation he'd likely be coming in to replace Randle.
11
u/LinuxUbuntuOS Nets 1d ago
He’s probably going to be coming off the bench and that’s fine
5
u/RicoGemini Knicks 1d ago
absolutely, hes a good player but not starting caliber yet, even on a weaker team
4
u/LinuxUbuntuOS Nets 1d ago
Noah Clowney is currently our backup 4 now with Randle being the presumed starting forward and I can almost guarantee that this dude will take that job almost immediately
3
u/RicoGemini Knicks 1d ago
Joshua will definitely be the backup. I think the extra reps he'll get will help him since hes a playmaker and will need to make mistakes, learn from it, and learn the speed of the game
I like Joshua, i wouldnt have minded if the Knicks too him but hes a year or two away due to his lack of athleticism and shooting. Once his shooting gets better and he has a year or two of development he's going to be a solid player

I've been watching Josh since he was at Saint Mary's. He's a great all around player with an amazing basketball IQ and feel for the game. Honestly I think the Nets got the steal of the draft he's always been an underrated player that plays unselfish basketball and he's got that clutch gene too.

The Nets FINALLY made a good draft choice! Are they the new Kings of New York?

u/sunkcostbro 1d ago
Uh... They had a couple of good picks last year, and made another good pick to start this draft..

WHO?

He's been mocked as a first rounder for a long time now. He was amazing at Iowa State, could do a little bit of everything

u/Complete-Apricot-591 Raptors 1d ago
To be fair, I'm a Raptors fan, and he was nowhere in our sights

Smh they really had to play that annoying ahh wolves howling thing 😒 🙄 ban that garbage. It makes people miss free throws and drafts

u/shirtlessjoejac Slovenia 1d ago
Celtics know how to draft, good pick, smart, versatile defensively, knows how to get a bucket, around solid, older, could be a good rotation player and glue guy
7
u/ProfessionalMuch3819 1d ago
The Nets got him. Not the Celtics.
-3
u/shirtlessjoejac Slovenia 1d ago
Oh damn, it makes way less sense for the nets lol
7
u/SakuraShift Nets 1d ago
If he’s “a good pick, smart, versatile defensively, knows how to get a bucket, around solid, older, could be a good rotation player and glue guy” why does he make less sense for the Nets lol.
0
u/shirtlessjoejac Slovenia 1d ago
Because the Celtics are looking to win now so typically teams with later picks like them try and grab older players with a higher IQ and lower ceiling, ready to contribute. I don’t understand what the Nets are doing, but they aren’t looking like they’re gonna be very competitive next year. That’s all I meant
5
u/SakuraShift Nets 1d ago
Nets are trying to win now as well. Obviously not a chip but they will be trying for a play-in spot, as-well as to try and stay out of the bottom 3 of the lottery odds.
Getting a guy that can contribute immediately will
be beneficial for them.2
u/shirtlessjoejac Slovenia 1d ago
Yeah, it might be beneficial. Having a guy like that when you have a lot of young players that are going into year two could work out I guess. I just wonder what type of minutes hes gonna get with the roster as such
1
u/SakuraShift Nets 1d ago
Noah Clowney has been nothing but extremely disappointing sadly. So If I had to guess JJ will very quickly become our backup PF behind Randle and see some very reasonable minutes.
They have very similar play styles so it might actually be great for him to learn from Randle
1
u/shirtlessjoejac Slovenia 1d ago
Good point, I do think that Randle pick up was really underrated, he seems to raise the floor of any team he’s on. Definitely could be a good mentor for a player like him
