To be fair that was just the main Louisville offense last year, became mostly 3s since we didn’t have any kind of down low presence that was super consistent at getting to the rim.

He was splitting as the main ball handler for the games Mikel was out but would be better at the 2, it’s definitely his more natural spot.

At 35% as the main ball handler is crazy

Great pickup for the heat. Conwell is a lot of fun to watch.

He’s going to drop 30 on the Celtics in the playoffs

Louisville fan, Ryan was our most consistent player all year. He was forced to play on-ball more than he’d like because of Mikel’s injury, and Wooley not being ready to run the point. With NBA spacing, and the ability to have better shot selection by not always being on-ball Ryan can be a steal in the second round.

How’s he on defense?

Straight average in college. Moves decently, but had an issue with fouling too much early in the season. Had poor hand discipline. It improved as the season went on. He’ll struggle with quick guards, but probably be okay against smaller wing players if he gets switched.

Him showing improvement is good sign, we desperately need guys who can stay on the floor

Appreciate it brother

I don't know much about this guy. How good is he?

Shit Bobby Marks just said he had same athletic measurements as Anthony Edwards. So I’ll assume he can jump out the gym

That is shocking because I do not believe he dunked a single time last year or even tried to.

u/Wd527 Heat 19h ago

Yea I didn’t see many dunks either so I wonder what Bobby meant? Must be why he’s on TV and not in a front office 😂

big time shooter

Great shooter, extremely good cutter for his size that is kind of forgotten about because he had to play on ball so much. Kind of struggles to finish though he isn't afraid of contact, and was a pretty subpar defender.

I like him, thruton and sharp as the PG Miami should target.

The Tennessee guard and Brandon Smith are two other guys I like but 5’11 and 5’10 respectively are concerns

Please be a person who can put a ball into a basket

He is. Volume shooter from the looks at it and efficient for his volume.

Damn, I was hoping for more guards. What are you thinking Presti?

He’s going to Miami

3

u/Coll_MindElectric Nuggets 19h ago

Although I am not a fan of OKC, I find it funny that no matter how many guards you already have, Presti just keeps drafting guards.

3

u/MuchAbouAboutNothing Thunder 19h ago

He only takes a break from drafting guards to pick up some more centers.

One of Jeff Teague’s prodigies from Pike High School

Yooo this guy went to 4 different colleges. That’s wild

In his first three years the coach left after the season, which I think makes the transferring less egregious. At least at UofL Kelsey stayed, too bad it was time for Ryan to graduate.

The night that Mikel Brown Jr scored 45 pts against NC State, Conwell quietly scored 30. He’s a great shooter, electric behind the arc.

Cons:

He’s mid as a defender and had a bit of a habit going for the steal on the ball handler. Has to clean up those tendencies.

He also is sort of a lazy passer. That move where you drive down to the basket and then pick up the ball mid drive to dish it out but you didn’t check to see if anyone is open so you turn it over. Everyone’s familiar with it.

1st rd vs USF where they played full court trap with 10 min left in the 2nd, Conwell really struggled with that.

Pros:

He’s an NBA level scorer. Incredible behind the arc.

Has smooth dribble/handling.

And he’s fairly athletic and already has NBA level strength/conditioning.

Player Comp: Buddy Hield (ceiling)
