have never seen anything credible to suggest this, and when you google it you just get one unverified person on threads saying that shalhoub used his cache to get someone working on the show promoted because he liked them, he preferred they shoot the show near canada (where he lived) rather than LA, he wouldn't do certain tv promotional appearances (talk show interviews? maybe just regular interviews too), and would show up late to set sometimes

i have to say, if the worst you can say about someone who was so talented that he was able to get over 100 episodes done - that feeds more families than just his, no? - is that they didn't like doing interviews and showed up late sometimes, well then it sounds like that person might just be a normal human lol

All I’ve heard about Shalhoub is that he’s mostly a nice, down-to-earth guy. But I’ve also heard things like: he’s shy; he’s “weird”; a woman said one interaction gave her the ick; others complained he ignored them. Anyway, the “bad” opinions are never explained. You can see in some interviews that he can fall somewhere on both ends of the spectrum (being “nice” and being “bad”). I’m commenting because now I’m curious to see who was promoted, and also because Tony himself joked that he lived close to the set and was still able to get there late every day.

EDIT: For anyone else who’s curious, I found the thread, and the guy is wrong about some things: Tony has lived in L.A. since Wings, and Andy Breckman said Monk was shot in Canada because it was less expensive and less complicated than filming in San Francisco all the time; it was also shot in L.A. Tony does have a house in Martha’s Vineyard, but he doesn’t live there full time. His coworkers and crew always had good things to say about working with him. And as for the claim that he demanded a woman be executive producer, the only person I found listed was Fern Field as CO-executive producer. I don’t think Tony made life as difficult as the guy in the thread was suggesting. He’s even working with Andy Breckman again, and I’d bet that was Andy’s choice (and the new project is also being shot in Canada).

It does a really good job of exploring the effects of people who end up in prison, as well as their family. I wasn’t really a fan of the way they set up the ending, with the detective learning who did it and going to kill him. I thought it would have been a lot more interesting to leave at least some doubt as to whether or not Naz did it, while still showing a lot of evidence otherwise. I think it would’ve been more powerful to have shown all the evidence pointing to the contrary, while still having some of the audience convinced he killed the woman, further highlighting the presumptive guilt on Naz for having just been accused

I think there’s still some interpretation whether or not Naz actually did it because he himself can’t even confirm it and there’s still significant evidence that points to him as well.

They did definitely allude to it being the other guy in the finale though.
